It’s nice to go after the visit to the Archelogical site of Atapuerca. We have discovered what they have found from millions of years ago. Sincerely incredible, and mandatory to go to see the reason of our position as humans.

Wonderful visit. If you want to listen to narratives at specific stations be sure and ask for a device when you pay admission.

Overall...this is a highly educational and illustrious museum.

There could be some improvement to the lighting in the displays that contain a narrative. Some were difficult to read without bending up or down to change the glare from lighting outside the display.

Well worth the trip.

Great place for kids and adults. This area of Spain has one of the best preserved fossil records of human evolution of anywhere in the world.

Amazing place! I think it’s the best museum I’ve ever visited! Everything is not only fascinating but so well put together and displayed. The design of the museum and the exhibits is really fantastic. I will definitely go back!

Really interesting museum and one of the few Spanish museums we have visited that has a lot of English information printed alongside the Spanish.
We spent hours going round and learned a lot!
The person selling tickets seemed determined to get us in without paying and carefully went through a list of reasons that would allow her to waive the fee. Since we're retired we didn't have to pay!

One of the tidiest and most interesting museums I’ve been to. Free entree on Wednesday, just awesome!

English friendly museum.
A fun thing to do if you have spare time in Burgos. Took me about 3-4 hours to read everything and take in the museum sights. 8.5/10 recommend.

Amazing place to explore the journey of human race and human beings as well as the evolution as a whole process with huge multimedia, 3D technology and fascinating video rooms. One of my favourite was the brain installation. Recommended for children as well with basic information and videos/animations appropriate for children/students but it contains lots of interesting stuff for adults also.

Well thought out museum in a beautiful space. Some very interesting artifacts to see. Information in English and Spanish. We spent one hour there. Social distancing cues there and masks required. Not just a buff

The museum has displays covering the excavations, geology and prehistoric use of the caves near Atapuerca, the human bones excavated there (which are amongst the oldest in Europe), the physical differences between the species of early hominids, and cultural differences between Neanderthals and prehistoric Homo Sapiens. (There were also sections on evolution, the brain and the Mammoth). Display descriptions are in Spanish and English. Museum guides give interesting talks on various sections of the museum, but these are in Spanish. One can easily spend a whole day there.

Exceeded expectations! A large, modern museum on 4 levels: each level featuring 1) Sierra de Atapuerca archeological sites and discoveries 2) Biological evolution, 3) cultural humanization & 4) ecosystem evolution.
Amazing exhibits of Darwin’s HMS Beagle, a huge “working brain” made from electric wires, genetics, mankind mastering of fire and a movie on “Ecosystems in evolution”
With an optional audio guide (€3) and the excellent bilingual displays and dynamic exhibits you can easily spend several hours there. There is also a Pilgrims stamp and discount.

Great museum - not only presents the finds but also explains the archaeology behind them.

The museum is housed in a building complex designed by a Spanish award-winning architect and is stunning to experience. The wide open space of the interior is dominated by a recreation of the landscape of the Sierra de Atapuerca, which is the location of the nearby UNESCO world heritage sites where significant human and hominid fossils have been found.

These significant fossils are housed on the lower floor level. Of particular note are the unique remains of Homo antecessor. An archaic human species which was present in Western Europe between 1.2 and 0.8 million years ago. This is the oldest fossil record of the Homo linage that has been found in Europe. Artifacts and bones from the cave where they were found, suggest that H.antecessor may have practiced cannibalism. Our current day knowledge suggests that H.antecessor was an early form of H.heidelbergensis, who are in turn seen as the ancestors of the European Neanderthals. Fossil remains of all these other species are found in the museum and have also come from the Sierra de Atapuerca area.

You come up from the lower level to the ground floor. This is dedicated to the theory of evolution, including a life-size recreation of  hominoid, hominid and human species - not to be missed. The other floor levels are reached by open-plan escalators which sweep up through the building showcasing the architecture. The first floor looks at the development of human culture and technology, whilst the second floor looks at human evolution in the context different eco-systems.  Overall this is a five-star museum, with high quality curation of exhibitions and innovative displays which integrate and use in an inventive way new technology.

Excellent experience, very educational and a stunning building. Allow 2hrs for a visit at least. We enjoyed the English translation at most exhibits and I particularly enjoyed the VR headset experience a 1st for me but no doubt the kids are experts. Vending machines on top floor nice coffee and all snacks. Plenty of loos and the lovely young lady on the desk gave us a 100% discount being pensioners. 5 stars from us.

The exhibitions are every detailed and interesting. Although I have some knowledge in the matter, I’ve learnt many new things. Besides, it’s always stunning to see old pre-historic tools and skeletons ;)

Beautifully designed museum and very informative! We walked past the Atapuerca site while walking the Camino and decided to come to the museum when we arrived in Burgos. The different exhibits were laid out beautifully and did a great job of explaining the findings of the excavation. We really enjoyed the thinking and detail put into the museum space. I would highly recommend a visit here when you’re in Burgos!
