Modern decor, nice flair. Staff friendly and helpful. Nice and close to Bishop Auckland golf course so perfect place to stop. Breakfast delicious and due to being a Sunday night that we stopped, dinner was roast dinner which was good. Would stay again 👍🏻

On a noisy road but plenty of quiet rooms at the back and around the courtyard. I understand from the manager that bedrooms roadside have special glazing to cut down noise. Part of the Auckland Project, and very worthwhile to buy a ticket at reception to see all the local attractions, at a discount too. Staff are fabulous, our room (11) was particularly spacious and quiet, and there's plenty of parking. Cooked breakfast was fine, if a little lukewarm, and dinner was good.

Stayed at the Park Head Hotel (room 24) for 11 nights while training in a new job.

Hotel: Really lovely location and grounds with plenty of parking and outdoor space to enjoy drinks etc.

Room: really lovely decor and ambience, bed was really comfy and plenty of pillows. Shower was excellent with a standard shower head and a rainfall head. Only I issue I noticed was that when I returned to my room some days, the housekeeping staff had left lights on in the room for no reason.

Staff: The staff were excellent and really attentive. As I was there for several days, the Restaurant Supervisor, Sasha, and the other restaurant staff got to know what I liked from the bar and were really friendly. The Duty Manager, Andrew, was really professional; I had a query on my bill and he resolved it without any issue. I booked the room before going on holiday and the manager allowed me to leave my car in their car park while I had my holiday and then came back to it a few days later.

Food: The dinner menu was fairly extensive with plenty to choose from and reasonably priced. The portions were really generous and really tasty. The breakfast was also really good with plenty of choice from continental pastries, cereal toast etc or hot options (or both).

Cons: The mobile signal in the area is somewhat patchy; I am with EE but can't comment about other networks. The WiFi was free but also wasn't particularly quick and sometimes froze; a good thing if you want to get a break from digital world.
The road alongside the hotel can get very busy so can be a bit tricky pulling out of the hotel to join the main road.

Staff are 1st class very attentive and polite. Sacha was fantastic behind the bar and serving in the restaurant. From start to finish all the staff made it a welcoming stay. The room was clean, fresh, and well furnished. The bed is very comfortable. The only drawback was the road noise.

We spent one night here on Sunday Stopover deal. I thought the room was excellent, the food ok and the service excellent. What was amazing was the value for money. Highly recommend...

We were in a lovely room in the courtyard, peaceful with no noise whatsoever. The room is very modern and had everything we could possibly need.
The shower was amazing!
Vegan breakfast was delicious.

Just come back from 2 nights stay at Park Head Hotel. My husband is in a wheelchair and room was perfect for access with huge wet room bathroom.
The staff were excellent, extremely efficient and friendly. Hubby is small eater so asked for variation on both breakfast and dinner menus both days no problem at all.

The hotel itself is bright and welcoming with two good outside patio area3s, yes the sun came out for us. The hotel is also part of Auckland Project giving us discount on visitors tickets for museums, Spanish Gallery Miners Paintings and the new Faith Museum plux Bishops Castle and garden in Bishop Auckland . Well worth visiting and El Castillo Tapas Cafe attached to Spanish Gallery is excellent .

Everything was easily accessible for wheelchair user and staff everywhere were keen to engage to help and inform.

We also visited Ushaw Historic House just 20 mins away again fully wheelchair accessible with great staff.

There several other places of interest nearby including Heritage Railway, again there is a discount on tickets when staying at the hotel .

I can reccomend the hotel and area if looking for break with good wheelchair access

We purchased annual passes so will definitely be back soon.

This location is perfect for a small peaceful getaway. The staff are truly faultless. The day staff and the night staff provide incredible hospitality. The food is simply to die for. I definitely recommend the Frickles. Location is mid tier because its very rural however if driving the town is a small 5 minute drive from this location. Dog friendly!

Super hotel.staff were welcoming booked in on line so just the matter of collecting the key. Rooms were very nice and clean no complaints whatsoever. Lovely location, plenty of parking spaces, lovely little restaurant and bar. We didn't have an evening meal only breakfast but that again was very good.

This hotel is money well spent, absolute great stay, unlike a lot of hotels I've been to in England. Beautiful room, very good breakfast, very nice staff, very well maintained also. An absolute steal, spend your money wisely and book here.

Lovely 1 day stay at Park Head Hotel. Recently refurbished and extended- room felt brand new. Clean, quite room with a comfy bed and fab en-suite shower.
The staff were excellent and very engaging. I had an evening meal and a Top full cooked breakfast- added to the buffet breakfast was TBF a gut buster.
Top tip - when booking; get a room + breakfast included deal!
