Villa Hermosa Colina

Hands down the best vacation rental I have ever been to! 🤩
This was the second time I’ve visited with my family. We have two small kids (ages 2 and 5) and the convenience factor is a big plus; you can send a shopping list and the fridge will be full at your arrival, Claire will cook at your request (she makes a mean seafood paella!), you can book massages at the house etc.
The surroundings are beautiful! A full 180-view of the ocean, fruit trees, great big avocado trees and no noice or disturbance from neighbors. Every room is tastefully done, the beds are super comfortable(!), the salt water pool overlooks the ocean and has a shallow end great for smaller kids. (The pool can be heated if you visit in the spring.) Claire and Dough visits with their adopted orphaned dogs (only if you want them to), which is a big hits for kids and adults alike😄
8 minutes drive from the house you will find two small villages with supermarkets, beach, restaurants and (if you go to Salobreña, which is my recommendation), there is a really nice cafe / ice cream place).
I have zero negative comments about the house, location or Claire and Dough, that are just the most amazing people!
We plan to make a visit to this place a family tradition!

Such an incredible location, the views are absolutely breathtaking. Its the perfect place to relax in the sun with a very nice pool for when it gets too hot - when the temperature dropped in the evening the hot tube was great to move over to. The hosts are also lovely and very easy to get along with.

Wonderful place to enjoy the Spanish sunshine and all the surrounding places of interest. The villa is very well furnished and plenty to see and do in the sloping gardens. Doug and Claire are very attentive hosts.

Our holiday at the villa was just what we all needed. Such tranquil, and relaxing gardens and and really cool decor gives the house a wonderful atmosphere. Clare and Doug are amazing hosts, and the food which Clare prepared for us, both breakfasts and evening meals were out of this world! (and great value too!). I also had an amazing massage from Pascale down by the Eco Pool. It was one of the best massages I have had, and the sounds of the birds and frogs really added to the experience (in a good way!)
Watch out for the steep drive up to the villa though. The last bit is a bit "interesting"

We had an amazing restful stay at this beautiful, tastefully decorated villa. The villa is equipped with all the amenities you could possibly hope for. The pool area has a hot tub as well as comfortable areas to relax and a pool side fridge for your pool side drinks. They really have thought of everything!
Clare and Doug are incredible hosts and were on hand for advice and help if needed. Clare is an amazing cook and offers a welcome meal at a very reasonable price. The hosts really do try to meet your every need and will go out of their way to tailor your stay to make it an amazing experience. They even have an eco pond with a fantastic area for yoga classes and retreats which as a yoga teacher I will definitely use in the future.
An unexpected highlight of the holiday for us was the fact that the hosts have rescue dogs and cats in their own villa further up the hill, and having lost our lovely dog recently we couldn’t leave without adopting one of the rescue puppies.
All in all a super relaxing holiday to remember, with an unexpected gorgeous furry bonus!

We had a fantastic 4 day reunion with family. Doug & Clare are wonderful hosts. They have a lovely villa in a gorgeous setting. Clare is a fantastic cook. If you don't want to go out we would recommend any of her dishes.

My stay at Hermosa Colina was amazing. Clare and Doug are truly lovely people and make wonderful hosts.
We stayed in the main villa- it has everything you might need, including a lovely spacious balcony/terrace overlooking the pool, with beautiful panoramic views of the sea (we ate every meal out there).
The food was also incredibly delicious!
I felt very lucky to find somewhere so lovely to stay and would recommend to anyone.

Just got back from an amazing long weekend at Villa Hermosa Colina with a big group of friends. Its such a beautiful spot we couldn't of been happier with it! Thank you Claire and Doug for be best hosts, so lovely and helpful. We will be back next year for sure if you'll have us ❤

What a wonderful holiday we had at the villa. The best family holiday in July! I cannot speak highly enough of Clare and Doug, who go the extra mile to make sure your stay is simply perfect. Clare’s exceptional cooking is a must! We all loved the villa and all it had to offer, including an outdoor gym area, near the pool. We have fond memories of the water walk (thanks to Clare and Doug) with the wonderful surprise at the end, the fab restaurants nearby and the kayaking and paddle boarding. We really cannot recommend this villa highly enough with the best hosts you could wish for. It is a little bit of paradise for a few summer weeks and we hope to be back again soon. We visited Villa Hermosa's Colina for our friends 30th birthday and Claire and Doug couldn't have done more. My room had an amazing view over looking the pool and sea. The day beds and jacuzzi were great and provided the perfect back drop for the weekend.

