WOW, what a great country pub. Had a meal at the Pig & Whistle (Cartmel) last week and it was fantastic, very tasty and well presented. Staff very attentive and could not do enough for you which made are visit one to remember. Bar full of locals which tells you the new owners Dean & Stephanie and their staff are running a welcoming friendly pub. Lovely beer garden at the rear so you can sit in the sun and admire the fantastic views overlooking Cartmel and the surrounding country side. Booked in again this weekend and can't wait. A must visit if you are in the Lake District or live locally. Guinness very nice (£5.80) and the wife had a fantastic cocktail.

Lovely little quaint pub with plenty of seating and great food. My husband and I had the super food salad and the fish goujon flat bread. Both were delicious. Staff very attentive and super friendly. We will definitely be back

Been going for years and the food has been really good. However it’s recently been taken over and the food was simply the best!!. I had gluten-free fish and chips and it’s the best I’ve ever tasted and all my friends enjoyed the reef and beef. I highly recommend!! Will definelty be back xx

Just got home from dinner here, and wow! Restaurant was clean, warm and a nice surrounding. Food was absolutely top notch, is very obvious the chef seriously knows his stuff when it comes to food and flavor profiles etc. Beautifully presented, freshly cooked and piping hot, and the food was bang on. Had the pulled pork burger and was blown away, dessert was the biscoff bread and butter pudding which was one of the best desserts I’ve ever tried. Owner was friendly and courteous, and the staff were efficient and better still, all smiling. Do I recommend the Pig and Whistle? Best food in the area, hands down.

We stopped in after we'd been out for a meal in Cartmel and were so pleased we did!

First thing to say is that the pub is under new management and so I'd pay more attention to reviews in the last few weeks than any before their time. We met Dean, who has recently taken over the pub and lives there with his young family. Seems a really nice guy and hope it all works out for them - based on our experience I'm sure it will.

Nice atmosphere, decor etc. and good selection of food and drinks. If we'd been staying in Cartmel longer then we'd have come back for lunch but unfortunately we were leaving the next day.

Went to the excellent Pig and Whistle a couple of weeks ago and have been meaning to leave a review ever since.
Great atmosphere for food or drinks and both. The service was excellent and the food even better!
From the yorkie dippers to surf and turf it was brilliant…need to come back to Cartmel asap and this will be our first stop!

We were so pleased that we chose this excellent village pub for our Sunday lunch. Not long taken over by a young couple, the Pig & Whistle is doing really good things. It's a traditional pub, owned by Robinsons Brewery, serving really tasty home cooked food and serving well-kept real ales.

On a Sunday they offer an excellent "Sunday Sharer":

- The ultimate Sunday sharer. Yorkshire puddings filled with bacon topped cheese sauce and beer onion gravy to dunk your sirloin steak, meat of the day, Cumberland sausage pig in blanket wheel, cauliflower cheese, stuffing and parmesan topped roasties and veggies in.

This is nicely presented in a roasting tray. It was all excellent and the sirloin was served beautifully pink. All very tasty and a generous portion. The service was excellent.

It's a shame we don't live closer. Good luck with pub, guys and thank you for a great Sunday lunch.

What a great place to eat in Cartmel, we had the the Sunday Roast chicken dinner and it was one of the best we have had , and for dessert the April Spritz trifle , the staff were all really friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble for them , will definitely be visiting again and highly recommend if you’re in Cartmel call in for food and a drink , the outside area is fantastic with plenty of extra seating .

What a little gem of a pub! Had a great pint followed by a delicious charcuterie board(only available Mondays and Tuesdays). Under new management, well done Dean! Thank you Kaitlin, Hannah and Luke for excellent service. Keep up the good work, see you soon.

Went for food with my family and was delighted with both the service from Luke and his colleagues and the quality, portions and price of his food. We will definitely return next time we’re in the area!

Quaint pub in gorgeous Cartmel. Proper cosy, country pub feel. Bar staff were lovely and welcoming, and so were the locals! Only had a drink here but the food sounded pretty good and did look it too! Will have to go back and try it. Definitely worth popping in for!

We just went for dinner, didn't stay. The food was lovely. Bit short of vegetarian options but accommodating with requests. Service was good. We went for a drink in the bar after, but it was empty, which seemed strange for a Saturday night but it was pleasant enough.

Loved this place, walked over from Grange which took us about an hour and the sun had decided to come out which was welcomed. A real local rural pub in a lovely setting on the outskirts of the village, very well staffed and very welcoming with a good atmosphere. Well stocked local ales which I had the Cumbria Way and It went down a treat, food 🍲 is on offer and we tried from the nibbles board on the bar chilli 🌶 beef 🥩 nachos which was a meal in its self and was delicious 😋. A hostlery that is not to be missed.

Called in for a drink here on the off chance due to breaking down nearby- the staff couldn't do enough to help! Very very friendly and helpful- I had to leave a review!
Felt very relaxed and comfortable whilst having a pop waiting for the rac man 😆😅

Round the corner from lovely little village famous for sticky toffee pud!
