Hillside Retreat, Prestatyn

Had a fantastic time staying at Hillside Retreat. Talk about wow factor, views are incredible especially from balcony. Beautifully furnished throughout and fully equipped.
Lovely open plan, kitchen, dining and lounge area which is perfect for entertaining.
Lovely hillside walks close by and the town centre is a short walk away. Beach was lovely and only a short drive away. Will definitely be looking to book again next year.

Had the best time in this gorgeous house! The views and the house are stunning! Hosts were so lovely and checked in making sure all was good, honestly the best holiday home we have stayed in yet! Definitely returning!

I was at the retreat for a short stay after being recommended by close friends.

I was blown away with the place. They described it as being a beautiful home with fantastic views but it really did exceed expectations.
From the moment we arrived, the host was welcoming and guided us through the property and gave us some recommendations on fantastic local walks in the area.

The property itself was just beautiful and immaculate. I was surprised at how much it also felt homely. If you take anything from this review, pop along to Deli On the Hill a local delicatessen in the area, get a fantastic wine and watch the beautiful sunset from the balcony.

Perfect getaway and location. The house is fully loaded with everything you need. It has an amazing view with everything you want near by as well as a beach! Rooms and beds are the perfect size with the beds giving an amazing comfort. Lighting is on point through out the property to create the right moods. Owners were also a lovely couple who gave us more comfort throughout our stay. Highly recommended for the perfect getaway.

Stunning views through the huge patio doors that fold completely open to enjoy the lovely sunsets over the North Wales coast.

You will not find anywhere better to stay than this beautiful house in the area and especially with such amazing hosts as Terri and Paul who will do anything to ensure your stay is as perfect as possible.

If you miss the opportunity to stay at the house for any reason, trust me you will regret it...

Fantastic House with amazing views. House was clean and comfortable and very welcoming. We went for New Year and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Great location, clean and comes with everything you need. Terri and Paul are very helpful and have it all down to a fine art when it comes to access and arrangements to use the house. Amazing isn’t enough!!

We absolutely love the house! The evening sun in the living space is stunning. Also the garden is so relaxing in the evening with the sun on the decked area. It's very relaxing and we feel like we have been here for an eternity we are so at home. We would highly recommend this holiday home.

Fantastic house in a really good location. Terri was an excellent host and provided lots of ideas for activities. We had a wonderful week and loved ending each day sat on the balcony enjoying the amazing views!

We just arrived home and I don’t usually bother writing reviews but felt compelled to write about Hillside Retreat. It’s located in Prestatyn, which is a bit of a sleepy town with not much going on. There’s a nice beach bar but with a fairly limited pizza and burger menu, but fab cocktails and an awesome view. There is a quaint Italian restaurant but fairly basic menu. A Chinese takeout and Domino’s. A few cute cafes. We actually bought from the supermarket (there seems a disproportionate number in Prestatyn) and I’m fact we had a Tesco delivery booked for the evening of our arrival, and cooked and ate in most evenings. And when you enter the house you’ll see why! You don’t stay here because it’s in Prestatyn, you stay here for the house itself and more specifically the views. We stayed with our two teenage daughters and our dog.

The house is located at the top of a steep hill and to access it there are steep stairs. This would not be suitable for anyone with difficulties walking up stairs. There is no off road parking but we never had a problem parking right outside the entrance to the steps. Make sure you have your weetabix when unloading the car! It’s a long way up with your luggage! The house is “upside down” so the front door opens into a hallway with a master bedroom on the right which has a his and hers dressing room and en-suite shower room. On the left is a second double room and at the back is a further twin room. There is a gorgeous family bathroom with separate shower and bath. The views from the front rooms are exceptional. You can lie in bed and see the sea. Upstairs (they are open tread so our dog took a couple of runs to become confident) it is completely open plan. There is a cosy area on one side that is carpeted with comfy sofas and a love seat that rotates so you can face the windows. There is a super large TV with every channel and you can plug in your laptop should you wish. The kitchen has got every mod con including a washer dryer so as a bonus we went home without any washing. We brought our own washing powder. There’s a breakfast bar and a table that seats 8. Also upstairs is a toilet and back door that takes you over a bridge into the garden which has a patio and outdoor seating. We didn’t spend much time in the garden as it was shady for most of the day. Also our dog managed to escape into next doors garden! But that’s his Houdini act that he does wherever we go! The crowning glory of the house is the balcony leading off the living space to the front with bifold doors so you have uninterrupted views and sunshine pouring through. Be warned you need sunglasses upstairs in the afternoon and evening! We spent a lot of time on the balcony drinking cocktails and watching the sunsets. The house is decorated to a really high standard with a lovely modern finish. Clearly a lot of love went into the design.

We are a pretty active family and most days went on mini expeditions… the highlights were climbing Mount Snowden and visiting Zip World. We also went to Llandudno, Great Orme, Bangor, Bewts y Coed and Red Wharfe Bay. These were all very dog friendly and within an hours drive of the house.

Our biggest issue was that we have a fully electric vehicle and the nearest charging point is in Rhyll, which is about 6 miles away but very slow (only 50 Kw)- so we had to pass the time for the 90 minutes it took to fully charge three times in a week. Fortunately there is a beautiful beach path which is excellent for running. We have suggested an electric charger at the house would be a good addition moving forward.

Finally a word about Terri and Paul. They were so lovely and welcoming and helpful when we ran into issues closing the balcony doors. They also left us cookies! We would definitely come back and genuinely recommend Hillside Retreat.

Hillside Retreat was just what we needed for some R&R when you stay somewhere so beautiful it makes staying in easy in the crazy Covid times! With a fully equipped sanitising station on entry to the house you feel safe the guidelines are being followed house is very clean and fully equipped with everything you could need! Every part of the house was luxury from comfy bed fluffy towels and lots of storage with no impact on space! Then there is the stunning panoramic view of prestatyn and beyond from the front of the house, it's absolutely breathtaking even on the wet days! There is lots to do with Snowdonia near by and my boys loved Zip World, so plenty to do within a short drive! Thank you for having us Prestatyn North Wales.. and Terri and Paul on all the exquisite accommodation and recommendations they really did go above and beyond to make us feel welcome! Lovely stay for a girls weekend!
More than enough space for 6 girls to enjoy themselves and it really felt like a home away from home.
The views over the town where beautiful and the town itself a had plenty of bars and restaurants to enjoy.
I highly recommend Chyna Garden, Jason (the Chinese Philip Schofield as he called himself) was hysterical!
Terri and Paul were on hand for anything we needed and even ensured the freezer was stacked with ice with a bottle of Prosecco and some cupcakes on arrival as we were celebrating a birthday, lovely touch.
Would love to go back in the warmer months and enjoy the summers sunrise and sunset!
