Lovely pub on the canal. Sat outside under there decking area. Food was brilliant, had a jacket with tuna mayo (comes with fresh side salad) and portion of onion rings - best I had, not greasy, crunchy and soft onion inside. Be warned this ain’t no small lunch jacket you usually get a cafe/pub, it is very filling and wasn’t expecting to be this big and nice. The staff were very friendly and helpful as was the service. Will be coming back here in future.

I arrived at the premises, we did not have a booking, even though it was Easter Sunday, they managed to find us a table. Extremely welcoming and very friendly staff. I chose the turkey Sunday roast option. The carvery was good choice, good condiments, chefs also very friendly too. I will absolutely be back

Have driven past the pub many times over the years. The big red sign saying you can hire the whole pub has been putting me off. It is the equivalent of the massive sky sports banner seen on the outside of many sport themed establishments - this is a real turn off.
However a lesson has been learnt; never judge a book by its cover. The food quality was amazing. The lamb fell off the bone and was not at all fatty. The rump steak was decent. Over all portion size was more than adequate and good value. Friendly staff, good beers and actually got a white wine spritzer instead of wine and lemonade.

Had an excellent family lunch, 15 of us. Food, service and the local beer were excellent. They did a great job especially as, I don't think more than two people ordered the same thing on the menu. We will certainly go back there.
PS Good parking too.

Lovely ice cold estrella on tap with nice outside seating available on warm days overlooking the canal, fantastic service with a smile from Sam and Charlotte very attentive to my small children. Fish and chips was pukka and served with all the condiments you could want!! Great establishment would recommend to all.

Stayed overnight in our campervan, free if you have a meal, limited places best to check first. Great welcome from Brendon. Good range of beers and spirits, and a great menu. We had an excellent meal and some good wine. Location at the canal side is fab, and if you cross the bridge there are walks including off lead for your dog. Altogether a good stopover for camping carists.

Nipped in here a couple of times for a late lunch on Sundays - lovely food and cosy atmosphere. Staff also great with allergy checks.

A cozy little place to grab a drink or some good food. We managed to sneak in just before the kitchen closed and had a light bite. Food was good, the place was clean and picturesque (literally right on the canal!) And staff were friendly, helpful and polite. Definitely a place to pop into, even to just relax and watch the world go by for a little while.

Free boat mooring, the best pub burger with the yummy crispy onions, friendly and funny staff. We went back the next night to try more of the menu!

Great location right by the canal. Lovely sunny spot. Peaceful watching the boat's go past. Good choice of drinks and food, big portions. We had the Sunday Carvery and is the best that we have ever had. Would definitely recommend.

We chose The Jolly Boatman for lunch last Sunday and we were delighted with our choice. We decided on the Sunday Roast and it was absolutely delicious. The beef was slightly pink making it lovely and juicy and the serving was very generous, the roast potatoes were golden brown and crunchy on the outside and soft and fluffy inside, the selection of vegetables was great and to my absolute delight was there was not a pea in sight!! There were two different gravies and a cheese sauce for the cauliflower and broccoli if desired. The pub was busy but the service from the delightful cheerful, smiling Traci put the bow on show to what was a thoroughly enjoyable yumcious lunch. Thank you Traci.

Great food and table service! Had a lovely time. Only downside is that they aren't allowed to make cocktails. But the food is truly amazing. I had the rump steak with stilton sauce and it was cooked to perfection. Waiters/waitresses are polite and friendly. I recommend this place!

Canal side with plenty of spac to moor and only a short walk from The main Thrupp moorings.

Food was good, had chicken and bacon pie, in a proper case which is always a big bonus.

Not a huge selection of ales but ones available were safe quality beers.

Great meal and banter. Parked our camper van overnight in car park. Is bollarded til morning but if you have a word that can be sorted. Special shout out to Ben behind the bar. We loved our first camper night away. Right by Oxford canal. Brilliant walks by houseboats.

Popped in on the off chance and so glad we did. The staff were lovely and helpful and we're very welcoming, the fire had just been lit and we were offered the table right by it so didn't stop to think about it.

The menu was well balanced and offered vegetarian / vegan but we went down the carnivorous route. I asked for some hot sauce as a side dip and they had some sriaracha, nice touch!!

Food came out nice and quick and it didn't feel rushed or hurried while we enjoyed our drinks and conversation in the lovely chairs.

Very pleased with the entire establishment and will certainly go again in the future
