Lovely place to get history a lesson on the area of Brest. The Chateau covers a huge area and housed inside is the Marine Museum. Naval history at its best! Models of ships used throughout France's conquests and exploration expeditions are on display. Plenty to keep the kids engaged. The views of the bay are fabulous as well.

Oldest Maritime museum in Europe if not the world. Housed within a castle. Only 7euros for adults - excellent value. Good history of the castle and the dock areas in addition to the navy and the different types of ships. Get the audio guide which is free and comes in different languages.

Many fascinating things to see. But careful, there is marine base just nearby. So, no photos in that direction

Wonderful, historical museum of maritime artifacts. Be prepared to climb a lot of stairs. Not an easy visit for the handicapped.

Nice museum with amazing views from the towers and the walls, especially on the sunny day. You can see the bay, the port and the old city in their beauty. Now is especially great time to visit since there are very few people in attendance

Though I have visited the Naval Museum of Brest in January, today I have decided to take a night view of one of main gates. It is great piece of French Military architecture!

Very nice museum, the audioguide is a definite plus. Both the Dutch and English versions were great and made the museum worth a visit. The museum tells in great detail about the involvement and role of the city of Brest since it's beginning. Would definitely recommend this to any tourist who visits the city and is interested about it's history!

A museum that takes you through the history of the castle and of Brest. The entrance fee comes with a very good audio tour. We spend almost the entire afternoon here, enjoying the tour and the views from the towers.

This is a very nice combination of visiting an ancient (but well preserved) castle with a naval museum and an exhibition - currently about Razzle Dazzle. Audo guides are available in different languages. Definitely worthwhile a visit for a few interesting hours.

Great museum - we spent 3h with our kids (6 and 4y). There are audioguides in several languages. It helps to be able to read French, though.
