Queen Mary’s TASC program for after school child care policy is based on ageism and renewals it’s exclusively for the privileged. If you are choosing a school based on before school / after school childcare this is not the elementary for anyone deserving of childcare. The entities that make the decisions are clearly bias.

I would have avoided Point Grey and Queen Mary had someone been straight forward about the lack of childcare assistance at this school. Childcare should be for those in need not for the privileged! TASC your policies are fundamentally wrong, do better!

When I was there a few years back, principals used to change every year, which created so much chaos within the organization of the school.

Alongside that, a lot of the teachers for the older grades seemed uninterested in teaching, which was a ‘great’ motivator for us children. Additionally, the teachers had us ill-prepared for high school, only teaching the very minimum of what is needed for high school. It went as far as us having math class only twice a week or something, and then the teaching was poor.

I wasn’t someone who hated school, in fact, I had good comments from the teachers, and even participated in the leadership team while I was there. But I suppose being a good student wasn’t enough.

During almost all my years attending the school, I was bullied by people. Who knows why, kids are mean. But in order to get them to learn their ways, teachers should educate them to think better.

Guess what my principal did one year?

I ended up apologizing to my bully for making ‘sarcastic remarks’ back at them after they had relentlessly bullied me into considering offing myself. Thanks Queen Mary, you were super helpful.

The same thing played out for all my teachers. They couldn’t care less about the students and didn’t do anything if I told them about all the stuff the students would do to me.

In short, this school has a terrible teaching and moderation system. They were neglectful and careless. Students didn’t learn enough, and then a child was ignored by the people who were supposed to help.

This last message is dedicated to those who didn’t help:

Get rid of the pink shirt day event and assembly. You claim to be anti-bullying, but in truth, you couldn’t care less. Don’t host an event like that if you aren’t going to live up to your own standards.

If you care about your children’s academic success, do not send them here. An absolutely mediocre education with bullying that is not addressed and as a matter of fact some teachers enable the bullying behaviour.
