Hoya De La Mora

Highest point you can reach by car (about 2500m), the drive up was so beautiful we stopped so many times to take it. Once at the top, the views are breathtaking - pictures really can’t do it justice. Couple of cafes at the top hat were open even out of season and were a welcome place for lunch with a view! Well worth the drive up here

Great afternoon hike. Free parking and a few cafes. Very quiet on route which was lovely. Followed the river and crossed some bridges. We followed an all trails route - which was easy to follow and offered some views. Would recommend and do again!

Amazing place and free for all, my son had fun using his sledge on the snow, free parking, ver popular place for families and adventure seekers.

Cycled up here from the coast at Motril and the views from the top were fantastic 👏

This is at around 2.493m the closest you get by car to the summit of the second highest peak of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, which is el Veleta. From there you can easily walk up there in summer (in winter you must take the necessary precautions). Hoya de la Mora is also next to the Virgen de las Nieves and is ideal in winter for fun in the snow with the family for free. There are also kiosks and other little shops and services.

Walking around the mountain was incredible. I definitely didn't expect to see snow while on my trip to Spain.

To escape from the hot weather in July and August this is the best place to be. Lots of hiking and not busy. Perfect place to chill in the summer

Hiked in the middle of the summer (mid-Jul) and the weather was chilly and sunny; shorts should be fine but a wind jacket is recommended as the wind was strong.

No technical skills are required as it's a straight road all the way up to the peak, but physically demanding, especially at the last 15 minutes. I took 2.5 hrs uphill and 2 hrs downhill.

A nice place to be visited for winter sports or for climbing Sierra Nevada.

It is the best starting point of a trekking at Sierra Nevada. A free parking, at the university building one can buy a ticket for the bus up the mountains (it shortens the trip to Mulhacen and back to 20 km which is manageable in one day). Views are not as great as from upper parts of the mountains but are breathtaking too.
