It was nice shop wit friendly service

Friendly. Lots of food. Prices on items not the same as what you are charged. Thankfully for me it balanced out. Calpol was cheaper than sign on shelf. Apples cheaper than sign. Bread more expensive. Ask for a receipt if you want to know what you paid.
Don't take a buggy in - narrow aisles.

Good range of booze and groceries, friendly staff.

I can't really rate the store as the queue to get in was about an hour, but at least that shows they've maintaining a sensible number of people in the store, so for that, and the fact that it's going to be much the same as most Spar shoos I've given 3 stars.

Yesterday been in Hay as a tourist (nothing new for locals I guess ;) ). Just before my last return bus decide to buy some staff for drink and went to this shop.
I took 2 cans of jackie-cola, 2 soft drinks and chocolate and went to till to pay for.
Lady (with glasses on) scan all the products and told me I have to pay something around £10, quickly throwing my receipt to the bin. I thought it is a way to much and ask her to give me back my receipt.
Checked it just after I left shop but I was hurry up to catch the bus. Otherwise will get back there and I will expect explanations... Coz I don't buy The Sun at all, even once in my entire life .

That was SECOND NOT nice experience during my one day trip to fabolous Hay (first situation in Tourist Information office).
I know that I'm just tourist, and foreigner but c'mon! Such a things ruin opinion of some really fantastic places.

Overpriced and we were overcharged at the till and not for the first time!
Bought a few items, knowing they were all under £2 each, noticed one of them scan in way higher. Asked the guy at the checkout, who checked the offer and told us that it had expired and the price on the shelf was wrong. He would 'honour it this time'. He then screwed up and threw the receipt away without even asking if we wanted it (I wanted to check the prices of everything at this point!)
This was almost identical to the last time we were in Hay-on-Wye and came here.

Just bought dishwasher tablets box of 30 only contained 29
Box looked unopened so must be a scam by Spar as was a Spa brand

Sold me mouldy food and then the lady behind the till was incredibly rude about it and accused me of eating ‘half of it already’ which was 100% untrue! At least the manager seemed to have some people skills…

Grumpy hag on the tills. Cramped shop with nowhere to move. 2 for £2.50 drinks can't mix and match brands which isn't clear
