Outdoor Vibe

When Outdoor Vibe was recommended to me by a friend local to Coniston, I didn't hesitate to get in touch whilst on the hunt for some YakTrax. The more frequent wintery weather makes for unpredictable surfaces, and I wanted to be more prepared to navigate the Lake District on foot in icy conditions!

I made initial contact through social media and received a speedy, personable and friendly response from Nathan. Although what I was looking to purchase wasn't immediately in stock, I was informed that a delivery was on its way and I was notified quickly when they had arrived in store to collect.

Owned and ran by locals too, the team can offer helpful knowledge and advice (thank you for the 'Wild Swimming Walks' book too!). There's no pressure to buy either. In fact I felt perfectly comfortable browsing my way through the outdoor ranges on offer.

Located in the very centre of Coniston village, be sure to have a mooch at the fantastic range of stock on offer the next time you visit.

Nathan is wonderful! Beautiful shop with a wonderful range of gear for all sorts of outdoor fun for yourself, your kids, or for your furry fellow adventurers.
He has a wealth of local knowledge and has provided us with some fantastic help for some finds that won't be forgotten.
We travelled from Berkshire/Oxfordshire for the weekend 18 months ago, and this is when we first met Nathan, we revisited this weekend, and we went to go and find him, and he remembered us both.
If you're in the area, his wonderful shop is 100% worth a visit! Thank you, Nathan, you made our weekend more enjoyable!

Providing quality equipment and advice to support a variety of outdoor activities from fishing to skateboarding! The owner, Nathan, is clearly a well seasoned outdoors man. Incredibly friendly and helpful who's knowledge and experience match his enthusiasm and love for all thing outdoors. 👍

Brilliant service from Nathan on Saturday. Went well out of his way to help me after a bike crash, not sure what I would have done without his help. Genuinely nice person, go and buy stuff from him!

Nathan and his wife are two of the most friendly knowledgeable locals I've ever encountered
They also have a great range of quality products, everything from high end equipment,to just a bit of fun to do with the kids
Fishing, paddle boards,swim gear, knives,fire kits,even got a little section for our beloved pooches

Absolutely fantastic time for myself and my son. We were complete fishing novices and Nathan looked after us perfectly. Really knowledgeable and respected guy and the best thing was that we actually caught some fish. The shop on the main street is also worth a visit. I would not hesitate to recommend him.

My son and I went out on an evening fishing trip with Nathan. We had a fantastic time! Nathan is highly knowledgeable and helpful. He had us with rods in the water within minutes of departure from the Bluebird Cafe jetty. His boat is fitted with sonar to help find the fish and we had a fair haul of perch by the time it got dark and we called it a night! We highly recommend this experience for beginners like us. huge selection of outdoor goods and essentials all at decent prices! much better than the other camping shops in the town! don't be fooled by the size of the shop as their stock range is massive! they sell everything from fishing tackle and paddle boards to biking gear and camping equipment, they also sell a range of very nice quality hand crafted knives made by a local as well as your standard branded camping knives. the owner nathan is very friendly and witty, I will definitely be visiting again.

This shop is a real find in Coniston, it has a wide range of products, which you don't even know you need until you see them. We bought fishing equipment, a dog lifejacket and a replacement inflatable mattress. When Nathan didn't have something he sourced it in another store in Coniston and advised us to go there.
The family went out fishing with him and loved it. Can't recommend highly enough.

for the last few years ive been going to coniston following a tradegy in the family and found this gem of a shop and an utter unbelivable master at his craft in nathan has helped me no end and went on his boat for to be honest the highlight of my year was just outstanding he knows his stuff trust me from a good fisherman i know a genius at work 5star all the way

Go in. Nathan has curated a wonderful selection of products for those intersted in the outdoors and adjacent walks of life! I bought a lovely bar of soap and a bar of coconut shampoo. He himself is a wonderful fella and we spent a lovely time conversing about good food, its procurement and cooking, as well as sharing experiences of times spent on the hill, field and water. I thoroughly recommend him and his shop!

Great fun out with Nathan on Coniston Water! We learned something new, we caught lots of perch and we have some giggles along the way! We’ll definitely book again next time we are in the Lakes.

I don't usually leave reviews. In fact I've never left a review for anything... especially for a shop that's not too far down the road from where i live, but if you're in Coniston and heading up the Old Man, this little shop is a must.
I only popped in today to ask for directions and the chap behind the counter (sorry I didn't catch your name) went very far out of his way to help me out and couldn't have been cooler... really ace guy!!
As for the shop itself - in an area where you don't have to go far to find a walking shop it was great to find this tiny gem! It certainly sits apart from the rest.
It's found it's niche, that no other outdoor shop around here shares.. everything in there was something I didn't know I needed but can't live without... essential camping trinkets, bike maintenance stuff, fishing gear, things i didnt know the purpose of but wanted anyway...
If you have any family members that are in to the outdoors (in any capacity) and you can't think of a good birthday present - this is the place to go.

Some proper quality outdoors supplies available. Really diverse and seems to specialise in ethically and environmentally sound products. We asked endless questions and they were greeted with humour and informed responses. Locally owned so you even get the best recommendations for beer! Well worth a visit!
