Black Bull Godmanchester

A welcoming historic pub in a lovely town, and a fantastic stay. The weather was very kind to us so we got to enjoy the lovely beer garden. We stayed over and our room was cosy, with a comfy bed and a nice powerful shower. We also had an evening meal, there is a good choice of traditional pub grub and what we ordered was delicious (so much so that we decided to stay a bit later to have Sunday lunch before heading back home, this was also superb). The evening we stayed there was also an excellent singer, and we got to make friends with the locals and staff, who were all friendly and super lovely. Last but by no means least, a good ale selection! They have a couple of permanent beers on and then apparently rotate/experiment with other ales regularly, and no complaints from me there!

Great place! Went here while we were getting work done on the car. They opened the kitchen early for us which was really nice of them and the food was delicious. Partner and I ordered burgers and chips thinking it would be usual fast food quality but the burger was so thick the chips were crispy and the ingredients were so fresh. Staff are lovely and welcoming and the atmosphere is really nice. Definitely recommend for a lovely lunch somewhere out of the way.

Recent trip to the Blackbull after years of not visiting. The new owner is incredibly passionate about the pub and you can see the love that has been put back into it. This place holds a lot of childhood memories for me, my mum was there as staff for 14 years! It's refreshing to see someone love it as much as it deserves to be loved! I can't wait to see it thriving again! I'll definitely be back!

Having your own private room was perfect. Jess, the landlord, supplied a TV so we could show pictures from our laptop.

First impressions they say, well this place has certainly got it going here, real ale beer is fantasticly well kept, the staff are all so nice takes you by surprise really. Dog friendly all over what more could you ask for? Will hopefully enjoy a great night with good food and even some folk music! Well done to all it does get noticed this is how a local pub should be. Forgot to add food very good indeed plates hot, generous portions great all round, such a welcome surprise. New owners doing it all right, keep it going line this and people will notice.

Lovely place and at a very competitive price. Godmanchester is lovely, the staff were great and the room was immaculate. I don’t think I’ve ever slept in a more comfortable bed too!

They kindly accommodated our timing for our Monday lunch.

The portions are very generous and the food really tasty!

We visited the pub twice this weekend. Once for the pub warming for the new owners and again for Sunday roast. Both were lovely events and we were welcomed like family. The roast was delicious and the service was excellent. We'll definitely be visiting several times in the near future!

Amazing pub. Staff are super friendly and a huge asset - I asked how much a plate for a plate of roast potatoes that the bar staff were eating, they weren't for sale but they gave us a plate for free as they had some left overs in the kitchen. New favourite pub in Godmanchester and will have to return for a full roast - the roasties were sooooo good!

P.s start selling roasties - we'd pay for another plateful :p

Lovely atmosphere, great service and nice food. Would recommend to anyone who wants a great pub meal or a simply a drink at the bar.

We had my granddaughters wake in the hall at the Black Bull. We can't thank them enough. They were extremely accommodating for us at such a sad time.

Great little Pub and Accommodation. The room we stayed in was clean and tidy and very comfortable Bed. The Pub down stairs has a warm friendly feeling with helpful staff. Close enough to Cambridge and attractions.

We were out walking in the area and saw the signs for the Black Bull, glad we did, amazing Sunday roast and the gravy is awesome I had to get some bread to finish it off.
Ciders and beers on tap with a relaxed atmosphere a great place to stop and recover.

Fantastic night at the Tuesday jam night! A very talented and welcoming team (especially the landlord on accordion!) Great drinks and Neck Oil on tap and dog friendly too! If you tried the Bull under previous management try it again you won’t be disappointed!

A massive thank you to Steve and his staff! Having been let down massively by a local wedding venue - Steve and his team have gone out their way to give us and amazing wedding at very short notice. I feel so reassured that the evening will be perfect.
