The Journalist Coffee

Really fantastic little cafe that serves some excellent coffee and has some amazing looking bakes.

The cafe is very small. Not many seats inside but it feels intimate. The coffee is really the standout. Excellent cup and great flavour. Probably one of the nicest cafes in the town!

Great little stop, very close to Surrey Orthodontists which makes it handy for a quick tea or coffee if you’re early for an appointment. Always friendly, quiet. Not an overwhelming environment for those with ASC/SPD.

The best coffee in Godalming :) We stopped here twice, because once wasn’t enough, and got the pumpkin spiced latte both times. While we didn’t get any cakes, it looked incredibly tempting. There is also chess and board games available, which is great for a rainy day. The interior is very welcoming and cosy and it is dog-friendly, with dog biscuits and water.

"The Journalist" is a great addition to Godalming High Street, next to Godalming Museum, opposite the iconic Pepperpot. It has a great view of the town, especially the church street. It is owned by Merve who offers great coffee, tasty cakes and also savoury plates. Everything was great and Turkish coffee was a real delight! (Lovely gentle music. Dog friendly. Toilet available at the back.)

Postscript: Marve's mum's savory pancake with lamb and potato was cooked as ordered, and it was delicious. Marve's matcha latte was sublime and authentic, close to what you can get in Tokyo. November 27, 2023.

Without doubt the best coffee in Surrey. Merve has created a fantastic atmosphere to sit and watch the world go by, very chilled, great food, great coffee, great music and a friendly host. If you are looking for a relaxing oasis in Godalming, this is the place. Great croissants too !! : )

We enjoyed our morning coffee whilst visiting Godalming at this lovely & friendly coffee shop, which also had a water bowl for our dog!

Coffee was really good for two fussy coffee lovers! Highly recommend if you are in the area.

Went in for lunch. Being coeliac I have to be strictly gluten free and was delighted that I could have something with gluten free bread, I had a very nice avocado on gluten free toast topped with crumbled Feta and sprinkled with some seeds. Excellent coffee.
Splendid all round, will definitely go again.

Just a little gem. I had already been told by a friend how good this little coffee shop is but it exceeded my expectations in every way. Wonderful coffee and delicious food. The service and attention to detail outstanding. Wonderful place to go and relax and wonderful staff.

The owner is lovely and I like the variety of food available. The owner is Turkish so offers some Turkish dishes and treats which are lovely.
