Very nice food and HUGE servings too, the gammon was the best I've ever eaten and truly humungous. 10/10! Definitely will be going back. Overall, for 3 meals, drinks and a pudding it cost us £100.

We took my son to The Maybush for his birthday, and we could not have been more impressed. Everything was perfect! The food was excellent, and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly, with impeccable service. The Maybush is in such a beautiful location by the river, and it was lovely to be able to see the boats outside. The atmosphere in the restaurant reflected the delightful location. My son had spoken highly of the restaurant, as he and his girlfriend are regulars there. We will definitely be back, next time we visit my son. All in all, we had a very enjoyable time.

This inn is a magical find at a beautiful scenic spot. The food is lovely with lots of vegetarian and non vegetarian options. The food is tasty and served beautifully. The service is good. The food arrives quick, hot and tasty. The seating is available both inside and outside. The outside seating provides some really charming views of the surrounding area - the estuary, boats, farms, crabby shores, and peaceful long walks along the protected wildlife area. Toilets are clean, parking is good - remember to get a refund on yours when buying food. We missed! Dog friendly place!

Bustling beautiful large pub with a traditional heritage feel , yet fresh & modern , serving tasty hearty meals.

The location is the most fabulous draw nestled right on the waters edge with plenty of outside tables well positioned to make the most of the glorious view of the clear water & characterful bobbing boats moored up.

Our dogs were most welcome here although were not offered any drinking bowls or treats unusually especially as it was a warm day.

It was really very busy on the day we came so service was quite slow yet polite : a 25 minute wait from starters to main, then another 20 mins just to try & order deserts, by which time we were too full to eat one.

The sharing baked camenbert was by far the smallest I've been served in all honesty so don't share with too many !

Nice to have some different vegetarian choices with things like the veggie patty - style burger, really tasty.
Overall , a great atmosphere, just wonderful ambience, stunning decor inside & out, great service, good food , good drink ,& most definitely worth the trip here.
Advise booking as it really IS extremely popular.

Revisited in September 2023 :

Just as fabulous!
Great service , relatively quick food service especially as it was unseasonably warm therefore busy.

Four of us had a roast dinner, 2 of which were veggie with a mushroom Wellington which was absolutely delicious. I wish we could have had more !
High Rise Yorkshire puddings & very nice vegetables including roast potatoes of course.

We all had puddings ranging from Raspberry cheesecake to chocolate brownie, white chocolate tarte to Creme Bruleè - extremely tasty! Just the ticket!
You just can't go wrong coming here.

Lovely atmosphere, family feel with beautiful views. We love all the Deben Inn pubs/restaurants and this was no different. Kids thoroughly enjoyed their meals with great starters, mains and deserts. Specials looked fab as well.

My wife and I enjoyed a fantastic meal at The Maybush on our wedding anniversary. We were fortunate to get a table outside, and the food and service were faultless. The fish and chips was comfortably among the best I’ve had anywhere, and my wife absolutely loved the cold fish platter which she’d had on a previous visit. She may have been able to finish it if we hadn’t ordered the super cheesy nachos to start.

A lovely family meal, we had reserved a table. The waitress was friendly, knowledgeable and caring, without being overbearing. The food was delightful, we had cold fish platter, white bait and fries, and a ribeye steak. Very tasty food, cooked to perfection. A nice view of the boats and river. Fairly priced for the quality of food, service and environment. Will definitely return!

Great food, friendly staff, great views of the river, only down side you have to queue in a line to get served which you don't expect in a place like this 🤔.

Suggested by the people we were staying with as a good place to go, with nice views.

Slightly misleading as it was a fantastic place to go, with a brilliant view!!

The food was good and reasonably priced, the service quick and efficient. Plenty of staff, no long wait at the bar like some places now days.

For a first night dinner, top marks!!

Lovely food, I had the cold fish platter as a main, GF options available and vegan options.good service. Lots of seating inside and out, went on a Wednesday lunch time and was very busy. Clean toilets. Plenty of parking available, small cost but refunded on purchase of food/drink. Stunning scenery and a lovely walk alongside the river in front of pub. Highly recommend

Highly recommended, came here with my wife and 2 children aged 7 and 3 for an Easter holiday family meal out. Staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was warm and cosy. Dog friendly bar area and a fantastic beer garden overlooking the River (didn't use as it was a little nippy). Food was flawless making it worth paying that little extra from your average pub meal. Will be coming back soon.

Returned here again!!!! Just as I remembered it, fantastic service, great views and high quality food. Did have a slight issue with desert today but was rectified very quickly with zero fuss. Qudos to the waiting staff.

Super cosy place! Food was great. Really liked the Seafood Platter Salad, the mackerel and prawns were really tasty and flavourable! (I was a bit full so I didn't eat the bread). Had a coffee which complemented the dish. Great place, will come again!

One of my favourite waterfront pubs to visit in the south-east. Amazing food menu and a great selection of Chef Specials each week [be sure to check out the board before you order]. Family friendly, amazing and helpful staff. I have never had a bad experience in my many years of returning here. And if you can get here for Christmas Dinners, very much recommended. Im salivating just thinking about their food! Amazing outdoor seating along the waterfront and great atmosphere if dining indoors on a windy/wet day. Always happy with the bathroom cleanliness as well.

Lovely location on the banks of the River Deben. Food was fantastic and reasonably priced. Managed to get a table outside on the nicest day of the year so far (super lucky). Fish and chips 10/10. Pity I live so far away that I can't go there more often. Recommended 👍

We had a stop off here on our way to Norfolk. The car park was full but we used the public car park right next to it. We sat outside by the river with a lovely view of the countryside around us. We shared a salt and pepper squid and had a drink. Everything came quickly and the staff were friendly and attentive. Afterwards we had a walk along the river. We would definitely return but hopefully it will not be a Sunday in the school holidays.

10/10, would definitely recommend, there is a separate car park for customers. Absolutely stunning location and amazing restaurant. Very nice atmosphere and beaming with people outside especially if the weather is nice. couldn't fault the service and the staff. seeing as me and my friend travelled just over an hour to get here we weren't disappointed!
Food is delicious and is one of my favourite restaurants i have been to yet. extremely impressed good job guys.
