My partner and I had a wonderful stay at Alexander House. I had booked this as a surprise birthday treat for my partner.
The room was decorated so nicely with balloons and a little treat for my partner so it was a very nice touch. The room was exceptionally clean and larger than I had expected so loved the room. There wasn't a view out of the room (just looked into another building), but least we got plenty light coming in.
The Spa was very beautiful, well maintained and clean. Plenty towels provided in the changing rooms as well as soaps, shampoo, conditioner and body cream were provided so this was very handy.
I had initially booked for dinner for one night as the second night I was going to take my partner out, but due to the snow, we had dinner on both nights and we had a wonderful experience. The staff were exceptionally lovely and bubbly, and definitely made my partners birthday very special. The food was very nice too.
We ordered breakfast in bed on our first morning. Great service, but just a little side note on how much cooked breakfast to order. Can't get too many as it will be added as an extra charge. Something that wasn't stated on the card when filling out the form, but other than that, everything else was perfect.
Second breakfast, we went to the restaurant and received exceptional service from Lily.
On the whole, it was a really lovely, relaxing and chill experience. We loved our time there and hope to go again soon.

My Partner treated me to a ‘babymoom’ night away at Alexander House and I cannot recommend enough.
From the moment we arrived it felt like every member of staff we encountered went the extra mile to make our stay amazing.
Highlights being:
- Check in staff and a free upgrade to a suite.
- The pregnancy massage and the amount of access to the spa across the two days.
- The team in the champagne bar - had ran out of a certain ingredient of a mocktail I ordered, so I happily selected another (which was delicious) but they went ahead and sent an additional mocktail in case I wasn’t happy with what I received (which again was delicious!!!)
- Dinner - staff were very friendly, attentive and informative in regards to what I could and couldn’t eat in line with pregnancy guidelines.
- The afternoon tea! So tasty, relaxing and well worth the money.
It rained the entire time we were there so couldn’t explore the grounds more, but absolutely loved our time there and was exactly what we were after. Thank you everyone at Alexander House!

It is a 5 star hotel so would expect it to be good and it was. Only there one night and in December so didn't get chance to try out many facilities. I'm in a wheelchair and need a roll-in shower but lift was out of action so they quickly upgraded us to a very nice suite on the ground floor in the newer building. Very comfortable.
Also enjoyed very much the evening meal. Staff very friendly helpful.
Should the budget allow I would be very happy to return.

I have stayed overnight night several times and always had an amazing experience. The rooms are fabulous and everyone that works here is so friendly yet professional.
I also come here regularly to work for the morning or afternoon. I order a cafetière of coffee, cream, bottle of water, pop my headphones on and get to do writing for a few hours.
The surroundings are wonderful and I take a walk around the beautiful grounds about every hour, to relax and let my mind wander.

I can’t recommend it enough. I’m sure you will have a fabulous time.

Alexander House and Utopia Spa prove to be an absolutely splendid choice for a romantic getaway and birthday celebration. My partner thoughtfully arranged a full spa day package, complete with a delightful lunch or afternoon tea, a rejuvenating full-body massage, and a facial.

It's quite challenging to pinpoint my favorite aspect, but if pressed to choose, the outdoor Jacuzzi tub and the inviting swimming pool would take the cake. Despite the chilly weather outside, the warmth of the Jacuzzi tub struck the perfect balance, and I found myself fortunate to have the tranquil space to myself, relishing a peaceful moment amidst nature.

The afternoon tea selection further added to the charm of my experience. I had the flexibility to choose a convenient time right before my scheduled massage and facial, enhancing the overall relaxation.

Upon completing the spa indulgence, I checked into my room, and I must say, the room selection was spot on. The hotel staff exhibited commendable attentiveness and helpfulness, contributing to the overall enjoyment of my stay.

In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment. Alexander House and Utopia Spa effortlessly blend luxurious comfort, impeccable service, and serene surroundings, making it an ideal destination for those seeking a memorable and indulgent escape.

My husband and I had an overnight spa stay at Alexander house recently and stayed in the Huntingdon suite. We had a really lovely stay and I did not want to go home!

Pros
- Amazing full body massage by Jacqueline, she was so lovely and gave me a treatment which made me feel so relaxed.
- The food is brilliant, we had dinner and breakfast and both times exceeded expectations
- Clean and very spacious room - we had a living area room, main bedroom and a bathroom split into two rooms
- really comfortable bed
- The hotel staff were very attentive
- Great concierge service, helpful with our luggage, ran a bath for us and decorated the bed with rose petals and brought popcorn to our room in the evening after our dinner
- We went to the bar after our dinner which was a lovely space, great cocktails and very welcoming and friendly bartender.

Cons
- on check in to our room we found the safe was not working. We called reception and it took 30 mins to get fixed which was slightly annoying as we were keen to get into the spa.
- you are allocated your treatment times and they were not able to change these for us.
This is rather annoying considering the price we paid.
- I found the spa receptionist quite rude and unhelpful in comparison to other staff members
- The sauna and steam rooms are located inside the changing rooms meaning l couldn't sit in them with my husband. There is however a sauna located outside that we used together.

