Carswell Farm Holiday Cottages

We had a short weekend in the Beach Hut in mid September . We loved it - everything about it. It is totally isolated and peaceful. The hut is beautifully equipped and cosy. The hot tub is fabulous and when it rains it simply does not matter. The Carswell team were very helpful and friendly . A big part of me did not want to write this review because I know how hard it is already to get a booking here!

First stayed here 14 years ago and loved it then. Stayed last week and it was still lovely. Fantastic wood burner - perfect with a glass of wine on cold winters evenings.
Within 5 min walk of the coastal pathway, with stunning scenery whichever direction you take.

Perfect location for numerous activities.. we were part of a wedding party ( nearby associated Carswell Weddings field with views over looking the coast) and were able to utilise all the accommodation in barns cottages and the main house. We stayed in The Corner House and it was perfect. Everything has been thought through and provided to allow total self sufficiency. Local provisions were awaiting.
Bedrooms were comfortable( although slightly odd v bouncy beds?) , bathrooms very clean and the living area was spacious for large family gatherings. Overall a winner - thank you. A memorable stay for many reasons !

We did the foraging course with Trudy and it was amazing.We learnt a lot which plants to pick and how to prepare them. We made a lovely lunch with wild garlic bread. Pesto with stingy nettles. A fresh salad with chickweed, watercress etc. I would highly recommend a day or more with Trudy and at the holiday cottages.

The stay at the Beach Hut was a totally magical experience, one that we will talk about and remember for some time. The idyllic isolation was so very beautiful we both felt so happy that we were able to stay. Listening to the waves and looking out on the ever changing view was definitely good for the soul. I would recommend this accommodation , to anyone who wants to totally relax.

My husband and I stayed a week in The Lodge during the
HOT September weather. We had the most wonderful week. Dawn went above and beyond in her help and generosity, including when i left my glasses behind..they arrived at my home next day! The Lodge is unique- i loved the details of the woodwork. So comfortable and charming - beautiful decor and pretty private garden. Very enjoyable pub lunches and beaches - hope to return!

We had a wonderful stay at Corner Cottage, a beautiful home from home with so much space to enjoy and relax in. Gorgeous gardens and so close to amazing coastal path walks it really is the perfect Devon get away. Jo and the Team are so helpful and made our stay even more enjoyable 😀

Amazing!! The Beach Hut is everything you could wish for and more if your looking to go off-grid and re-connect as a couple. Cosy and quirky with all the essentials you need. A beautiful little hideaway with stunning views.....perfection by the sea! Sipping bubbles in the hot tub under the stars, chilling in the hammock watching the waves crashing over the rocks, playing games, dancing in the rain and taking in the perfection that the Beach Hut offers. Loved it so much that I booked for next year as soon as we had phone reception. The hampers selection is great too, food is locally sourced, fresh and tasty! All in all an amazing experience!

Recently stopped at Lambside House for a wedding - Could not fault the property and location, and the wedding venue itself was unbelievable.

Not only a great holiday/wedding - but also a great family who helped me out of a tricky situation with my car (with me not paying attention and getting stuck)

Couldn't recommend them enough.

We stayed in the amazing beach hut and had a wonderful time. It is a real away from it all and gave a special recovery time from working throughout covid19 pandemic. The views, sea, coastal walks and weather were superb, was pleased to go for a dip in the sea which is amazing in December! The hot tub was heavenly too. When we got home many people remarked at how we 'glowed' and looked rested. Highly recommend the beach hut and the friendly carswell staff.

We spent an idyllic 5 days at Lambside House with our family and our very well behaved dog. The house was extremely clean and well equipped, we felt very welcome when we arrived as there were flowers on the table and a personal message to greet us alongside some farm eggs and some provisions in the fridge. If you are looking for a relaxed, getaway from the world holiday, we would certainly recommend Carswell Cottages. Lambside is spacious and decorated in a tasteful style, the garden is restful with good views and the beach is within walking distance.

Perfect romantic retreat away from it all. Cottage immaculate with everything you may need, pristine beach, outdoor hot tub perfect for watching the sunsets from. A truly magical place.

We had a 8 night stay in The Mews - it was exactly what we needed to get away from the hustle and bustle of the real world. Dawn was great throughout the booking process and very accommodating as we had to change our plans 3 times due to the COVID restrictions that were being announced almost daily at the time. This lead to us coming earlier than planned and Dawn even cleaned the cottage on Christmas Eve so we could come as the cleaners were off for Xmas.
The cottage was cosy and has everything you could need for a remote stay, despite being remote the WiFi is strong and has great speed. There are plenty of scenic walks along the ocean pathway with breathtaking views. It is quite hilly in places but not overly challenging for the average walker. I highly recommend booking a stay at The Mews to everyone and we will be back in summer either to stay at The Mews or try the Beach Hut that looks just as special.

We've just come back from a long weekend at The Mews. What a magical place! Love the design and layout of this cute and cosy cottage, and the 'Luv tub' is just gorgeous. The cottage is very comfortable and has everything you could possibly need. Fantastic views and lots of privacy. Would love to come back as soon as possible!

Its our 4th time to Carswell Cottages. Loved every time ❤ stayed twice at Lambside and also in Shepherds Cottage and The Lodge. All beautiful and clean with everything we needed. The local area is gorgeous, lots of lovely beaches, coastal walks and pubs! The Ship Inn at Noss Mayo highly recommend. We love to go in early Spring or Autumn when the dogs can go on the beaches and its not so crowded. We will definitely be back next year.

We’ve been coming down to Carswell for a number of years now and have stayed in both The Mews and The Lodge. We can’t speak highly enough of both properties and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them (or any of the other properties which are all beautiful). They’re decorated to a high standard throughout and you’re always given the impression that nothing’s too much trouble if you need any help or advice during your stay. The milking tours are great for all the family and it’s just a wonderful area to stay in, whether you have a young family or are a couple having a break away. We love it here and consider The Lodge our home from home now!

A cosy cottage for 2, lovingly restored and well equipped in an area of unspoilt and natural beauty. We visited in January 2015 for a short break and spent 5 days happily relaxing, walking and enjoying the local scenery (you can walk to the beach). The cottage is to a high specification with a clear determination to support the environment through it's approach to provide eco- friendly cleaning products, and to encourage re-cycling. We found this to be a refreshing addition that we hadn't experienced in other holiday cottages. The wood burner in the lounge provided plenty of warmth (and fun) and the bed upstairs was huge and very comfortable.

Overall, this is a idyllic cottage in a beautiful setting, ideal for a couple looking for a romantic break.

Heaven on Earth. We spent our mini-moon at the beach hut and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Having a whole cove to yourself, completely cut off from the outside world. You take out the binoculars and even though you can see for miles - you can’t see a single sign of human life. It’s just you and nature. The hut is amazing, as is the hot tub, the bbq and the hammocks. A cove to yourself - it’s heaven.

Had such a relaxing break, beautiful, peaceful area. The cottage was lovely and the owners had thought of everything that you would need. Will definitely be going again.
