Cool little museum with interactive exhibits. The lady who runs the museum is nice and there's a cute little cafe attached. The waffles were very tasty.

My wife and I came to this place last year on a trip to Iceland. This place is amazing, from the awesome display pieces to the interactives. The museum is inspirational for other passion project museums! Definitely worth a visit if you are in the region

Really unique museum! It was really cool listening to the stories of those that lived there and their experiences with encounters. The museum can be short if you just glance through, so take your time listening and reading. The man working was super kind and started our visit off with a basic overview of what to expect. The sandwich we had at the cafe was delicious! Would definitely recommend coming here if you are nearby.

The entrance is 1.450isk and the owner told us that when he'll have a bit of free time, he'll come to explain us some stories!

We went inside the museum and I felt very immersive feelings. The texts, stories, the recreation of the monsters... Everything detail was made very good 👾!!

I must say that for me was very interesting because I like paranormal stuff, but my girlfriend didn't like it that much. I recommend to visit if you have the opportunity! The owner is very vibes although he didn't came for the stories (you deserve us the stories!!) 🥺

After the museum, we got a coffee (cappuccino, needs to be better done) and 2 pieces of apple pie (fantastic, delicious 😋🍏)

Really enjoyable place 💯

Quaint and moody. Worth a visit if you’re in town. The interactive maps were a great touch.

Depends on what you expect. They start by setting your expectations straight, it’s mainly about eye witness testimonies of sea monster encounters. I found it really nicely done and had fun.

Cute little museum about sea monsters. Always good to support local initiatives. The coffee shop part has good coffee as well. The museum itself is small and does not really have anything interesting on display. At the end you can watch a documentary about people who have had encountered sea monsters, this is the most interesting part.

The museum is really nice! It's a really immersive and interactive experience. There are some models of common Icelandic monsters, lots of stories to read/listen to/watch on screen. A few different rooms with their own atmosphere, all very detailed.
The entrance is via the coffeehouse where you buy the tickets. Very friendly man helping you there, telling you what to expect in the museum. Also great coffee!

Almost feels like there is something out there and it made me want to visit more 'sites' and try to catch the shore laddie in the late august sometime.

Fun little museum with an overview of the sea monsters of Iceland, mainly focused on the monsters found in Arnarfjörður, but also other monsters, like the monster from Lagarfljót, in the east of Iceland, and other monster folklore from around the world.

The museum is small, but does have some cutting edge interactive elements. The host is nice, and gave me a small introductory tour, but I was the only one there, so it might not be the case if it's busy. The cafe was also pretty good.

My only complaint would be that the museum is quite dark, which adds to the monster atmosphere, but is not ideal for someone with night blindness.

Really cute museum.
You can see that a lot of care went into the exhibitions and there's a lot of details and specifics in the testimonials and video pieces.
A great, cosy, experience.
There's also a cafe in the room next door (where you buy the tickets). We didn't end up ordering there, but it seemed very nice as well.

I'm a long term cryptozoological enthusiast, so I'd been dreaming of visiting this place for a long time, and it did not disappoint! I loved the atmosphere, I was surprised at how much time I spent in such a small space and how much information they managed to fit in there, and the way the information is presented is very fun and engaging! The coffee at the cafe was pretty good too :)
