What a gem! We spent a couple of hours here, starting with delicious crossants in the cafe. Then we explored the garden, which is a delight, with a view over the river, and lots of places to sit - loved the watercress growing in the rill. Finally we met some volunteers and had a very informative guided tour of the mill which was in operation. Definitely worth a visit.

One of the millers, Mike, treated us to an outstanding explanation from a real enthusiast of the mill's background and restoration, alongside a demonstration of the milling process. I can't recommend this experience enough, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and learnt something at the same time! You'll find free parking less than 5 minutes walk away, and we can also recommend the cafe. As you might expect flour is available for purchase, alongside baking recipes and kits.

Stopped here for lunch. Lovely cosy atmosphere. We had soup, which was served with half a sandwich as a side, (a nice change from just some bread). Great flavours. Well worth stopping in for a light lunch.

Fantastic place to visit: great tour with lots of information and drawing on experience and local knowledge. Ideal for a rainy day as there is not a lot to do in the area when the weather turns bad. Cafe good too. Some good local walks. Make sure you time it right for a guided tour as this makes the entrance fee well worthwhile.

I attened one of the bread baking courses run by the Mill. Due to various circumstances there were only two of us on the course but it meant we had an excellent time making lots of bread with plenty of space. Whilst the bread was proofing we were served an excellent lunch and good coffee. I can recommend the bread courses or just go for lunch.

Lovely destination. A working mill in the heart of the black mountains complete with a terrific cafe and superb bakery. I am now visiting regularly whether to grab coffee or buy bread. A hidden gem.

We visited the Mill and Cafe on a cold winters day. Well worth the visit indeed the 160 mile round trip. But best of all was the wholemeal bread. My wife makes her own wholemeal bread by hand and up to now she has had no competition. Fabulous taste perfectly cooked, slightly moist with a rich flavour. If the bread was not enough we went on to try the Walnut and ginger cake. We are foodies and pride ourselves on knowing what is good. I have to say this was the nicest piece of cake I can remember, rich is flavour with a perfect balance between the fresh ginger the light fluffy icing and a light but somehow rich sponge. 24 hours later that exquisite taste was still with me. The baker at the mill is to die for she deserves national recognition. Wherever you may live just go there see the mill and then have lunch with red cabbage coleslaw fresh salad with light dressing, two slices of wholemeal bread accompanied by salmon or mackerel followed by the best piece of cake on the planet. And if that is not enough the young lady who makes the coffee really knows how to make it. It is wonderful to go somewhere which is very simple and the folk who look after you get it all just right.

Loved an informative tour of the mill with a gentleman volunteer. Paid 12 quid for our family of four. Finished with a snack break at the cafe. Highly recommend a stop to see this ancient mill

Spent an enjoyable morning here, learning about the history and processes of the mill. Knowledgeable volunteers. They were incredibly friendly. Bought some bread mix from craft shop and look forward to tasting finished bread. Cafe was lovely with home made cakes and sandwiches.

This is a working water powered flour mill run by volunteers. Our guide took us through the flour grinding process & the restoration of the mill. The tour included a walk around the garden with information about the rivers, and a sample of the wheat they use. You can self guide but I would recommend the guide, the tour is very interesting.

We tagged along with Rob (who helped restore the mill) as he diverted river water via the sluice to the mill and gave us detailed explanations of the process. Heartily recommended to visit. The spelt bread is very tasty and the shop a treat too! Thankyou all.

A great local mill and bakery in the centre of Talgarth. The bread is always fresh and delicious, as well as the cakes and scones available. Coffee and teas can be bought for takeaways, and flour/coffee/condiments are displayed.

The staff are kind and talkative, and safety measure for Covid-19 are up to standard. Recommended.

Delicious sourdough, cakes and coffees- the best around by far in my opinion, in a really beautiful uniwue stream-side setting. Nicola runs a great team that provide excellent customer service- I have tried a variety of her lockdown curries- the curries, naan and deserts are all to die for!! My particular favourite is the aubergine massaman curry and lemon posset with shortbread for dessert. Sad to be moving away from the area- I'll miss the delicious weekly curry!! Thanks again all at talgarth mill- keep up the excellent and delicious work!
