The Charterhouse Pub

We have tried almost ever pub/restaurant in the area now. The Charterhouse is 100% the best choice for steak! Every time it has been perfect. 👌
The landlord is a legend, the chef is very good and always a friendly welcome/atmosphere (the pub dog is also very funny!).

All in all a very pleasant experience, although some items were missing from the menu due to supply shortages our server confidently told us of missing items and substitutes.

The pub dog Archie has his own bowtie and is very soft and fluffy, tends to curl up on the sofa unless called over for pets.

We had lamb with tender-stem broccoli with dauphinoise potato’s which was honestly Devine. Well cooked tender and flavourful and the potatoes were fluffy and well balanced in flavour.

Mac and cheese was great but could do with a little bit of crunch on top.

For pudding we had sticky toffee pudding and honeycomb and salted caramel ice cream. Which by the way goes really well with sticky toffee.

This is a lovely local pub just on the outskirts of Godalming town centre. Lovely staff and selection of beers and ales. Food is great as well, especially steak night.

I’ve been wanting to sample the steaks here for a while so we took an anniversary as a good excuse to walk down. Never been before as I was put off years ago by the previous bikers element (not the case anymore) We arrived 30 minutes late, oops!. Ribeye was amazing! Lamb was amazing! Very very well cooked. I look forward to returning as I’ve been looking for a good Godalming steak place for years!

A fantastic new addition to the area, great staff, fabulous food and good beer.

From the moment we walked in we were welcomed not only by the staff, but the pub itself is inviting, light and well set out, it felt large and cosy at the same time.

The menu wasn’t massive which is sometimes a positive, and this was definitely one of those occasions, because the items they did have on the menu were done really well.

(I must caveat the photos are taken after a few pieces of squid and wings were taken, so the portion sizes look smaller than they were)

We had the Korean bbq wings and the Squid to the start. The wings had a good kick to them and the squid came with a lovely chilli jam.

For mains 3 of us had Meat burgers and 1 of us had the Veggie burger, none of us were dissatisfied or disappointed. The meat was good well, and the burger was juicy with a nice portion of crispy chips. All in all it was a great pub meal and not to pricey either.

The beer selection was good something for everyone, I had my go to Neck oil.

We were all really impressed and will definitely be back again soon.

This is the first time we’ve been here over the years we’ve lived in the area. I think since we have lived here it’s changed hands 3 times, the last owners made it a bikers pub, we always wanted to go in, but the sign saying bikers only did put us off a little. They soon took that sign down and opened it to the public.

Went with some friends on a Friday evening. Never been inside before but driven past many times. Turned out the food was top-notch. All of us thought everything was really well cooked and presented. Service was great too - really friendly staff. I will definitely return.

Met up with family and enjoyed a fantastic meal in relaxed pub atmosphere. Food all very good- enjoyed a mixture of starters and mains. Really attentive manager who made us all feel welcome- lovely pub dog too! Thank you and very happy to recommend. We will be visiting again!

Great pub with really nice food. We stumbled upon their Christmas quiz and it was a lot of fun. The service was fantastic and especially Jaime who was very attentive and welcoming.

Superb Sunday roast dinner. Great atmosphere and Lovely food and drinks. Best roast I have had in a long time. We will be back.

I went to the reopening of this pub tonight and can’t praise the new owner Charlie enough for his take over! It was a brilliant night busy and it had a great vibe. Live music and really friendly hospitable bar staff! Also it’s a dog friendly pub/bar. It’s defiantly one to try and it’s an independent so has a community feel about it - 5⭐

Just finished enjoying one of the best Sunday roasts I've ever had, pork belly was perfect and all the trimmings on point. Great service with a very friendly atmosphere. Will be coming back soon.

Best Pub in Surrey. Food is absolutely delightful. Hmmm yum scrummy! The entertainment they offer every weekend is out of this world for real. I would highly recommend to any friend, family or acquaintance.

Went to the pub for a family Sunday roast. It was seriously good, and really fantastic value, especially the kids food (£8 roast, £5 Mac&Cheese). There is a lovey pub dog with a little bow tie. Everything you want from a family friendly village pub.
