ALDI

On balance, I am giving the new Aldi store 5 stars.
As a Lidl shopper (and every other supermarket in truth) I was keen to check out the new store.
I liked;
1. It was quiet. Later on is clearly a great time to go.
2. Some of the products seem as good if not better than Lidl.
3. They had some bargains in the middle which were right up my street. Usually I avoid this stuff.
4. They had animal friendly toiletries ( more than Lidl ) and a small but decent range.
5. The beers look ok. The gin looks amazing and it was all so tidy and we'll presented. Great job!

Importantly, I liked the fact you can fill your water bottle in the loo. Very few supermarkets have come to accept that flogging endless plastic bottles and deliberately having no cold water is evil and cruel to the world. Sure - everyone sells plastic bottles but the withholding of fresh cold water is criminal and should be mandatory. Proper hand dryers are also very much appreciated.

I didn't like;
1. No free range sausages, seemingly.
2. Herding of customers with barriers - why make it so hard to get in and out of both sides of the till? Or the doors? If people are nicking stuff use these barriers but please have a free walkway so you can get to the loo without behaving suspiciously by climbing over said barriers. Also, having to go around the entire store to collect someone and help them pack is kind of annoying. Again - it's security but it makes Aldi look paranoid.
3. A few alcohol lines are missing.
4. A couple more frozen vegetable options would be good.

I look forward to visiting again. Definitely go late! 👍

Great parking , huge choice of produce ,very well stocked shelves and freezers

Good sized Aldi store, good parking and well located on the outskirts of Shrewsbury

The best store! I think that's enough! Delicious and affordable as prices food and many other goods.

Logistically better than other supermarkets. Why? 1. You can drive in easily - no ridiculous one way system. 2. Large parking spaces make parking and loading stress free. 3. Wide aisles inside. 4. You load the food straight back into your trolley at checkout. This stuff is simple but the established supermarkets have given up on their customers

Went to Aldi to get snack bars to eat at lunch. There was lots of variety and a great selection, ended up with These fibre now bars which are very nice and very cheap

Visited Oteley road, Shrewsbury store this afternoon (16.6.23) and my 4 year old fell asleep in my arms while shopping. Morgan was really really helpful, she picked up a couple of products for me, opened a new till and helped me load all of my shopping onto the conveyor belt. She was amazing! Thank you!

Great discount supermarket! Better than the big 4 easily. Never had a problem with any of the products or produce.
This particular branch is probably the biggest one I've seen with more choice, it also has really wide aisles and a slippery floor coating so I had great fun drifting around with my trolley.

As with all Aldi, well laid out, well stocked. Parking was clearly designated and ease of entrance/exit.

Staff pleasant and polite.

This is not a local Aldi, so was convienent and close to the road we needed to travel. This is a newly built store and kept clean.

I came in store today without a £1 for the trolly to put my 11month old son in, so resigned myself to having to use a basket. When I was struggling to carry my baby and shopping a member of staff helped me carry it and then loaded it onto the conveyor belt for me 😁

Everything about Aldi I love, except some of the staff ...I've been in customer service all my life, and some of them, not all, need to know a customers needs are more important than carrying on a conversation with a colleague.....also to learn to look at a customer if they as a question, not just a one word answer like no! Disappointed with one in particular on my visit, but apart from that aldi food and groceries are the best

Always very pleased with the prices and quality of goods and love the wines that they sell
