Being from the Forest of Dean when going back a trip to St Ants well is a must and it's still as magical when my friends and I found it one afternoon nearly 40 years ago as we explored our forest playground. Walk in or drive up its magical

It is a serene spot in the Forest of Dean, perfect for a quiet walk or picnic. The well itself is a beautiful sight, and the surrounding area is full of interesting wildlife. My weird little nephew loves racing his petrol-powered remote control boats around the well, and it is always a fun day out for the whole family.

The well is also a popular spot for swimming, but be warned that the water can be very cold! If you are feeling brave, you can even try your hand at wild swimming.

Beautiful area to explore and a lovely plunge pool/bath to take a dip in. Make sure you go early though before everyone arrives.

A very nice and quiet place. I do not recommend it for families with young children, large hills. Old forest, lots of tiny streams. Convenient parking space. Access road in bad condition, drive carefully

It’s a good hidden gem. Not as much as the Cinderford Rusty Pole however which I visited shortly after, that place is a must and only a couple minutes away from the well so well worth a visit after if you’ll pardon the pun.

Its a nice place. The well is situated in between woods. You can breath the fresh air and drink clean water out of well. Keep a bottle with you to get water from the well.

Beautiful and tranquil. Thank you to the folk who cleared it out. You can now see the bottom and the water is perfectly clear. Dipping in it is a dream. A lovely 11°C. Perfect

We regularly visit the well to collect the best spring water in the area. There is a small bathing place in the forest, it is so beautiful and magical, but the water is very fresh and it will definitely wake you up!

Great spot for a cold dip. Lovely clean water, 10° in the middle of a hot August day. Hilly woodland with some rope swings too

My favourite place for our barbecue when in was a teenager. We used the well to chill our flagons of cider.
The Spring has the best tasting water you will ever taste.
