I wanted to get out of Madrid for one night and took the train to Cuenca. I was very surprised by the beautiful old town and the clubs with local people were great too. I can recommend taking the train or bus.

What an amazing place to be.. I didn't know about this place when in my road to Madrid my girlfriend sawed on the map! From the moment you are visiting the old city you are going 2-3 century's back in time!

Can't really explain how beautiful this city is, and this place in particular it is breathtaking as you can really feel the old times while you walk nearby the castle. You can also park your car and there are bars and restaurants up here, in summer the temperature is below 30 degrees which helps. I would reccomend to come here in early morning.

This is an amazing place. The views are spectacular. So unique, with the hanging houses and the rivers, the mountains and the history of the place. We really enjoyed our visit and we'll come back one day.

Interesting ruins in Cuenca. Parking available but you need to be lucky. Visited in October and very popular. I expect it's much busier in Summer. Cuenca has lots of hills. Be prepared for the heat and lots of walking up and down hills in the high temperatures. Good selection of bars and restaurants just past the castle. Nice walking routes around countryside and into town. Great views. Worth the walk from the Cathedral (15 mins).
