When in Brest you should try this original crab resturant. The decor is wonderfull, created by the lady owner. Sign your crab shell and have it placed on the beams somewhere maybe if there is a spare place. Once you have ordered your choice of crab, there are two, you will be served your crab with a hammer. A big plastic bucket is placed on the floor to throw your waste into, better than having crab shell all over the table. Luckily the personel are more than willing to explain how to get the meat out if like me your not sure. Everyone was laughing as hammers were put to work, and the crab shells flying around the resturant. Tables that are covered with newspaper are simple rustic garden style with matching benches to sit on. A really unique experience.
My wife chose half a crab and 6 oysters, i had half a crab with 300grams of Langustines. Two desserts and 4 drinks for 100€

Best crab we have ever eaten! Oysters and langostines were so tasty.
Such lovely team of waiting staff, explained everything in English when our French attempt failed.
We will be back before we leave Brest!!

Great place for seafood lovers! It has an interesting concept: no formal menu, waiters just tell you what they have today and you have to choose. We had oysters and crabs, all was just perfect.

What a great experience. We shared one crab between two and were very satisfied. The staff are so nice as well.

Excellent crabs and service. House white wine is also worth trying. Be careful to leave space in your stomach for a very typical bretagne dessert: Kouign amman pastry. Amazing taste!

Original restaurant. Crab meals served with wooden hammer. All customers given a cover to protect them from seafood juices! All seafood served is caught the same morning. Beautifully fresh, tasty and not expensive for the meal. Great waiter/waitress service, knowledgeable, willing to accommodate all requests. Super. Top.

I love the crab here. The flesh is sweet and perfectly cooked. The claws are like the stone crab if Florida. The flesh is as good as the Dungeness crab and mud crab. Wow,! I highly recommend this restaurant.

Great restaurant in the harbor of Brest. My gang and I spent a cheerful evening at Le Crabe Marteau, all that crab eating ritual, the grilled lobster or the perfect fish soup shall not be soon forgotten. Was so great that we closed the restaurant cause the staff was really nice not to rush us out. Which is a rare attitude in France. We are still laughing when we remember the answer we’ve got from the waiter when we asked for the drinks menu: “I am the menu”. Ok, so what kind of wine do you have? “White, red and rose!”.:)))

There isnt that many places to go in this town on Sundays and Mondays however I am so happy I found Le Crabe Marteau. The smell of the Atlantic ocean had me craving seafood and crab was on top of my list. I enjoyed a delicious spider crab with many different mayos and small potatoes for €23 which blew my mind from a value perspective. I also drank some artisanal cider that was mind blowing and dirt cheap. Staff was fun and friendly. Highly recommended!

Wonderfull food. A lot of crabs and langostinos. We really enjoyed rustical eating and best crab dishes I had for a long time.
But you have to reserve table. We were very lucky to get one at short notice.

Awesome seafood restaurant. The main meal is based on different types of crabs: tourteau or araignée (spider crab). We had tourteau and langoustines (a type of prawns). Everything is served with boiled potatoes and very tasty sauces.
It is easy to park nearby.

Super!

It's a lovely experience and not just a restaurant.
You feel a lovely vibe and it's super fun teying to smash the crabs.
You have also other options on the menu in case someone doesn't fancy crab.
The place is small but cozy and it's a must to visit in Brest!

Very fresh, delicious crabs served with a mallet, potatoes, and side sauces. The oysters and langoustines looked gorgeous though I didn't try them. Sitting on the terrace at the communal tables is fun and I had a lovely natter with the family next to me. The giant clamp and lever the waiters use for shucking oysters is impressive gadgetry (never seen anything like it). Service outdoors on the terrace was reasonable if a little brusque.

A really fun experience. For someone who rarely eats sea food and doesn't like to experiment this was an eye opener. The whole process of getting the food out of the shell is quite enjoyable and with the help of the lovely waitresses you smash and you pry the shell in search of the ehite meat. The food itself was amazing and really fresh, which for seafood i guess is the best compliment.