Whatever you think you can expect from the pictures, double that in the real world. This amazing villa is located beautifully on a mountain with a breathtaking 180-degree view.

Inside the villa, you will find a beautifully decorated house with wonderful (and air-conditioned!) bedrooms - each with its own bathroom. A well-equipped kitchen and a spacious living room await you. Outside is where you want to live your life. There are several seating areas - at least one is always in the shade - a really cool bar with an extra fridge for your drinks (yay!), and cabanas for relaxation. You are surrounded by a very nice garden with flowers and paths for you to explore.

Clare and Doug are your dream hosts. They make you feel very welcome. They go above and beyond to make your stay special and tailored just for you - whether you want them close for tips, tricks, and advice or in the background. They've got you covered.

Clare and Doug also offer to cook for you. We celebrated a birthday during our stay and had Clare and Doug make dinner for us. They gave us so much more than a great food experience (they can really, really cook!). They also created the most memorable night for us by letting us eat at the eco pool overlooking Salobreña at dusk. Wow.

If you like dogs, this place is heaven. Clare and Doug take in dogs and then give them up for adoption (yes, you can actually bring home a darn cute puppy). They let you interact with the animals if you want to. If not, you won't see them at all.

It's hard to leave the beautiful villa, but there are several things you should try. You can walk from the house to the beach, which has super clear water, great seashell finds, and even a little taverna that serves really delicious fresh Spanish fish dishes. You can also hike all the way up to the top of the mountain. You'll find yourself above the clouds with magical views at both sunset and sundown. It is worth it!

The location of the house is amazing. You have Salobréña on one side and Almuñécar on the other. You can reach both within 15 minutes. You can also reach Granada, Alhambra, Malaga, Frigiliana, and much, much more within an hour.

The mountains and nature alone are worth traveling for. If you like the outdoors, there are plenty of fun things to do: hiking, climbing, canyoning. You can have it all. If you don't know where to go, ask Clare and Doug. They know their stuff!

The area offers pretty much everything for a foodie. Whatever you prefer, please do give the fish, shellfish, and other seafood a chance. It's absolutely delicious. Again, ask Clare and Doug where to go - and where not to go. They know what's cooking in their area.

We cannot thank Clare and Doug enough for two beautiful weeks at Villa Hermosa Colina. We will be back - because they also do events!

Last weekend, me, my cat, and a few lovely friends were in need of a relaxing holiday stay, so we came to this amazing villa. Sure to say, we all had the best time.

The views are absolutely breathtaking, and the remote location is perfect; isolated yet so close to everything (by car ofc). FYI, there was no problem accessing the house in my old, broken down car.

The beds are super soft and comfy, and the house spacious and charming. We took a stroll around the beautiful garden which was so lovely, ate some fresh fruit before dipping our toes into the pool. Later at night, we as well enjoyed a evening trip to the hot tub.

The owners, Clare and Daug, took such good care of us and made us such a tasty breakfast - we really felt so welcome and at home. I was thrilled that they are animal lovers like my friend group, so I could bring my cat with me, who as well, really enjoyed her stay while making some new friends.

We all dream of returning someday in the future. Thank you so much for everything. ❤

What a great find!

We booked Villa Hermosa Colina direct with the friendly and truly hospitable owners for a family reunion of six adults and it was just perfect! We also saved a nice amount and got a lovely free breakfast thrown in by booking direct.

The villa is an easy drive (c.1 hour 15 mins) from Malaga and sits on a hillside high above the Med, with spectacular views both ways along the coast and towards the distant horizon. The grounds have a huge variety of flowers, plants and trees and Doug and Clare are happy to tell you what's what and pick you a fresh lemon for your G&T!

Outside, there's a pool, jacuzzi, outdoor kitchen/bar and ample sunbeds to stretch out and chill out on - plus a few quiet corners to retreat to with a good book should you wish.

Inside, the rooms are individually and interestingly decorated and everything we needed was there.There's plenty of room to dine inside or outside on the balcony to enjoy meals prepared in the well appointed kitchen. The decor is eclectic - lovely quirky touches here and there.

Doug and Clare love animals (but if you don't that's OK as they mainly stay where the owners live further up the hill) and they had four cats and four dogs, which was great.

