Hotel L'esplanade

Hotel L'esplanade is an outstanding hotel. The location is fantastic, with a superb view overlooking the Dordogne River valley. The rooms were well appointed and well equipped. The service was impeccable -- Hotel L'explanade is a family-run establishment, and everyone we met were very friendly and solicitous of our every need. The dinner we had at the hotel restaurant was one of the finest we have ever experienced – the surroundings were magical –a beautiful dining room with a spectacular view of the Dordogne River Valley, the service was flawless, and the food was absolutely delicious. We had a wonderful one-night stay and would be delighted to visit there again.

Room had a fabulous view over the Dordogne valley. Our hostess at dinner was very helpful with wine selection. Food was magnificent. And to top it all off, I left my phone charger at the hotel and they delivered it the next day to my accomodation at La Roque. Above and beyond. Thank you Sophie.

Lovely dinning French experience with excellent quality food.

We knew we wanted to head to the best vantage point to watch the sun go down and boy we found it. The restaurants terrace was magnificent. The sun has gone down and so have a couple of aperitifs so it was time for dinner and boy this didn’t disappoint either. The food was excellent as was the service. Dogs were allowed into the restaurant which was a real added bonus. The ambience was very welcoming and relaxing with attentive but with non intrusive service. Will definitely return. Thank you.

Hotel is in a fantastic position overlooking the Dordogne valley below. They have a large indoor restaurant but understandably we preferred to have meals on the terrace overlooking the amazing view! We would definitely recommend the restaurant too - wonderful food ( don't miss the huge selection of cheese on their cheese board trolley!) The weather was unusually hot whilst we were there - we were very glad of the air conditioned rooms.The staff were all very friendly and helpful - especially the hotel owner ( Sophie) . Thank you - I'm sure we'll be back!

The rooms have plenty of character with a stunning view overlooking the Dordogne, food and service on the terrace is top level. Definitely worth a visit.

A nice old fashioned hotel with helpful staff and a nice view over the valley and river from the restaurant and some rooms. The rooms had air conditioning which was nice in the high temps of recent days. As with anyplace in the city, it was a convenient spot from which to explore. They did not have parking but it was not difficult to find free on the street parking nearby.

We ate dinner here with our children for an end of holiday treat. The food was excellent, the service was both friendly and efficient and the view across the Dordogne valley was fantastic.

The food and service was fabulous and because it was our 30th wedding anniversary we had a table with a fantastic view. Thank you for a great evening.
