Impeccable.
After friends raved about Le Prieuré, I decided to stay during Festival d’Avignon, and my expectations were beyond exceeded.
The grounds, the vibe, the food, the room, the location, all divine.
The staff were each so lovely from the front desk, the pool, the restaurant.
I’d arranged with the concierge to hire an E-bike prior to my arrival and they handled everything perfectly.
Bravo.

Gorgeous, quiet, fab gardens, xcellent food, in an old part of Avignon. The restaurant with a Michelin star was so pleasant. Food was served on individual arty plates and the tastes were exceptional. The main theme was cucumbers and fennels. There was a sponge cake made with verveine and citrus, oyster shells housing a cucumber mousse with oysters. We had a fabulous pigeon slow cooked on low fire. The result was unbelievably tasty. Highly recommended!

Very nice hotel. Conveniently located. Easy walk to many sites.

Room was spacious, as was bathrooms. Concierge and all staff were very friendly and helpful. Dinner and service was topnotch!

Only downside was the towel heater didn't seem to work, but we did not let front desk know.

Great place to relax after days of sightseeing and wine tasting.

We stayed here for our 10th year wedding anniversary and it was a perfect combination of a serene environment while being a short 5 minute drive to Avignon’s city center. The grounds of the property will make you think you are in a French film and the rooms have a rare combination of historic/castle like vibes but with modern amenities (i.e. big shower, bathtub). We also had a balcony overlooking a courtyard that was picturesque. The parking lot on site also made it easy to go in and out of Avignon center with ease.

The hotel was a perfect base for our travels in Provence. 5 minutes from Avignon and parking is quite easy both in the city and at the hotel.

I would highly recommend booking a dinner at the 1 star restaurant during your stay.

One of the best hotel experiences in the world - the team couldn’t do more, the rooms are luxurious with real character and charm, excellent gastronomy, all without any pretentiousness. A unique place in the heart of Villeneuve-lès-Avignon and just a stones throw from Avignon itself. Having visited for the past 5 years each year, it’s also consistently excellent.

Sitting in the beautiful gardens listening to the birdsong you realise this is the only place to stay in Avignon and its area. Okay so it's a bit like an English country house, or a much loved and rubbed out teddy bear, but it's still gorgeous and so much preferable to those modern places in town

Absolutely love this place. Fantastic food, gardens full of herbs and relaxing to walk around the garden . Pool is clean and well serviced. There is no lift to there upper floors so if you are coming with heavy luggage’s be warned but the staff are very helpful to arrange all luggages upstairs.

Beautiful! We will definitely return. Was originally concerned about being outside of downtown Avignon but now couldn't imagine staying anywhere else.

The local town has many amenities and the walled City is easily accessible by a healthy walk or a 10 minute taxi.

Absolutely charming! The pictures are of our junior suite for reference.

Lovely hotel in the village of Avignon France. Friendly staff, large comfortable rooms. We even had two separate sink/shower areas. Made it easier to get ready. They have a pool, a restuarant and are within walking distance from everything in town.

Beautifully restored and updated 14th century priory. The grounds are immaculately maintained, the rooms spotless and the service second to none. We enjoyed dinner at the Michelin starred restaurant on site and the sommelier paired every course with the perfect wine. It is only a 35 minute walk to Avignon city center or a 10 minute cab ride.

You don't get a Michelin star easily. Thus much I can tell from the excellent restaurants I've visited that hadn't made it yet.

I know it's not part of the meal, but the star started as we walked into the Hotel. The grounds are majestic and you feel like you're heading into another world the minute you set foot on the grounds.

We made our way past the reception to the restaurant and were seated at a beautiful round table in a location that felt semi private.

We ordered the full degustation menu (La Dedicace - €110) and a bottle of Saint Joseph. We've taken the decision to forego wine pairings and spend the money on a great bottle of wine to go with our meal going forward.

The amuse bouches came out promptly, setting us in the mood for an excellent ride from the very beginning. Three little biscuits that were bursting with flavour. Even though I love foie gras, I'm glad that they got it over with over here. The others were a pea and mint affair and a tiny bit of San Daniele on a cheese pate.

Our first course was divine. Crab in a reduction of grapefruit and basil served with radish. It was delicate yet full of flavour. It was soft with crunchy bits that added a whole new layer of interesting.

Next we were served another intermediary dish - a light cold soup of what tasted like spinach with a strong taste of olive oil, served with an emulsion of Chevre cheese (my French is not good enough for rapid-fire delivery, so I guessed what was in the soup). Once again - divine, and a great way to pause after the original assault on the palate from the crab.

The first main, the fish, was special. I'm not big on fish, which is why I'm always impressed when a chef prepares it in a way that makes me wish I was. The skin was crisped to the right amount, and the fennel sauce and fish liver pate it was served with balanced it out beautifully. It was truly spectacular.

The lamb was the most predictable of all the dishes, but don't take that as a complaint. While the lamb was prepared to perfection, the addition of a cucumber sauce made for a very interesting and unique combination of flavours.

The dessert was subtle, a lovely tarte of wild brambles that served to close off the evening, well, night at that point, perfectly.

Which brings me to my only slight complaint about the experience. The service was incredibly slow. On the one hand this helped because the portions were larger than what you'd expect for a 7-course meal. On the other hand by the end of the night we were exhausted. We got there at 8.30 and were served our dessert more than 3 hours later. Maybe we should have planned it better, but we're usually used to spending a maximum of a couple of hours eating.

Still, all in all, highly recommended. Probably my favourite Michelin Starred meal in France to date.

This place is exquisite. The rooms are well-appointed, the service excellent and the grounds beautiful. There is a nice sized pool in the back and the huge advantage of this hotel is that there is plenty of parking.

Such a stunning hotel with such lovely staff! And both the dinner and lunch we had was delicious. We were here with both our young children and the staff were very accomadating. The large pool was perfect and there was no worries about having to keep the children quiet. We will come back for sure. Maybe without the children next time 😊
