Orford Quay Car Park

8 hours for £4 isn’t too bad. Park here for the quayside and for boat trips or to visit national trust Orford Ness. It’s a large car park so you shouldn’t have trouble finding a space here. Look out for the yummy blackberries around the edge.

The weekends can get very busy, it the car park still had some room available. You can park for most of the day for £4 and its only a short walk to the Quay side. They have toilets on site, and also likely an ice cream seller if the weather is good.

The car park is well placed for access to the local shops, and vista to Orford Ness.

Excellent car park with great views!

Orford Quay Car Park turned out to be an unexpected yet essential part of our recent adventure to Orford Ness. Our visit, which happened on an exceptionally rainy day in August, put this unassuming car park to the test. I must say, it held up quite well!

The first thing that caught our attention was the convenience of the location. Situated right by the quay, it provided easy access to the Orford Ness ferry terminal, which was a blessing on such a wet day. We were dreading the walk to the terminal in the pouring rain, but the short distance from the car park to the ferry point saved us from getting completely soaked.

The star of the show, surprisingly, turned out to be the toilets. As trivial as it may seem, having clean and well-maintained facilities is crucial, especially on a day when outdoor conditions are less than desirable. The toilets at Orford Quay Car Park were a welcome relief, offering a dry and clean sanctuary amidst the downpour. Kudos to the management for keeping them in good shape!

Speaking of the rain, I can't emphasize enough just how wet it was on the day of our visit. It felt like the heavens had opened up and were determined to drench everything in sight. Despite the unfavorable weather, the car park's surface seemed to handle the deluge quite effectively. There were no noticeable flooding issues, and the gravel surface offered enough traction for vehicles and pedestrians alike.

One of our biggest concerns when traveling to new places is the safety of our belongings, especially our vehicle. Thankfully, the car park lived up to our expectations in this regard. The presence of security measures and the fact that our car didn't vanish amidst the pouring rain were definitely comforting aspects of our visit.

While I can't speak much about the views or aesthetics of the car park itself due to the heavy rain and limited visibility, it served its purpose well as a reliable and functional stopover on our way to Orford Ness.

In summary, Orford Quay Car Park proved itself to be a practical and well-maintained option for visitors, especially on a rainy day like the one we experienced. It is a quaint East Anglian coastal village in a lovely setting. Quintessentially English.

Nice place have a rest, been to the castle,had a look around needed the loo, so we walked just down the road to the quay. Very tidy , looks quite new. When you're ready look to the left (sea to the front) there is a nice tea room. Not too dear, clean and welcoming on a chilly day.

Nice one level open car park. Pay & display. Public loos. Near water front, with cafe & shop where you can buy locally smoked fish.

Convenient place to leave your car when taking the ferry to Orford Ness. Earlier reviews suggest that the machines don't accept cards or phone payments but they did when we visited.

Lovely place to drink your coffee and have your pastry from the Pump House Bakery.
