The Yard Kitchen

This is one of the loveliest places I ever been to. Packed with good books, I found some classics, even Russian, my daughter bought art books, the food is excellent, the best value for money you can get. I will surely go back when in Penrith. And the people- super. I have no pictures of the place, except my meal.

A lovely surprise, and often popular by those who know, an up-cycled decor that is warm, welcoming and will give you lots to look at and talk about. The staff are friendly and seem genuinely happy to be there, they have a large daily board to keep things changing, and the usual combinations put to you in food and drinks makes it an adventure to visit time and again.

If you’re visiting the Lake District do not miss the opportunity to drop by here! Dog friendly so you can bring your four legged family members too! Large seating areas, a vast amount of it is sheltered, protected from the elements. Lots of parking less than a minute walk. Staff are attentive, friendly and “nothing too much” take on things. Impressive knowledge base on the menu and dietary options. Excellent meal/drinks every time, we go regularly throughout the year and consistency is one of their strongest points for both quality and taste. Love to support local businesses but this place triumphs as one of our favourites because the food is amazing. Cakes/treats are a must have. OMG THE PANCAKES WERE AMAZING!

What a delightful place for a lunch/coffee break. Located on Brunswick Rd alongside Morrisons Food Market. On arrival we were made very welcome by friendly helpful staff. The interior is rustic-industrial with a good range of comfortable seating in three different rooms upstairs. Including sofas and chairs in front of a log fire, very relaxing. There is also a tidy alfresco area. The cakes are fresh and quite mouth watering made on site, the coffee is from a local boutique supplier. We were very impressed and will visit again.

Had a delicious chai latte and brownie. Cosy atmosphere and friendly staff. Lots of choice of drinks and cake. Would definitely recommend!

Sooooooo tasty! Honestly I can't get enough of this place. The team there are super friendly, the food is great. They're are always vegan options. This is the best food and coffee in the area. They do what they do really well. Interior is really well thought out too.

Nipped in for a coffee, left after pizza & sweet treats! Friendly staff who were great with our nervous dog, will definitely return.

I love this place. Great coffee and cakes. Good lunches too. If it's sunny, it's gorgeous to sit outside, but inside is nice too. Definitely recommend it.

Lovely place for food or just a coffee. Cosy and quirky, great service. We absolutely ❤ It. Went for a little look around the bric à brac next door, well worth a visit and bought some French wine at the black hand wine stall. We will come back for the second hand / antiques furniture next time, and for more cake and French wine!!!!

Quirky, cute cafe, with a variety of meals with vegan, veggie and gluten free options also. The scones and cakes are just delicious. Knowing all their food is ethically sourced is an added bonus

Are you vegan? Gluten Free? Diary Free? Or just fed up with motorway junk food. Well, this is the perfect alternative cafe. A place where you can relax, eat delicious cake, drink a strong coffee and chat to some locals before heading back on the M6!

Iced tea really hit the spot on a hot sunny day and the fruit cake was scrumptious.

They do a lovely bit of cake and a memorable earl grey tea. An asset to Penrith. Glad we asked a local for a good cafe.

Very good food friendly service nice place to go

The little cafe was lovely with a warm friendly atmosphere. The food arrived quickly even though it was a busy lunch time and it did not disappoint!

Very nice meal here, relaxed atmosphere and quirky design. Fits in perfectly with the rest of the yards activities....love this place.
