A lovely place to grab a bite to eat, food was really good, fresh and homemade, a little disappointed that in half term week the food menu stopped at 3pm, so we only had a choice of what was on the counter, what we had was however really lovely! Friendly staff, quick service and lovely location which is also dog friendly! Recommend the bacon and cheese pastry!

Very lovely place to visit. We have popped in here for both afternoon snacks, as well as for breakfast. The cake selection during the daytime is lovely, as well as very good tea. For breakfast, I strongly recommend the maple syrup + bacon pancakes - very tasty! Very nicely laid out inside, with a very nice atmosphere and a comfortable feeling about it. Would happily return here!

Thorpeness was a small fishing hamlet which was developed in the early 20th century into an exclusive holiday village. The village is full of characterful houses, including the unique house in the clouds.

At the heart of the village is an artificial boating lake known as the Meare. I remember boating here in the 1970s. This was January though and it was closed.

What was open was the Kitchen at Thorpeness. This was a modern building serving a range of drinks and food, as well as having a nostalgic emporium in the back.

When I went in, it was really busy, the village was very quiet, but the cafe was packed. I was given a warm welcome and asked what I wanted. I placed my order at the counter and took a seat at the table. I had been tempted by the cakes and scones, but I had had a big breakfast. It wasn’t long before my coffee arrived.

They serve Illy coffee, and this was an excellent flat white. I spent a pleasant time in the Kitchen, drinking my coffee and getting some work done.

Really enjoyed my coffee, and I as on my way out tempted to stay for a scone, but didn’t have the time. If I find myself in the area again, I will certainly visit, and maybe have a scone this time.

Stopped for a spot of lunch here. Seen it many times so thought we'd finally give it a go. Not disappointed. Pleasant friendly service, about average prices nice quality food. Recommend the sausage rolls, smashed avocado and the loaded cheese and chilli loaded fries. Indoor and outdoor seating and dog friendly too.

Stopped in at The Kitchen for a bit of lunch after walking down the beach. The cafe is dog friendly which is great and has a huge selection of home baked products which look fab. There were plenty of veggie options and the service was quick and friendly. Would highly recommend.

One of the best breakfasts in Suffolk, really excellent quality fare, always friendly service - my only minor criticism is a lack of black pudding ;) but with everything else as good as it is, I can't really complain!
Great selection of pastries and sweet treats for afters, too, and top quality coffee. Lucky to be so local and love to drop by on a fairly regular basis!

A fantastic dog friendly homely place with fantastic staff, great food and nice relaxed atmosphere. The breakfasts were so tasty, we picked up cheese scones and cakes to take back for lunch.

Awesome place…. Great Food… A take away counter is desperately needed!! We spoke to a couple who had waited 25 mins for just 2 coffees… we waited a similar time whilst getting in the way of Waitresses and diners in the “ take away wait zone”positioned right near the door 🤦‍♀

Great reasonably priced food. Lovely open cafe, indoor and outdoor seating.
Good for social distancing.

Great breakfast menu, egg and mushroom on toast and sausage and egg bap... went down well. Coffee is not so great, bitter and burnt. Airport coffee I'd call it.
But apart from that everything else was great, I'd highly recommend paying a visit.

Very crowded during summer months, so get there early.

Friendly staff.

My first visit here. Lovely surroundings, a great selection of delicious food. The fruit scone I ordered was absolutely huge!! The coffee was lovely too. Would definitely visit again and will recommend to my friends 🙂

Great cafe in a lovely spot overlooking the lake. Good coffee, and a fine bacon bap! Dogs are made welcome too. Parking just next door. There is also an interesting shop attached, worth looking in if you like vintage and collectables.

Great to see a place working well with all the current issues around lack of staff in the hospitality sector. The staff were right on with sanitising tables etc, nice and polite etc. The food and drinks came out in really good time, which I wasn't expecting (it was semi busy and we had some much longer waits in places locally that were a lot less busy!) Food was good, a little pricey, but c'est la vie, it's holiday season! And it was worth the money to be honest.

Great food but drinks were delayed. If you're happy to take pot luck with seating - all good, but probably wait for summer weather if you're a party of 6+ so that you can take advantage of the outdoor seating.

Open and ready to serve at 09.00am. Polite and attentive staff. Breakfast was good quality, freshly cooked and hot at reasonable price. Good choice on the menu for all times of day. Free on-street parking nearby, plus pay and display if area is busy.

Atmosphere great, very Christmassy, lovely decorations. Biggest scone and pots of jam and cream I've ever seen. Proper cream, and cheaper than a lot of other places. Combined with the Emporium shop, full of eclectic treasures. Anyone of any age can find something here. Brilliant.
