5 stars isn't really enough for this hotel!! We booked for a ski holiday- the hotel is in the Gastein valley. The whole hotel is beautiful and well kept and has so much Alpine charm! We were half board and the food was absolutely stunning. There was a large variety for breakfast (which can often get a bit repetitive) and the evening meal was beautifully cooked with a real variety. Kurt looked after our table wonderfully all week with a smile and real professionalism! The room was spacious and clean. The added bonus is the underground access to the Alpentherme Spa- this is just fantastic and a real addition to the holiday. We had a couple of queries and reception were very helpful and stuff just "happened". The walk to the gondola is about 10-15 mins in ski boots, but there are various free buses going there so it doesn't really matter. The boot and ski room at the hotel is warm and spacious (and somehow doesn't smell!) We had a wonderful stay, and are looking forward to coming back to try it in the summer!
Not related to the hotel, but the skiing is varied but definitely more for intermediates rather than first time skiers. There are a few different areas, but the gondola at Bad Hofgastein means you are in the large area with plenty of slopes.

Hotel Österreichischer Hof consists of three properties in the centre of Bad Hofgastein, we stayed in the Panorama apartments building. The suite was very quiet, but is due for renovation, other suites in the hotel have been refurbished. It would be worth asking for a south facing balcony (ours wasn’t). The hotel is 10 minutes walk to the gondola station. They have a boot ski room in the hotel & the city shuttle bus stop is next door but we took out lockers at the main gondola for our skis (worth every penny!).

We were on half board, the breakfast and dinners were great, service was outstanding by Aphrodite. The hotel doesn’t have a bar area as such, which is one area they could develop to improve it.

The hotel has its own pool & sauna, but a great benefit is that you get access to the Alpentherme Gastein which is a huge spa and health club, the hotel is connected via underground tunnel, 5 minute walk. Worth going to the spa and relaxing after skiing.

We are returning guests in this hotel. Everything is so nice that we do not want to change it! Combination of SKI + SPA + super friendly personnel + great food make this hotel absolutely great choice with great value for price ratio!

It's hard to describe how fantastic our stay at Hotel Österreichischer Hof. The location is perfect, right in the heart of the town with easy access to beautiful hikes and a short stroll (under ground or over) to the therms. The rooms were perfectly clean and kept to a high standard. The hotel buildings are also steeped in history, one of which was over 700 years old.

But what truly sets this hotel apart is the staff. They couldn't be more friendly, accommodating and flexible. From very early on we felt like one of the family. Cheery smiles throughout the day wrapped in absolute professionalism. I guess it's what you get when a hotel has been in the same family for 5 generations. It's a very well oiled machine which a big friendly smile on it.
I can't recommend it enough.

Oh, and the food was absolutely outstanding.

Short version: Amazing hotel, super clean, will definitely come back here.

The hotel is located on a nice spot right near the town centre and yet on walking distance from the lift. The hotel has a typical Austrian vibe, but extremely well maintained. Very light open spaces. Everything is super clean and there are no damaged bits or undone maintenance. When we arrived we parked the car in front of the hotel to unload our luggage. The car park is a couple hundred meters back and spacious. One thing that would make it better is a charging spot for electric cars (even willing to pay for the electricity), but there are some locations near the lift, so it's only a minor inconvenience.

The room was nice, spacious and very clean. Since it was summer, it could get a little hot in the room. We just kept the curtains closed during the day and opened the windows after sunset before going to bed.

One super plus point is the underground tunnel to the Alpenthermen. It was really nice after a day of walking inside the mountains to be able to walk to the thermen through the hotel and just relax there. Put on your flipflops, put on your bathrobe and you are ready to go! When you didn't want the crowdedness of the Alpenthermen, you could also visit the Celtic Spa, which is also included and has some sauna's and a (small) pool.

Breakfast is nice, the staff is friendly and the food is fresh. Plenty of stuff to choose from. The layout of the buffet was abit weird at first, but space is limited here so we got used to it quickly. The hotel reserves a table for you, so you have the same table for your entire stay.We had dinner once, it was a mix of buffet and ordering from the kitchen. Good food, typical Austrian dishes :)

Then lastly, but surely not least; the staff. Super friendly people, that are willing to help or provide tips for activities. Housekeeping also does a great job, the room is properly maintained. We also booked a massage in the Celtic Spa; there is one somewhat elderly man working there; if you want a nice thorough massage, I would recommend him.

We had a wonderful time, this was our first time during summer to visit Austria, we have been in this area and other areas during wintertime. Now that I know of this hotel, I will definitely be back here during the winter for a skitrip.

Thank you for our pleasant stay!

Surely THE BEST accommodation in Bad Hofgastein. Comfortable apartment with amazing mountain view and top on the top is unlimited free entrance to Alpen Therme via heated underground corridor. Next year we will come again.

A 2 week duration in the summer holiday and we couldn't have asked for a better introduction to an Austrian Alps holiday. We were a group of 6 (4 adults and 2 young kids) with different expectations from each of us. There was something for everyone. Relaxing, sporty, family orientated. The village and surrounding areas have lots going on everyday. The staff in the hotel were outstanding, fun and professional. Nothing was a problem. The hotel rooms were clean and comfortable. They even provided correct sized dressing gowns for the kids. I would highly recommend this hotel and the area.

Staff are very friendly, food and service is amazing. Rooms are clean and our suite is spacious enough. The hotel is quite central in resort with the ski bus link just out back. Access to the spa and alpentherme is an added bonus although it's a fair walk so bring some pool shoes. I'd definitely stay here again

Such a cozy hotel. We stayed in the beginning of June just before the high season. Great people working there as well. Very helpful and the kitchen staff even gave us plates and cutelery to eat our own food in our room and heated it up for us. The pools were amazing! Must be so warm and cozy in the winter.

My wife and I were really lucky to stay in this hotel for one week during August 2014, I mean lucky because we just booked it in a sort of rush and without expecting much from it. We knew that in Austria the standards regarding tourism are among the highest in the world, so we went there and our experience couldn't have been better.
Amazing and comfortable room, the atmosphere and ambience were friendly and very kind. I specially like to mention our waiter Kurt Tiefenbachen who was always very professional and made us feel real welcome from the very first day, always with a smile and kindness, in fact all the staff were friendly and kept a high standard. My wife and I love a place when people around specially the locals are nice and friendly, this was the case and not only at the hotel if not everywhere we went. I highly recomend this hotel. Thanks a lot for everything and extremely delighted that this was one of our best holidays.

Wow, we really enjoyed our stay (group of 9 people), very friendly and professional staff, very helpfull, rooms are big and clean, access to the Thermen though a tunnel directly from the hotel, extraordinary cuisine, Saturday´s buffet with variety of meat was outstanding, we definitely come back. Parking is 5min walk from the hotel, for loading/unloading of baggage you may use the temporary parking place in front of the hotel.
