There is NO-ONE better than Darren at repairing, servicing and setting up guitars. I took my Epiphone Les Paul Special II in and he fixed the problem right there and then, on the spot. Then went beyond what had been asked. Also a great bloke - I could have stayed talking to him all day. Taking my Fender Strat in next week for a general service. Totally recommended. I had Daz do a fret dress and setup on my 90s Les Paul and a setup on my Strat. He also fitted bone nuts to both. They now both play better than ever and I'm finding it difficult to put them down. He's an expert at figuring out what sort of setup you need depending on your playing style. Extremely knowledgeable in a friendly way. Very much recommended.

New to the area, I found Darren on line! He diagnosed the problems with my 50 year old Gibson J45 and completed the work in 3 days. This included fitting pickup, re-fret, new nut, repairing and lowering the existing bridge to achieve a great action and feel to the guitar. Friendly and very reasonably priced there is no need to go anywhere else. Nice one Daz, it's now good for the next 50 years!!

My Fender Stratocaster developed a problem with the neck pick up. Daz diagnosed and fixed the problem in under 24 hours at a very reasonable price.

Excellent workmanship, service and communication. My wife’s Epiphone Hummingbird was badly damaged recently - neck snapped towards headstock. Darren has restored the guitar to a fantastic standard. The work is barely noticeable and the guitar plays beautifully. Would definitely recommend Darren to anyone looking for fair prices and great repairs.

Just picked up two of my guitars from Darren and wow... I'm super pleased with his workmanship, attention to detail and his incredible talent of professionally setting up guitars.

I left him with two difficult tasks and he has diagnosed the issues upon seeing my maple Stratocaster and my Steve Vai Ibanez Jem7vwh. Two completely different guitars, different bridges and hardware and both had several issues. Darren has perfectly setup both and is very skilled indeed at what he does. He has an absolute passion for his work and it shows in the end results.

Work carried out: Strat: replaced plastic nut at headstock with a durable bone one and set it perfectly giving more stability and solving issues with tuning after bending notes. Reset saddle positions with correct tension for all 6 strings, sorted out action across the fretboard and took away fret buzz in higher octaves. Had full setup on the guitar and handed it me back better than it has ever been!!

Jem: I took the guitar to him and all the hardware was loose and not even fitted to the guitar for several reasons, it had intonation issues and the Trem system just wouldn't settle in correct pitches which was driving me crazy as a professional musician and teacher. He setup the guitar so it plays so smooth and more importantly the intonation is spot on!! Bridge and Trem system perfect for 2 octave dive bombs, I've just played the hell out of it across literally all frets and the open chords are resonating perfectly in tune.

I'm super pleased I found Darren, a genuine, honest and reliable person, easy to get on with and without doubt the best professional for the job. He doesn't even charge that much either, I have spent countless hours and lots of money over the years trying to find a complete dedicated professional who can carry out the job to a precise high standard and I will continue to ask Darren to setup all my guitars in the future.

A top bloke, who will not let you down, and in today's world, to me that's priceless.

Took my Jackson to get serviced as had alot of fret buzz, Darren quickly diagnosed the neck with back bow and fixed both that set up the guitar perfectly, very well priced and very fast turn around would definitely recommend and will be taking all my guitars to him in the future

I took my eBay purchased guitar that buzzed all over with high action and was virtually unplayable. But Daz fixed it ! It now sounds great,plays great and feels great. Thank you so much. Highly recommended!

Just picked up my 2006 Fender Strat from Darren after I had a New Bone Nut fitted, as the plastic one cracked, and a full Set Up!

There’s only one word....”WOW”!!!!

Daz did a full fret dress and setup of my 15 year old Les Paul, its like having a new guitar, plays so much better than before. Hadn't realized how much difference it could make. Excellent service and price. Will use again for any future needs and have already been recommending to friends!

Like many other reviewers I have been delighted with the service and workmanship offered by Daz. It really has been exceptional.

A fret dress and a good set-up has transformed what I thought might have been a dud - a fairly cheap Les Paul type copy from Gear 4 Music - into something that plays beautifully.

It's just feels so lovely to play now, like a new, more expensive version of what I had before.

Funny thing was Daz, being the perfectionist I think, suggested how it might be possible to make it sound even better by replacing the bridge.

I hope - with enough practice - that I can one day be good enough that that would be worth the investment!

Took an old (25 + years) guitar to Darren for some TLC. It needed a partial refret, tidy up of the fretboard and new strings / setup. Darren did a fantastic job at a great price. Completed the work exactly as per the initial time estimation. True craftsmanship.

I needed a pair of active Fishman Fluence pickups installing into my Ibanez RG7 guitar. These are 3 voiced pickups, which required a professional installation. D L Povey Guitars listened to my requirements and gave excellent advice and direction. The entire service experience was 10/10.

I was very impressed with the pot work that had been carried out, very neat & good solid looking solder joints. The pickup cavities required deepening to accommodate the new pickups. I was informed promptly, and made aware of any extra charges. Communication was excellent, from first contact through to collection.

The set up service my guitar received was top tier! The guitar now feels very solid and even more a joy to play. The neck was straightened to just how I like it. String height, bridge saddle intonation is now bang on!

I fully recommend D L Povey Guitars! This is the tech you need! I will definitely be using their services again in the future.

Took my Gretsch to Daz for a setup after being unhappy with the guitar from new. It now sounds absolutely perfect with a fast turnaround and great price. Would highly recommend and will be taking all my guitars here in the future. Top bloke.

Called Daz after my Fender was sounding out of tune and not sounding right, so I called Daz for advice.
Upon dropping the guitar off he explained what he thought was wrong and what he thought would be the best way to correct the issue.
The guitar had a full set up, new strings, re tuned, intonation set up, cleaned etc.
After a couple of days it was ready, he explained in full detail what he had done and much more on how to look after the wood neck etc. Can’t believe the difference in how much clearer it sounds than before, better than when it was new. Excellent service and knowledge, highly recommend, will be using Daz again when its due.

Called Daz to get my guitar set up. Dropped the guitar off in the evening and it was ready a few days earlier than predicted. Not only that but the guitar is playing SO much better. Incredibly impressed with his knowledge and passion too as he not only explained what he would do but explained quite a bit about why. Definitely be going back if I need anything further!

Darren has modded a Yamaha Pacifica for me .. superb job, he is so easy to talk to and really knows Guitars .. loads of good advice and he is not expensive. Fully recommend him for any guitar build, repair or set up work.

Fantastic service. I was in a rush to have new pickups put in a les Paul as I was gigging the next day. He had the job done in 24 hours and even tweaked the set up. Really happy. Will defiantly use again.
