Less than a stately home, more a collection of interesting furniture. Lots of rosewood, and other rare woods. There is a fair number of striking pictures, all quite well kept. There were many National Trust volunteers on call to answer my questions which all made my visit enjoyable. Outside, the gardens are beautiful, but the views from the garden are outstanding.

Always a nice visit - slightly more reasonable scale building than many stately piles 😀 Wildly popular when we went as the tulips are out in abundance. Helpful staff for those with disabilities. Long wait at the cafe but a good coffee and scone at a reasonable price!

Lovely place for a stroll around a beautiful garden and house.

There is a shop, cafe that was pleasant and WC facilities. On the day we went there was a mobile coffee, ice cream van.

We did the Easter egg hunt and it was very engaging for little ones.

The staff were all very helpful and happy. ☺

Absolutely stunning house, really lovely gardens to explore and they put on an Easter trail for children over the holidays with a chocolate egg as a prize at the end. When we went, they had a project to refurbish some of the bedrooms, but even though you weren't able to see them, they had boards up explaining what they were doing, with images to show their plans and some volunteers who were happy to answer any questions. There is also a beautiful little church in the grounds that we were able to visit, and, as far as my daughter was concerned, the highlight was a pond with some very friendly fish!! A lovely day out, we really enjoyed ourselves.

Picturesque grounds and gardens. The tree walk was a little tricky to follow, but worth the effort. Try the the garden tour it give a understanding of the grounds and thier evolution. Usual NT cafe & shop

Lovely place to visit, good walks, friendly staff, car parks at present a bit on the small side. Ate inside, then later on ate on the outside under heated parasols. Small 13 C church. Not the best day light showers, but the perfume of the spring flowers washed the rain away.

Beautiful gardens in the spring, the tulips are a sight to behold. Lovely volunteers and a beautiful property that feels well loved. The Blue John pieces belomging to Ralph Dutton really caught my eye, they're gorgeous. The staff serving in the cafe should be praised, they were so welcoming, despite being rushed off their feet at lunchtime.

Beautiful warm Georgian country house with great artwork and interiors. Nice gardens and views across the south downs. There's a shop as well and a cafe. Spring time must be a fantastic time for visiting with the gardens that will be green and full of colours.

We had a free pass for entry and we picked a lovely day to visit.

The staff and volunteers were very friendly. Parking was very busy but we found a spot!

The grounds and gardens are very well kept and beautiful to walk around.

The kids liked trying to spot the fish in the pond.

The cafe is pretty small but lots of extra outdoor seating is offered. LOTS of benches throughout the ground.

There are toilets by the cafe. And a small gift shop on site selling gifts, plants and produce.

We wandered the grounds, looked through the lower floor of the house and went into the small church.

Though its not the largest National Trust we’ve been to; It’s still easy to spend a couple of hours here - longer even if eating/picnicing and if the weather is nice.

Took the granddaughters to see the Peter Pan event. Had to book a slot but even so the car park was pretty full. The girls had a great time in the house following the route through the Peter Pan experience. The crocodile was fun and seeing Peter's shadow fly across the bedroom wall. Ate in the cafe and walked around the grounds. A good Christmas experience.

Superb country seat, well preserved and conserved. So much more work ongoing to uncover the original Dutton decor, so will be worth a revisit later this year.

This is a fascinating place to visit. It is not very large but the rooms contains some very good quality furnishings.
The gardens were still colourful even when I visited in mid October
The room stewards were all most helpful and were happy to answer questions and give a lut background just about this delightful building.

A fine country house, with a fascinating history. Superb formal gardens , with a fine and working walled garden. Superb views over the South Downs, and the fields are open to walk , and close to the source of the river Itchen. Wonderful shop and cafe, informed and helpful volunteer guides, totally worth a long visit. National Trust , so it’s good to be a member but you can still go as day visitors. It’s a great day out for everyone.

Lovely helpful and informative guides in the beautiful house. The Church is wonderful with a wooden internal roof. The vast gardens are dotted with interesting items and the flowerbeds still blooming.

One of the most beautiful National Trust sites I have ever visited. Although, it is reflected in the entry price! Thankfully we had a free visit pass. Would've loved to be able to see more of the house as it is so well kept.

Really nice atmosphere the weather was awesome when we visited the place. Upstairs was closed in the house unfortunately we couldn't go there.
The garden, views behind the house and the little church is great. There's a small cafe inside and food is available until 2.30pm and then sandwiches and pastries are available. The food area got so many wasps around so be careful.

We loved all the beautiful Peter Pan themed Christmas decorations in the house and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We live in Dorset but it was well worth the trip!
