Hotel & Gasthof Fürberg

We took just lunch, but the food was really great . We did not expect such great taste. All we had was quite nice and fine. Top one was Fish soup(as main dish).It was excellent. I can only recommend this place as to take nice dish next to the lake with relaxing atmosphere is really rare.😉

If I were you I would stay out of the guest house room 210 I believe, The light from the taxi boat information box is blinding at night preventing you from looking at the stars or enjoying the deck. Otherwise everything was perfect. It was so perfect in fact we booked two days and requested to stay a week when there was an opening. Eventually there was an opening and we stayed and it was awesome. I recommend it highly. Housekeeping was great. Front desk was great. Breakfast was awesome and if you don't see anything you like, they'll cook you eggs the way you like it. I don't understand why they don't have a covering of some sort, that information box at the taxi boat at night is miserable.

I walked here from St. Gilgen - a lovely walk I recommend! I had a cake and a whey drink here - loved it! The view is just wonderful!

We had an excellent lunch here in August. My wife is celiac. The restaurant had a good gluten free cake. She was very happy to find a gluten free treat!

Top location, top hotel, next time a room with a balcony and lake view, absolutely top place with a superb restaurant

One of best hotels we've been to. The staff was very friendly, the room was clean and we happened to get a room with a lake view. We also had dinner there slightly before closing time of the kitchen and the staff was very kind and attentive to ensure our orders would go through. We had Flesichlaibchen and fish burger, both were very decent. Would go back again

Wonderful rooms with a magnificent view. The restaurant has served delicious, locally sourced, seasonal food in all the years I've been going there. The staff go above and beyond to create a memorable experience.

Visiting Austria is always a pleasure. The country is stunning, people incredibly welcoming and polite and everything works! Yes, I am bias in that I spent some of my childhood here, but I truly believe anyone can feel at home in Austria. Hotel Fuerberg lives up to these high standards and more. The staff (mostly family run I believe) were fantastic, helpful, charming, friendly and accommodating in every way possible. The food was fantastic and the service exemplary (this is normal in Austria).

The hotel is located away from the local towns in what appears to be a national park and protected area. Locals sail across the lake to have a drink or eat at the hotel. Fresh trout is often available, as is house smoked trout.

All dishes are fabulous so make sure you step out of your comfort zone and have something truly Austrian with a glass of good local wine.

We stayed in the adjoning building, a large guesthouse, in rooms with a lake view and a balcony for the same. These were clean, spacious and well furnished.

I recommend the hotel and their excellent team without hesitation.

Wolfgangsee and the Upper Austria Region are favourites in the spring and Summer. (Skiing galore just up the mountains in winter).

The local boat service stops outside the hotel and can take you to any of the towns on the lake. Worth a visit is the mountain railway that takes you up 1200 metres to the top of Schafberg. This is a little more touristy but you can have a decent lunch for reasonable prices with the world at your feet. Take walking poles if you are unsteady or advanced in years. For the younger folk, you can walk up and down the mountain, but you will have to start early!

A 50 minute drive away, is Hallstadt on the shores of Hallstaettersee. The medieval town is beautiful and certainly worth visiting but a little too touristy for me, so it is worth keeping Fuerberg as your base.

However the salt mines at Hallstadt (a ride up the mountain in a cablecar) are most definitely worth the trip. Catch the cable car and book a slot for the salt mine tour (do this in advance during the tourist season).

Even closer, is the city of Salzburg. I suggest you spend a whole day there. Research before you go, I know the city well and there is so much to see in and around the city that it is futile to recommend any particular bit! (Ps go to Hellbruenn)

So, in addition to the highest standards, views and locations offered by hotel Fuerberg, it is an excellent base from which to explore one of the most beautiful and dramatic mountain regions in Europe.

Very nice location with regional food. If you like freshwater fish you should try the local species 'Reinanke', very delicious. Also the starters and desserts are tasty. The service is very friendly. Can be reached by walking, ship and car. Has also a nice garden with a beautiful view over the lake 'Wolfgangsee'.

When it comes to great food in combination with a fantastic view then Hotel & Gasthof Fürberg is your choice at Wolfgangsee. If you wanna make the experience even more special you should take the ship instead of the car. Public transportation takes you right in front of the hotel/restaurant from all the places around the lake. Highly recommended!

Amazing place to stay! Friendly staff, unbelievably good food, the breakfast was always good here, but this year it is extremely nicely managed.

We stayed here in 2017. The rooms were amazing, the breakfast was delicious, the entire experience was unforgettable. We hope so very much to return someday. If you are even remotely ever in the area, make time to stay here.

Excellent food, friendly service, and maybe the most beautiful view I've ever had from a restaurant. If you're in the area, it's a must.

Beautiful location on Lake Wolfgangsee, the hotel guest house and restaurant is walkable from St Gilgen and also is right opposite the Furberg ferry terminal.

We stopped by for lunch, the restaurant has a more modern feel than the age of the building suggests. Menu is varied and includes a selection of freshwater fish from the lake. Service was efficient but friendly.

We just stay there for a beer on our tour from Plombergstein around Wolfgangsee. Service was super friendly and super fast. Beer was cold and tasty. Nice view from outside area, we can just recommend this place to everyone

A gem of a place to stay located in Fuerburg, Austria right on the banks of Wolfgangsee. Dating from 1544 (but, and perhaps obviously, well modernized since then), the Gasthof has been managed by just four families, each adding a bit here and there to create a delightfully complete compound with a wide range of sporting and leisure activities. We were there in late May, before the high so the crowds were not what they might be in the summer. Our double was small but comfortable with a great first-floor view of the lake (when we return, we will request a second-floor room). The staff speak English well and could not be more helpful. The food, both on the terrace and in the dining room, was excellent—imaginatively prepared to a high professional standard from locally sourced ingredients. A hiking trail directly in front connects with a large network in the area, both flat and mountain challenging. The Wolfgansee ferry stops within a few paces of the front door, connecting points around the lake, including to the Schafbergbahn cog railway that takes you near the top of that 1,783 m. peak and to St. Gilgen when you can catch the cable car to the top of the Zwoelferhorn. The pictures and descriptions on the website are accurate.

If you want to experience Surreal views, a mind-blowingly beautiful lake, and quite literally the best Austrian Food I have had, this is the place to be.
