San Antón, albergue (Castrojeriz)

Many people have their own ideas about the most unique experiences on the magical path that is the camino, and most I didn't stay at so can't comment. But, I'm not sure anything could match our stay at this beautifully haunting atmospheric ruins underneath the milky way. The venue was matched only by the warmth of the hospiteleros, especially Antonino. The energy of the place is amazing, and I think there were 14 of us staying there on what was a perfect Indian summers evening at the start of October (no coincidence this randomly coincided with my birthday :)). We ate, we drank, we laughed, we hugged, we cried and we all seemed to be aware of just what a once in a lifetime experience it was we were all lucky to live that spell-binding night encompassed in the soaring ruins of this beautiful place. Yes there is no electric, and basically no phone connection - and I hope they never change that. We washed up by torch-light, we slept underneath the stars pointing us all to our ultimate destination, and we awoke to eat breakfast by candle-light and I don't think any of us ever wanted to leave really.
Without doubt this one experience encompassed everything that is magical and special about the camino, and why in the world we live we must do our best to preserve things like this - it reminds us how beautiful, magical and simple life is.
The Albergue is a Donativo, and I hope everyone supports it in the spirit it is intended. One thing is for sure, you cannot put a price on a night at this simply magical place and with the amazing volunteers that make it possible.
I hope one day I will return - and I hope nothing will have changed.

The Ruins of San Anton monastery, that has nearly a thousand years of history of hosting and treating pilgrims. Now one of the most atmospheric and spiritual places to stay in on the Camino Frances!

Even without hot water (there is running water and a fully functional flush toilet!) or electricity (the days are long now anyways!), the fairly recently added albergue inside the ruins has very comfortable beds under a roof for a quiet night's sleep.

Capacity is at 12 beds, most pilgrims opt for the comforts of Castrojeriz hence I was the first one at noon and we were only 5 in total in the end.

Last but not least we were treated with warm hospitality by the experienced and genuine volunteering hospitaleros with intimate small group conversations over a lovely dinner.

One of my favorite stays on the Camino. Loved being off-grid and the beauty of the ruins. Wonderful volunteer hosts.

Amazing and unique place to stay during the camino, the energy of the place is magical!
There are only 10beds to stay, however please be aware that no electricity or hot water but this is part of the experience!

Un luogo incantevole. In assoluto la location più bella di tutto il cammino di Santiago. Ho avuto il piacere di incontrare come hospitalero Marcel e la sua splendida famiglia! Un ottimo cuoco, insalata ricchissima e colazione abbondante per iniziare la giornata nei migliore dei modi. Mancano ancora molti kilometri ma so già che questa sarà l'esperienza più bella di tutto il cammino. Grazie

非常特別的體驗，如果可以的話會是很棒的Camino之夜。但沒有熱水，沒得充電，晚上沒有電，很冷，可是有滿滿的愛。
自由樂捐，提供晚餐與早餐，晚餐19:00開始，有生菜沙發、tortilla、西班牙麵線，早餐08:00開始簡單的麵包、奶油、果醬、咖啡、差、牛奶

Lieu unique et très spécial. Quel cadeau de pouvoir y passer la soirée, la nuit, y partager un dîner et le tout en donativo ! Pas d'électricité ni d'eau chaude. Ici, on revient à un style de vie simple et convivial. Une parenthèse de la technologie ne fait pas de mal!

Un posto eccezionale nel bel mezzo del cammino di Santiago. Dormire tra le rovine di un vecchio convento, con una stellata da togliere il fiato è un'esperienza unica. Grazie a Ovidio per la sua ottima cena e la sua grande ospitalità !

El Camino de Santiago es especial pero creo que hay dos momentos que se te quedaran para toda la vida. Uno, obviamente, cuando llegas a Santago. El otro? Pasar la noche en las ruinas del convento de San Anton y su Cristo de las escorias. El precio del sitio es a voluntad y solo tiene lugar para 12 peregrinos.

Existen lugares en el camino que dejan una marca en nuestra alma, uno de ellos es el Monasterio de San Antón, remanso de Paz y de Espiritualidad en el Camino de Santiago.

Como innumerables personas que a través de los siglos han transitado, descansado y sanado en este emplazamiento, tú también, querido peregrino, has llegado a este extraordinario enclave del Camino, atraído por la majestuosidad de sus piedras, por su extensa historia jacobea o quizás en búsqueda de algo que ni siquiera tú sabes.

Al recorrer el Camino de Santiago nuestra meta es el sepulcro del Apóstol, pero durante tantas jornadas de camino, vas intuyendo que hay una meta más elevada y transcendente; el encuentro con Cristo y su seguimiento, tal como lo hizo el Apóstol Santiago, que entregó su vida por su Señor y por el anuncio del Evangelio.

A través del Apóstol Santiago, encomiéndate al Señor y abandónate a su divina providencia. Él te acompañará y protegerá en tu camino, actuará con toda su fuerza y poder, y ocurrirán milagros en tu vida.