Alexander house is the perfect way to start your holiday as it’s so close to Gatwick airport or for a romantic getaway. The staff are always amazing and friendly, fine dining, and the cocktail menu is worth a visit alone. We love using the spa especially the outdoor jacuzzi and sauna, even in winter it’s amazing. The building is glorious too. I can’t tell you how much we love this place!

We did a spa day here, so I can't speak for the hotel rooms, but the spa was fantastic! We did the utopia massage and felt amazing afterwards. The facilities ate clean and well designed with lots of options and space. We opted for afternoon tea which was lovely and had a christmas theme. Brilliant experience.

Superb tea with great variety and excellent service. Husband lost a brownie point for not mentioning I'm a vegetarian so limited on my personal sandwich choice but 10/10 from their team. Highly recommended

We had a wonderful meal, the taster menu, and enjoyed every moment.
Our waiters were excellent and very knowledgeable about each course. My husband had the flight of wine with his meal and was delighted with the selection, trying wines he had never tried before. I had a mocktail which was very good. Thanks to the chefs for such a special meal!

Went for afternoon tea. Excellent service, also very good with dietary requirements. Great selection of savoury and cakes. Did not like the truffle egg mayonnaise mini roll as I don't like truffle taste but some do. Nice location too.

Lovely place, we didn't stay here but had a half day spa experience. The spa is lovely and seems to be well maintained, the staff are friendly. The upper body massage was amazing, and lunch was great! Would definitely come again.

Amazing place but let's put things into perspective . . . .

For 2 of us staying 1 night, a 55min treatment each and dinner in Reflections - £858.88 for 20 hours on site.

The not so good bits, booking for the treatments was put down incorrectly, nearly ended up with the wrong treatment. I apparently went from being male to a divorced lady according to the paperwork. The bubbles are a lot on the vicious side in the various hit tubs. 1st world problems I know!

However that's it. The good bits on the other hand are . . .
The food and service in Reflections for dinner was 2nd to none. The chap serving us was spot on, polite, friendly and just came across as a genuinely nice person. The 40day age Sirloin was cooked to exactly how I liked it. Experimented with some cocktails (£17:50 ea). The Pear Snowball pudding was something I've never tasted before in my life. All I can describe it as 'a party in my mouth'.

The room in Cedar Lodge was fantastic. Never got the hang of the lights, did have a mind if their own. The same button done different things each time you pressed it. Maybe the Lutron system or whatever is installed needs looking at. The bed - comfy. The TV - works. It does what it needs to do and the bath - well, lost my wife to that for an hour.

The staff in the hotel, everyone was smiling, friendly and felt genuinely like they wanted to make us happy with our stay. The buildings itself is grand, clean, crisp - just a brilliant looking building. Both subtle and expressive.

The Spa, the treatment (getting the right booking) was brilliant. Absolutely no issues in getting the correct treatment delivered. The staff again are friendly and welcoming. Towels, Ribes etc provided. Heated floor in changing room.

The men's seems more like a unisex though with the door wedged open into the pool area so anyone was coming in for a drink of water and use of the steam room and sauna. The outdoor hot tub could do with a bit of touching up where the surround is falling apart but the bubbles work, the water is hot and the footpath gritted (and melted) by 8am for the frosty morning that greatest the estate that day.

Would I stay again - for sure but maybe give it a few years and take a view on costs (like all things at the moment).

Excellent stay at the hotel & spa. The service was 5*, I was really impressed given this was my first time at this hotel & spa! My “mum to be massage” was so relaxing and the therapist was lovely. I will definitely be going back in future and recommending to friends & family. Charlotte at reception and a waiter at the restaurant really stood out they both went the extra mile. The grounds, rooms & spa facilities was clean and water temperature perfect. Keep up the good work :)

This property far exceeded our expectations. Everything was 5 star! From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. Every request we had was cheerfully filled. Every staff member we came into contact with went out of their way to make our day. The grounds were impeccable, and the walking trail to the lake was incredibly beautiful and serene. The Welly boots provided to to guests was such a nice touch. The food and drinks at the champagne bar and at the restaurant was delicious. Our bartender went out of her way to make us feel comfortable and gave us interesting information about the history of the property. The room was beautifully decorated and the beds and pillows were especially comfortable. We have a massage booked at the spa later this afternoon, and I have no doubt that the spa experience will be equally impressive as our hotel experience. We travel frequently, and have stayed at many hotels across the world, but the Alexander House has provided us with the most phenomenal experience ever. I have never been compelled to leave a review for any hotel, but This stay has Been so incredible that I am leaving this review during our stay! This stay was relaxing, and exactly what we needed. Thank you! We will most definitely be back!

We went for a spa day experience and it was a really great experience. The pools are clean and nice temperature. Towels are fresh. Facilities are clean. We had a full body massage and my masseuse did such a great job. She was attentive and made me feel relaxed. We also had a 3-course lunch as part of the spa experience and the food was delicious. This is definitely my favourite spa but it comes at a price. It's worth it though!
