Lovely place. We loved it. It's so cozy and antique. Inside its beautiful vintage, with fireplace, the girls working there are super friendly and the area is great. Definitely be back, we were very pleased with the place, especially on a cold day. We had a cup of tea, some snacks and a nice time.

Fantastic historic pub / building, in a lovely spot!
Visited many, many years ago and then just forgot about it until recently prompted by a newspaper article (so 'we' decided to call in for a drink).
Lovely, early spring Saturday afternoon pint outside in the sunshine. Will definitely be making it a more regular occurrence, and will probably try the food at some point too 😎👍

A beautiful venue to have an intimate gathering of friends & family, celebrating love of our beautiful mates. Cannot say anything better about service of the staff and the owner, they were lovely and so kind. Drinks were also delicious!

Brilliant little pub has plenty on for adults and children. Biker night on a Wednesday and classic car night on a Monday. Both of wich always turn out a decent crowd.

A great pub, beautiful, unique building with a tiny old school, meaning REALLY old school dinky little bar. Consistently lovely staff, loads of outdoor seating, or, if you want to pretend you're in The Green Dragon in Hobbiton you can drink indoors, enjoying a real fire in the wintertime. There's an outdoor bar and often barbecued food in Summer, fancy pants posh car night on Mondays or better still around two zillion motorbikes on a good Wednesday evening.

What's not to like?

Wow! What a pub. Lovely (very) old stone floored pub with a good choice of well kept ales and a varied selection of cheeses served with platefuls of biscuits and chutneys. Fabulous gem and well worth a visit.

Lovely old pub. Does 3 ales. Shropshire gold was really nice. They're open from 9 and do breakfasts. There is live music on Friday and Saturdays. Allow van stop overs for a tenner. Great place. Recommended 🍻

Crowded historical pub. I'd like to go at a quiet time to have a better look. It was here in 1320 supposedly serving ale then. Six years after Edward II's defeat at Banockburn, did they use the name Scotch Piper at that time?

This is one of my favourite pubs in the world. To go inside and have a drink is close to stepping back in a time machine and entering the 14th century (I believe when the inn was built). Its retained its authenticity and originality and this can be seen in its architectural style, heavy wooden beams, thatched roof and low ceilings/doorways. If the walls could talk they would have near 6-700 years of history and tales. I love having an ale in here and sitting amidst the still and timeless atmosphere. If youre with a small group you'll notice how quiet it is inside. Decor and seating suits the style and is cosy, reminding me of pubs of old. They have a small selection of beer and ale which is enough for me. I didn't try the food although they offered that too. On a Wednesday night there is a biker social gathering meaning its a bit busier but still welcoming and not too long a wait to be served. The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. I'd recommend this place to anyone interested in history even if just to have a look around.

Friendly staff and good spot for quiet grass pitch camping, would recommend for small campers. No disturbance from the indoor entertainment. Views over field and ruined church next door.

Me and my wife recently had our wedding vow renewal at the Piper, and it was absolutely incredible.

Mike and Caroline bent over backwards to accommodate us and make our day as special as possible. We cannot thank them enough.

Me and my wife live in New Zealand, but I grew up just near the pub so it's a very special place for me. We felt honoured to have our special day there. It's the most unique, historic, friendly, atmospheric and special little pub you could hope to visit.