Doug and Clare could not have been more helpful with information and restaurant recommendations and bookings, directions, suggestions for walks, etc. and we loved that they are so keen on being as eco as possible in this little corner of paradise.

We found the vibe at Villa Hermosa Colina relaxed, informal, eclectic, fun, interesting and welcoming. Great hosts, great holiday! Thank you, Clare & Doug.

Need to know:
- it's a drive to the beach and nearest town - a car is a must if you want to explore the area
- you need to be happy with hills - you don't get those views without being up a (fairly steep) incline
- La Roka restaurant in Salobrena is great for a special meal out
- Loved the market in Almunecar - full of all sorts of pre-loved stuff!

We had a wonderfully relaxing stay at Hermosa Colina. The location of this beautifully-styled house would be hard to beat: very private, at the top of a hill, nestled in the most lush and exotic gardens and with stunning views out to sea. There are balconies and tiered terraces that all provide different magical perspectives, and it is almost impossible not to unwind completely in such a setting. The accommodation is very comfortable and stylish, with Balinese accents throughout. Clare and Doug are very discreet hosts, and it is reassuring to know that they are not that far away if you ever need anything. We loved our stay and will certainly return before too long.

I spent a week at this incredible accommodation last summer with my young family.

We stumbled across it by accident whilst looking for somewhere a little different.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel so welcome. The hosts greeted us like friends, very helpful and clearly knew the local area and how to provide a luxury experience.

They were available to us if we wanted anything, but we rarely needed them. They provided us with the most stunning location to relax in.

The pool was gorgeous, and what a view!

The house was decorated to a high standard, and the beds were so comfortable.

The hosts were able to recommend so fabulous days out, and places to eat locally. We took advantage of their recommendations, and wow!

I would return to Villa Hermiosa Colina again (and we never go somewhere twice!).
I would also recommend to anyone looking for a gorgeous, quiet, relaxing holiday.

We have just returned from a a weeks family holiday at Villa Hermosa Colina, and we couldn't have asked anymore from a holiday. With our mix of adults, teenagers and children we had everything we needed to keep everyone happy, from the salt water pool and toys to the lovely puppies popping down to see the children. The beautiful nearby towns of Salobrena and Nerja are perfect for little day trips if we fancied some local food or a stroll along the beach. Clare and Doug were a wealth of local knowledge when it came to booking places and getting around so thanks again guys :-)

Stunning setting of the gorgeous villa, it's like something out of a film set! The owners Clare & Doug & their band of rescue pets were a wonderful welcome! The villa has everything you need & more, gorgeous pool, great hot tub & even a bar next to the pool. We stayed 3 nights but really do wish it was longer. The little terrace off the main bedroom was perfect for morning coffee & just to sit & listen to the birds & the frogs. This is a beautiful place to relax & unwind, peaceful & calm. We booked this as a retreat & were not disappointed! Hoping to come back very soon, keep up the good work Clare & Doug, you are creating something magical!

We recently spent a fabulous holiday at this wonderful Villa. The accommodation, amenities, views and hospitality were absolutely superb. The location is great, whilst feeling relaxed and away from all the hustle and bustle there are many attractions and activities within a short distance. We have stayed at many Villas over the years and have yet to find better hosts that Clare and Doug. Nothing was too much bother for them, they were to so warm and welcoming. We will certainly be booking this Villa again next year.

Superb Villa with the most amazing owners. We stayed here for two weeks in August 2021 and had the best family holiday ever. We booked the Villa and the static Lorry conversion which is located in a separate area with its own Eco Pool. The Villa is set high in the hills with the most amazing views, it has a beautiful pool (with a bar area) and a hot tub. What more could you want? Well actually, you do get MORE! We were treated to a the most amazing welcome meal and a fabulous complimentary breakfast. I also booked an evening meal for my grandsons birthday and I can honestly say that the food the owners provide is far better than any of the local bars and restaurants (and we ate a quite a few over the two weeks). In addition you also get loads of helpful free advice from the owners about local places and general information. If you are an animal lover, this place is a must for you! The owners support a range of animal charities, foster and own some beautiful dogs and donate a percentage of direct booking fees to animal charities. The gardens and grounds of the Villa have a tropical feel (It reminded me of places I have stayed in Bali) and you can even treat yourself to an excellent massage in one of the on-site Yurts. I would highly recommend this Villa and I will certainly be returning next year. Thanks for a truly wonderful (much needed) holiday.
