Ed's Take Out

Amazing experience with Brendan, what a gem of a person! We stopped here on our way to Brier island, to try the world famous Digby Scallops! Incredible scallops and amazing clams. Suggestion - ask for the scallops to be grilled rather than deep fried. Thank you Brendan, great personality and an asset to this establishment. Cheers.

So good! Everyone on staff was really friendly, too. The light batter on the fish and chips was tasty and had a nice texture, and the fish was clearly good quality. Both the home fries (which I had) and regular fries (my partner had) were great, but home fries better I think. Burger was a lot bigger than we were expecting. Just all around really good and looking forward to going back 🌊

Delicious food and very friendly service. Got a side of plump and perfectly deep-fried scallops, and lightly battered fish and chips. Great place to stop on our way into Digby.

Not disappointed with our meal today at Ed's Takeout in Digby! We had fish and chips extra crispy. Totally recommend! Brendan even hooked us up with spicy haddie bits - do not knock it until you try it! Picture boneless chicken wings extra crispy dunked in hot sauce except the chicken is haddock! You will never have haddie bits any other way! The only thing wrong with Ed's is that it is 3 hours from Halifax! Guess we will be finding excuses to come to Digby more often!

We drive over an hour to eat here and haven't been able to find a place even close to this quality anywhere around Nova Scotia. Ed's grandson and girlfriend know their way around this kitchen and take extra care to make sure that your fish is crispy, the clams aren't soggy and the scallops have a crisp bite to them. I swear they've spent years perfecting this fry and it shows. I'll also never forget one time we showed up 5 minutes to close and they treated us with so much respect and cooked everything we asked. True professionals and 💯 worth a stop.

I was recommended to go try the scallop roll here. Wow so good. You can add some extra toppings and the scallops were perfectly cooked can’t wait to go back. Price was really decent too. Good amount of parking and lots of places to sit.

Honestly some of the best fish and chips that I’ve ever had. 100% would recommend.

Great food and friendly service. Beer batter seafood that is incredible and fresh. The fresh seafood is delivered in the mornings to the restaurant so it tastes great every time.
The female chef is extra accommodating to splitting meals for kids in separate containers and serving us a full menu close to their closing! Very grateful for her awesome attitude and attention to detail. This level of customer service is rare. The owners should be proud to employ her!!!

Tasty and affordable Digby Scallops. The service and staff were terrific. We ordered a small meal of scallops and clams due to seasickness from whale watching, but the chef offered us another meal on the house. They also gave juice boxes to kids. I will highly recommend it to anyone visiting Digby. My only suggestion is to also add pan-fried and non-battered options to the menu.

Words cannot express how good the food was. Looking forward to trying out the new location near Kingston too!!!!

So delicious! Classic clams and chips with friendly service. Also tried the burger which is like an old fashioned diner burger. Would stop again if in the area!

The BEST fish and chips but that is not why I am writing this review (even though that deserves 10 stars all on it’s own). The guys that run this place are so extremely thoughtful and friendly. Ed’s is super clean, they brought an extra fork and fish stick for my mom who was sitting with me “just in case” she wanted some, and they brought fresh water out for our dog. Well worth the visit.

Absolutely fantastic. I was impressed before even receiving my food. The customer service was amazing and friendly. The food was prepared and brought to us quickly. Everything was cooked to perfection.

A Digby mainstay. We had haddock and chips and a poutine, Family owned and operated. Friendly service. Got the history of the restaurant and family. Two shared the three piece fish and chips for lunch. I've eaten lots on both coasts and I would say some of the best I've had. Fish was very fresh. Every second day from a local supplier. Chips were amazing crispy and very creamy inside. They source everything locally and know their suppliers. Great place. Ed's left quite a legacy.

Ed's has the best seafood west of the valley. A must try!!

Two words; Simply. Amazing.

Those scallops were great, and the fries were perfect. Coleslaw was good too, and I don't eat coleslaw.

The only thing that outclasses the quality of the food there is the quality of the staff. We had a burger and fish n chips and both rocked our world but the fish n chips really shook me. By far the best I've had after 3 weeks of touring Nova Scotia. I traveled the many miles of this beautiful province in our yellow vintage boler searching for something that would top Ed's take-out but left disappointed. The good news is that I know where to go next time I am around. Prices we're great as well!
