It was a bit of a steep walk up to St. Stephan today but we’ll worth it. The view from the courtyard spans the Old town and the Rhine Valley and is so lovely! The cathedral itself is magnificent. The original was heavily bombed during WW II but has been rebuilt.
Located high on the Münsterberg, its two towers, the building hides outstanding works of art.

Nice little "actice" church in Breisach. It is a little bit of a steep walk for the elderly up to the church, but the view, and the time spent in the church and surrounding area is worth it. Afterwards, walk down, enjoy the city square and relax with a Café at one of the local shops.
Note, a couple of the pictures are panoramic.

Absolutely worth the walk up thru town to this cathedral! So much history! We walked around & admired the stonework of not only the building itself, but also the surrounding grounds! This beautiful cathedral is a vantage point where the valley sits below the walls & River Rhine winds nearby!

Although it was heavily damaged in WWII, it was rebuilt and today stands as a marker to be viewed from anywhere in the region. Breisach is rich in history and a lovely place to explore. We are making plans to return to enjoy the town and visit The Black Forest.

The church stands as an old sentinel watching over the town high on a hill. A very picturesque and quaint little town along the Rhine river.

The Stephansmünster is a beautiful Romanesque/Gothic cathedral on top of a hill. The Rathaus and the famous bull statue lie on one side, and you can get a stunning view of the Rhine on the other side!

Very historic and little of old Breisach after the ravages of the French - "la Grande Nation," as Louis XIV would have it. They destroyed it with artillery fire from across the Rhine in WW2. Louis annexed large regions of Germany in 17thC.
