Dar's Delights

The lady who cashed me out seems to have a big heart for baked goods and a terrible bedside manner with people, or at least, that's just her facial expression. They have a surprisingly diverse selection of fruit n vegetable preserves and honeys, including home canned spicy salsa! It's end of September (the weekend before Harvest Moon) so Im glad that I happened to be driving thru the area. Truly aovely drive on a sunny Sunday morning!

We got a rhubarb pie ($15), large jar of salsa ($6), a maple sugar candy ($1.25) and a pumpkin tart ($2.00).

All their goods seem to be of top quality.

Excellent butter tarts!!! So happy we found this little shop. Great pies, frozen meat pies, honey, pickled veggies, jams and more.

Absolutely love Dar's Delights. The best butter tarts, pies, and the donuts are to die for! Dar has built an amazing business, she is a cornerstone of the community. Not only is her baking fantastic, she has given me tons of advice about training our dogs in a farm setting. We'll miss you when you retire in a few weeks and wish you all the best as you spend more time doing other things you enjoy!

I will never have better baked goods. The crusts on her butter tarts and pies is incredible, the donuts are classic cake style and have a perfect crumb. She also has a great selection of jarred/pickled items. I am going to be very sad when the bakery closes in September. Get in while you can!

Every single item we have purchased is incredible. Dar is dedicated and not rude at all, just don't ask dumb questions. I have been in the store many times and having to listen to some of the customers questions, you will know why she comes off as rude. Asking if the pies are fresh or why there isn't any more donuts is going to get a rigid answer.

Great sausage rolls, donuts, and butter tarts! Still waiting to try a little meat pie or one of the pies or cream pies! Despite a lot of reviews speaking on poor customer service, that is not what I received here at all, Dar was very assertive, but helpful and kind, she is a hard working women, give her some credit guys, she explained to me that the cream pies alone take about 8 hours to complete from start to finish! Good tip for everyone is to know that you can call ahead and order pies for the next day!

The butter tarts (version with pecan) the best I have eaten. The woman working in the store was crabby. A refreshing change from forced CS cheerfulness. I also bought 3 small quiche. They are as perfect as any quiche ever. Pastry good. The egg filling light and soft ish yet firm. I had olive and feta. Very light on added salt- so delish. Whomever bakes for Dars Delights knows baking temperatures. Highly recommend both the baking and 😠 surly service. I

I absolutely love the quiches, veggie pot pies, sausage rolls. The crust is amazing.

After many years of visiting Dar’s Delights I am both disappointed and happy to see that Dar will be retiring this September. There is no doubt that this hard working and talented baker deserves a happy retirement however I will miss her fantastic butter tarts pies and other goods It has been a pleasure to get to know Dar and John over the past 20 + years I will continue my weekly visits this summer and wish both of them a happy and healthy retirement

Homemade bakery is the best type of bakery. Dar has a vast selection of pie, pastry, condiments,.. all delicious. But her pecan tarts are to die for. We always get 2 dozens every time we get to stop by.

Dar's Delights is the most amazing place!
Her unique mix of old favourites complimented with her unique sweet treats, savoury meat pies (one for each day of the week), sausage rolls & delectable quiches! Yum. During the Covid-19 months, she is firm with her protocols to keep herself and customers safe - only 2 masked at a time inside. Whether you need a full meal for 10, or single treat to munch on your way home -- you've got to stop here.
Make sure to indulge with her fresh made each day, donuts; and handmade turtles with whole pecans, in milk-white or dark chocolate are out if this world - Oh my, heaven for my hips!!
Dar is an immensely hard working, ethical woman - a woman of few words.
So get right down to your selections and move along - no doubt there are others waiting to indulge themselves!!

I will start by saying all of her food is delightful, our family has tried almost everything she has to offer and are never disappointed. That being said I caution you that the food is about the only "delight" you will find here. Dar isn't the jolly country baker you expect. Instead she is more reminiscent of the Soup Shop Owner from Seinfeld. "NO SOUP FOR YOU!". Like a skilled surgeon her bedside-manor is abhorrent, but you wouldn't go anywhere else. I drive out of my way in hopes of scoring one of her delicious treats. Dodging the daggers she stares. I truly believe she puts all of her "sweetness" into her baking, and there just isn't enough left to be pleasant to us lowly customers.

I wish I lived closer! We enjoyed the Apple Pie at my sisters place and then made sure we stopped on our way home. We picked up the most delicious quiche and some jam which we are assuming will be divine. The owner was very pleasant with us as well.

Best butter tarts. Yes, it would be nice if the million cyclists who stopped here had a washroom to use - I think we’d all chip in for a port-a-potty! - but the butter tarts and sunny porch are worth the stop. There is no better treat! My kids love the doughnuts.

Their pies are to die for. It's all about the crust and Dar's got it right. Also their donuts. So. freaking. good.

I was expecting Dar to be....Dar. As per reviews. She was unexpectedly friendly. A bit curt, but in a friendly way. Like a no nonsense kind of way. I bought my goods and left. No nonsense. It was a perfectly pleasant transaction.

Always a great place to stop for hydration and calories during your bike ride. Missed getting those Yummy-licious cinnamon doughnuts this morning. Cleaned out! Luckily there were two muffins available. The pies look awesome but how to carry them on a ride? 🤔

Best butter tarts in the land. Our cycling group doesn't just come for the delights, Dar is a delight herself and we love her schtick.

We stop in at Dar's every two months when we go to pick up bird seeds from their local farm supply. Never a disappointment, because we go there for Dar's "baking talents" BEST Strawberry Rhubarb Pie in the world!! I like that we can phone ahead to make sure there is one waiting for us. Thanks Dar!!

Great butter tarts, hot cross buns and pies! Just left and already looking forward to my next visit. Hubby tried this place first, and we made a special visit from Hamilton today without disappointment. Yum! Btw, the local honey there is also amazing.

Great little spot with lots of variety and quality food. Everything Dar makes is absolutely delicious, from the sugar donuts, pies, jams, sausage rolls, preserves... you name it! You can also call ahead if you have a bigger order which is great. Dar's will always be my go-to shop!
