Captain George's Fish & Chips - Newcastle

Absolutely loved my stay here at Capt George's. The restaurant was clean and the staff were very friendly and attentive. They took their time to explain the specials and any questions i had with the menu. I ordered the Halibut and it was one of the best that I've ever had. Soft tender and crispy golden on the outside. The fries were crispy as well! Being from Oshawa it's well worth the short drive over for some quality English style fish and chips. Id recommend the cocounut cream pie as a dessert even if youre not a fan of coconut. Its the best ive had yet. Soft flaky and baked perfectly.

I noticed a lot of other patrons had Greek style dishes which looked really good as well. I will try them next as this also seems very popular. I can always appreciate an extensive menu with good options!

The prices are fair, the food tastes great and the portion sizes are very filling. What more can anyone want? My go to spot for fish and chips from now on. 5 stars easy.

The young lady who served us was very nice. There was a good selection on the menu and the meal I had was very good. Chicken souvlaki pita with a delicious greek salad on the side. I would go there again.

This place is a hidden gem. Their food is delicious, the atmosphere is so warm and cosy as if you're somewhere in Greece, the chef and his crew are truly dedicated. We were impressed and amazed, now if we drive by Newcastle, this is our "must pitstop". Truly recommend!

Well done everyone. Good Friday being one of your busiest days, everything was well organized and running like clock work. We waited10 minutes past the time slot BUT, I prefer that than seeing my food waiting for me.
Everything was great and the suggested amount of food for 6 adults, 2 children was bang on.

Used to come here more often as a kid, really enjoyed both the nostalgia of past family meals, and the pleasant service provided presently!

Me and my husband ate here and really enjoyed our food. We had ordered the fish and chips and it tasted really good. Fish was soft as butter. Best fish and chips place we have been to so far, will return for another visit and will try out their other menu items. Highly recommended!

Just got home with my order of Halibut and fries WOW! I was very impressed when I opened the boxes. Good sized fish portions and amble fries. Excellent! Very tasty. Also, the toung lady who greeted me was very pleasant and welcoming.

Stopped at this location with the wife and kids for dinner on our way home through newcastle. We were greeted by friendly staff, place was super clean. We ordered 2 halibut dinners, burger combo and chicken finger combo. Everything came out fresh, perfectly cooked and the portions were generous.The owner recommended we try the coconut pie which just topped off a perfect dinner. We'll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend this location!

This was the best take out meal we have ever had! The halibut was a good size and delicious. The breaded shrimp were amazing. The chicken strips were made from real chicken. The fries were perfect! We will be ordering from here again!

The food was really good. The service was 10x better! The gentleman who made our food was spot on with everything. The young lady serving us was an absolute sweetheart and I swear was some of the best service I've ever received, which says alot considering it's a fish and chip joint! 😜Hang on to those employees for dear life as they will be the main reason I will be returning!

Very nice staff, very welcoming! Food is tasty just as before. The owner dropped their prices to help people afford their delicious menu, something other restaurants not willing to do and I applaud the new owner for that.
I would recommend this place to anyone compare to other Captain George.

Captain George's is not to be confused with a five star restaurant, but it is a great place to have a quick meal at a very reasonable price.
The staff at the Newcastle store are incredibly friendly and very efficient

I came by while on a mini roadtrip and popped in on a whim. I grabbed the steak on a bun and 2 halibut and chips for home. Very glad I did for all the aforementioned reasons.

It's a journey but I will be back again and I encourage you to visit as well.

Absolutely Gem in New Castle, if you love some high quality service and food this place is a must go. Food is amazing , both fish and chips are extra ordinary and super friendly staff puts the cherry on top. Good luck with business you’re serving new castle some very high quality fish and chips. The food was deliciously amazing !!! Serving was big! We ordered the 2 fish fries and salad, it was more than enough for my wife and I.I highly recommend this place if you are on the hunt for fish and chips! Friendly new owner!
