The Withies Inn

We had my father’s wake at this lovely old pub. Hugh could not have been more helpful when planning the wake. We arrived early as the weather was extremely cold and the staff were superb. There was a booked gluten free platter for a guest which was so thoughtfully laid out and the food for the wake was excellent. I’m not sure anything was left! Thank you to all the staff for being so brilliant to all of our guests. Everyone was very impressed with the staff and the food and we will be def coming back again. Many many thanks.

Dinner was excellent with more options than the usual boring offers. Had delicious Veal Escalope followed by treacle tart. Both great. Service also very good. What more can I say?

LOVE the Withies! My family has been coming here since 1987, and every time we come the food does not disappoint. One thing to note is that they are incredible when it comes to food allergies or diet requirements. I personally have a dairy allergy and they have always been very good at making sure everything is to my liking. Additionally the service is top notch, the owner is always smily and up for a chat and the servers and always attentive. Finally the food is outstanding! My favorite is the garlic prawns which are given with a side of freshly baked bread which melts in the mouth and WOW. Overall FIVE STARS

Thank you Hugh and Team for everything you done on Saturday for dads surprise 60th lunch. Your customer service was exceptional. The food was delicious. The table looked incredible outside decorated, thank you all for making it so special. The hotel rooms were amazing. Thank you all very much.

Loved our room here. My only complaint about the room is that ours was right next to a storage room so people going in and out of it was constant during restaurant hours. It was only an issue because we were jet lagged and sleeping at odd times. But the room was comfortable and well equipped despite that. The food, service, and atmosphere was excellent! I recommend the mushroom stroganoff and brownie.

Staff are extremely hospitable and the pub itself is a beautiful 16th century Inn. Food is delicious with a good selection of Ales. Wonderful place with a real wood fire go on treat yourself.

Just had lunch here with friends and the food is outstanding!!! Anyone complaining about the price sadly need to stick to the harvester chains.
We spent 3 hours here and all had 3 courses with 2 drinks each for under £180 including the service charge. Service was professional, friendly and the perfect level of attentiveness. Looking forward to coming back again soon.

Stopped for lunch. It is a welcoming, lovely old pub/ restaurant. Fires made it look inviting. I had the baked potato with cheese and ham which was delicious especially as the cheese was melted. My partner had the salt beef sandwich, that he thoroughly enjoyed, saying the beef was lovely and tender.
Highly recommend if you are in the area.

What a great pub! We stopped here for lunch in the middle of a hike. The pub was very accommodating despite us being a larger group (of wet and muddy hikers), and the food and service were both great. It was a charming countryside pub with low ceilings and a warm, cozy fireplace. I’d love to return if I find myself in Compton again.

Dover sole for lunch what more could you want . As always at Withies excellent service and good food in a charming atmosphere .

Absolutely outstanding, cannot say enough how wonderful our stay was. Was taken by my mum and sister, as they have stayed before, and they had loved it. Honestly was bowled over, the staff could not do enough to help you, so very very friendly and made you so welcome, the accommodation was immaculate and so comfy and had everything you needed and was in a beautiful setting. The food was out of this world, we had dinner there and I had the steak and it melted in your mouth. Also the breakfast was delicious I had the salmon and scrambled eggs and it was the best I had ever eaten. In a nutshell would HIGHLY recommend here for a visit, I can’t wait to go back. Well deserved 5 stars. 🥰😊

Met a friend for lunch so can't comment on the rooms, but the location, service & food were all excellent.

Stopped off here for Sunday lunch on an extended 20km walk. Good food. Willing service. Pleasant atmosphere.
