A lovely hilltop village to visit perched on top of what looks like a mountain. The views are great. Lovely cathedral to visit in the centre with some quaint little bars and restaurants. There is also contemporary art gallery to visit housed in a church next to a very nice 4* hotel.

Worth the uphill walk from the bottom of the town towards the Parador, and across the bridge to this breathtaking view. Go in the morning/early afternoon for the best pics as the shadows will fall across the facade in the late afternoon.

Amazing and precarious architecture! Lovely old town to walk. You can get a beautiful view of the hanging houses from the Parador across the way. There is a bridge that will also give you a good vantage point for excellent photos. It is imperative to visit this town in either the spring or the fall as the summer is unbearable and uncomfortable and the winter is just too cold to really tske the time to appreciate the beauty. You can also visit the nearby rock formations if you have a car. Cuenca is easy to get to by car (but parking isn't easy). The bus runs regularly from Madrid.

One of the most beautiful towns in Spain. The drive to Cuenca (from Zaragoza etc) is something not to be missed. The change in scenery is mesmerising- from flat dry lands to cliffs to tall trees. Cuenca is out of this world - it’s location, the views, the cobble stone streets and some very nice eateries. The hanging houses are the obvious attractions but a walk of the town is time well spent. The drive along with the walk around the town is very underrated but something not to be missed around this part of Spain

Great place for a couple of days, the old town and the hills behind. Town has some great history and the views of the two valleys that sandwich it are fantastic. The National Park to the north west is also well worth a drive and walks if you are of that ilk. Not really a place well known to the Brits but deffo worth a visit and stop overnight, or two, if you can. Great place.

Amazing part of Spain.
Cuenca was recommended to us by a friend of mind.
We stopped by for a couple of days on our way to Madrid and boy, was that a good choice.
The atmosphere, architecture, food. All was great.
Highly recommended

Relatively easy hike uphill but the views are very rewarding. Spectacular views from the mirador. A day trip will suffice, but you can easily find ways to spend more time, preferably appreciating the beautiful scenery.

Cuenca, located in the mountains of east-central Spain in the river banks of the Júcar and Huécar rivers. Ancient castle and other building. Moors had developed the city after identifying it's strategic importance in the region. Had been famous for textile manufacturing. Few old attractions and can be visited within a day. Highly recommended and authentic city. Loved this day-trip.

Please don't pass this historic town by, stop and take in a real character of a place. The hanging houses, river walks, suspended bridge, cobbled streets, cafe's, bars, individual artisan shops, cathedrals all make a great trip. We will be going back.

The rating is more for the town and it's natural beauty than the actual houses. The houses are built along the cliff face rather than actually hanging. Either way it is impressive but when compared to the surroundings I found that I spent more time admiring the rest of the city with its many hills and winding streets than the actual houses. Definitely needed more time to explore the many alleyways.

My husband and I had fun exploring the streets of Cuenca. I had read somewhat to take a taxi from the train station to the top. We did. The driver dropped us off by the bridge then we walked across and the most photographed hanging home was right there. When the taxi driver dropped us off we arranged for him to pick us back up in the same spot 30 minutes before our train departure, back to Madrid. I'm glad we arranged that on the front end, because I never did see a lot of taxis in that area.

Walking down the narrow lane of this medieval town is an experience

Tips - One can see it from many points .. and most popular one is from Bridge ... but to really experience the wonderful view of hanging house .. go to Castillo and see it hill town (hanging houses from remote)

Nothing less then a wonder

The houses are only a tiny part of what makes Cuenca such a cool place to visit. The town is beautiful, with beautiful well- maintained little houses set into the mountain overlooking incredible views. Inside one of the hanging houses there's a modern art gallery which is an interesting mix of old and new and definitely worth checking out.

It was fascinating. Not wheelchairs accesible. Local restaurants close before 2 PM, but there is good food.

Sure it's a steep climb up the hill but you're certainly more than amply rewarded for your efforts with jaw dropping views over the old houses perched along the cliffs of Cuenca!!
