Explorer Hotel Berchtesgaden

We stayed at the Explorer for a total of 3 nights before and after our hiking tour in the region and had a great stay. Staff was accommodating and helpful, utilities including sauna clean and new, and breakfast a highlight. With it‘s close proximity to the hiking and climbing trails as well as the lake, I have nothing but great things to say about the Explorer Berchtesgaden

Excellent concept for a hotel catering to adventure travelers. Room was basic but was clean, bright and open with plenty of storage and charging. Sauna facilities for a room at this cost was amazing. Breakfast was also great, egg station was fun, and once again uniquely catered towards adventure travelers. Bus stop is just outside, and lake is a short walk away.

The hotel was better than we expected! The staffs were friendly and helpful, and there was a very cozy lobby that you could have food and drinks. And the room was nice and clean.
The hotel offered free gym and sauna, which was wonderful after walking all day. Also the hotel offered the ticket of Königssee boat tour, you could buy it at the reception. The hotel was a bit far from the train station so better to come there with a car. Or you can take a taxi at the train station (it cost around 14€). But the good side is that it’s very close to Königssee, it took around 10 min for us to reach Königssee by walking. We will definitely choose this hotel again!

We had a perfect stay. Everything in our checklist was met - 1. Dogs are very welcome and adored. 2. Staff was helpful, friendly and very hardworking. They did not mind speaking English with expats 3. Breakfast had vegan options and local produce ! Even dinner meals offer a vegan option which was very thoughtful. 4. Location is great and parking is on property. 5. Hotel is very clean and everything is modern. Lastly the spa/sauna is an excellent treat and included in the price. I don’t understand the complaints about beds being hard but in a region for sports and hiking, these are the best kind of beds to support your sore muscles. We slept well. Will def choose to stay here again.

Unique hotel that caters to outdoor enthusiasts, with facilities that I have not seen before in other hotels, such as gear lockers and a workbench for gear repair. It is walking distance to the lake, but still away from all the hustle and bustle of tourists. The room was clean, comfortable, and quite spacious. I loved that I could have my dog with me, and also park my car with no issue. They have both covered and uncovered parking. Breakfast was not bad, and there is a DIY egg cooking station. The price is great for the region. Altogether, I think this is a great choice, although personally I wish the aesthetic was less hip and more traditional/nature-focused.

Friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast buffet. The room was clean and comfortable. Some really good restaurants nearby. Walking distance to the Konigsee. Good WiFi and a great view of the Eagles Nest.

Very nice hotel, really close to the lake and the Jennerbahn. The staff is very kind and helpful. They made sure our stay is perfect. Due to Covid we didn’t experience the famous breakfast but the breakfast package we got to our room every morning was amazing. We even took some of it with us as lunch. The rooms are clean and spacious. The only bad thing I would say is, the parking is not free although the hotel has a huge space that can take lots of cars. Overall it was a great experience.

Stayed four nights in early fall. Lots of guests there to explore the national park. This is a beautiful place to visit. It is geared for activities, like mountain biking, skiing, etc. Breakfast is included and it is a great spread. At night they serve cocktails and meals for purchase. You can get pack lunches to go for your hike. The rooms are kitted out nicely but I found my mattress was sort of Spartan. Although the name says it is in Berchtesgaden, it is located in Schonau about 6.6 km from the train station in B'gaden.

One of my favorite hotels in Schönau. All the stuff are friendly. The rooms are pretty cool and modern. There is a SPA and Gym area. Perfect place to start some outdoor activities. Breakfast it's an experience itself. Top top top

Very nice concept and wonderful team: Andreas & The Buddies! ​😉👍You can see every day how hard they work, trying to solve every problem/ wish in time.
The natural scenery is impressive, high mountains everywhere!🌄
We will come back in summer, for more activities and Rossfeld Panoramastrasse.

All you can ask from a proper hotel, you get here! Location, rooms, breakfast and spa are all very nice.

Workers are competent and friendly, and for the price, you really could not ask for more.
