Booked for Sunday roast. Food, both quality and presentation was very good. Service a little slow at times but they were very busy. Staff helpful and friendly. Pub itself had a pleasant ambiance. Christmas tree and decorations. Warm log burners keeping it warm and cosy. Price reasonable. Will return. Definitely recommend.

From Bath and visiting the area for the weekend and what a treat to find this pub close by…just come back from the Hood Arms and had one of the best meals out we’ve ever had.

Goats cheese mousse was phenomenal, the ribeye the nicest we’ve tried and fabulous triple cooked chips. Oh and let’s not forget tempura battered onion rings! 😁. All next level.

Lovely, friendly staff and owners who added to our enjoyable evening. Thanks to Lou for being warm, funny and interesting. And male owner (sorry didn’t ask your name!) was also lovely.
Thanks for a fantastic meal and evening to the talented young chef and rest of the team. Will come back whenever we are back in the area for sure! 👍

Genuinely one of the best country pubs we've stayed in. Faultless.
Paul was a great host and took the time to guide us through the various walks available in the Kilve area. We got absolutely soaked during our walk and Paul upgraded our room for us to have the roll-top bath. It was a lovely touch after a soaking wet day and getting lost in marsh land....
Food was first class, great new menu and a great selection of wine and beers. Breakfast was special - top marks.
Overall it was a great trip, lovely area and the hospitality of the staff at The Hood was the icing on the cake. We will most definitely be back. Thanks all.

Great food and lovely traditional atmosphere. Super service.
Ideally located for walking especially Kilve coast. Very dog friendly; almost makes us wish we had a dog!

Great pub. Wow food. Some of the best I've had in any gastro pub anywhere. If I lived locally , this would be my go to place.

This pub is a total gem and is highly recommended as a destination for a weekend. The rooms and food are very reasonably priced but what sets this pub apart from so many others is the warmth of welcome from the owners and the fantastic staff. Room 6 has a lovely bathroom (with a rolltop bath) and the bed was super comfortable with superb bed linen. The only recommendation would be towels to match the bed linen. All of the food was superb (I had a great chat with the off duty chef who is clearly passionate about the menus/food provenance) and our dinner was superb. We actually had lunch (hearty sandwiches and triple cooked chips) dinner (grouse in a stunning whisky sauce) and a traditional cooked breakfast, all of which were excellent. We did a circular walk from the pub which took in the Quantock Hills and the Bristol Channel, (the area is beautiful) and we stayed at the pub with our Cockapoo Indie who was made really welcome.

Didn’t stay here but had the most wonderful meal . We went to a fine dinning experience evening , which was outstanding! The best food I’ve had in a very long time. The staff were great and the pub was clean and well looked after . I would definitely return .

An amazing gastropub with refurb rooms in a 17th century inn, warm and welcoming staff, and the best, silkiest scrambled eggs for breakfast I have ever had!

Great food and service. We were here during the coronation afternoon and the pub was very quiet but we had a great time, the staff was very friendly. Though doesn’t look like this place (not just this pub but the village itself) gets a lot of foreigners visiting, as a lady who works in the pub mistook my Asian friend as someone who did her nails in the local nail saloon……..

Great location near the Kilve Jurassic beach, plenty of fossil to find, just watch out for the high & fast tide.
Really nice beer garden, good quality fillings in sandwiches.

Visited here with my family celebrating my son's birthday. We all had a lovely meal cooked to perfection - most enjoyable. The staff were very friendly and gave excellent service. I look forward to visiting again soon.

We and our guests had the most wonderful Sunday roast dinner today. The food was very well cooked and there was so much of it and included all the vegetables as well as cauliflower cheese at no extra cost. So, very good value for money. The staff are all so helpful, friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The ambience is convivial and warm. Great to see the log burners being used. It all adds up to a lovely experience. Thank you all for making our lunch so enjoyable.

As always, had a lovely meal and evening here in early autumn. Still very green on the Quantocks but just beginning to turn on autumn shades. 🍂

One of the best Fish and Chips I have ever had!
Relaxing, countryside atmosphere with very helpful & accommodating staff.

**Parking tip**
If you can't find a free spot in front of the pub there is a bigger free car park on the opposite street side with less than a minute walk

What a gem of a place. The outside is deceptive to the gorgeous interior with a couple of stoves lit and chucking out warmth on a grey wintery day.
The reception was amazing which made us want to stay and enjoy some scrumptious food off the lunchtime menu.
Even the dog we had with us had treatment above & beyond with a shower and towels provided.
Definitely another visit to be made.

I was a difficult customer as soon as I walked in, asking for our reserved table to be changed to one further from the door. The staff were so lovely about this, and offered us another table that was just perfect, and with no 'attitude ' that can sometimes result from such a request. The pleasant service continued through lunch, which was exceptional. A Scotch egg starter with beautifully soft yolk and the lightest, crispiest coating, then a generous plateful of Sunday roast and all the trimmings. Sticky toffee pudding up with the best I've ever had. We loved it, would highly recommend.

What a fantastic pub!! Recently we have visited a number of places and been so disappointed by the food… the Hood arms has restored our faith in good food in a great setting. The food was superb and the atmosphere and staff matched it. My wife spent 20 years in Kilve growing up and we haven’t visited in a number of years .. so glad we did!! Highly recommend.. we will be back !! John & Erica

We had dinner here, on a busy Friday night. The staff were amazing accommodating us despite not having a reservation - although a good idea to make one. The food was exceptional!

We turned up for Sunday lunch with no reservations, just a fancy for the place as we drove past it on the way for a walk in the Quantock Hills.

We walked in through the front door to find the Hood Arms heftily packed with diners. We figured we were in trouble! However, we were greeted with smiles from the staff, and apologies that whilst they could manage to squeeze us in, they'd sold out of a number of dishes on the menu. They offered us to contact other local eateries to see if they had space, but the time was already 3:40pm and we knew we were already pushing our luck for somewhere to eat.

What can I say? The staff were wonderful, they more than accommodated our needs (6 diners - 3 of which veggie (one gluten free) and a fussy eater!) They tweaked our orders to satisfy what they had left on the menu with what we fancied, service was also prompt and attentive. They'd clearly had a busy day and we turned up no doubt just as they were hoping to clear away, but despite that they were an absolute delight.

The food? The food was superb.
