We had a great pub meal at the old kings head.

We had the Beef cheek rigatoni (came with crusty bread) and fish & chips.

Both were great, as was the service. Only questionable thing was the (awful) techno/dance music - not in-keeping or enjoyable for us. Would definitely return though, probably pop head in first to check on the music…

Broughton itself is such a beautiful, old worldly village - so well maintained and quaint. Will visit again on our way in/out of the SW Lakes.

A really nice place to stay. Lorna and Darren are a lovely couple not forgetting Woody the dog and the rest of the staff working there also.
The place was warm, inviting and cosy with open log fires. The food was amazing with locally brewed Ale's.
The room and bed were comfortable. Tea, coffee etc. available in the room. We had a very good night's sleep and breakfast was fab with Darren doing fried bread on request.
Thank you for a wonderful few days break.
Hope this will help you make a decision whether to stay here.

Lovely pub- we had the falafel flatbread and the fish and chips. Good size portions, definitely worth the price! Really good range of ales and ciders, absolutely would recommend the beer garden as well.

I don't often comment on places but I feel this is needed.
I stayed at Old kings Head whilst working locally in the area, I was extremely careful on selecting my accommodation due to being a single woman and not having stayed away on my own before. The pub was recommended by a fellow co worker and I can honestly say the staff looked after me wonderfully, I felt very safe and all the staff were very friendly ensuring I felt at home the entire time even had a little chat with the locals. The atmosphere of the pub was warm and welcoming, the food was fantastic and breakfast did not disappoint either. My Room was very comfortable and extremely clean, the toiletries were sweet too. I would highly recommend this lovely pub and have done to my company to ensure we use it again. Well done to all involved in making my stay over a lovely safe experience 😁

Service was friendly and attentive (without being ott).
Great Sunday lunch. We were a party of 5 (plus 2 dogs). The meat eaters enjoyed their beef and pork very much. I had the nut-roast, which was ok. Unfortunately they did it vegan, so I didn't get mash or Cauliflower cheese. Just a suggestion, it would have been nice if they'd asked if I wanted veggie or vegan, but no big deal, they got me some mash when I asked.

Darren and his team were incredibly hospitable and accommodating and kindly accepted our last minute dinner reservation for a party of 16.
We pre ordered our food and everything came out perfectly. We had two coeliacs in the group as well as vegetarians and a peanut allergy; Darren and the team accommodated this no problem. Lovely warm welcome to the pub, with friendly service and a great atmosphere. Can’t fault and can’t recommend highly enough as a lovely, friendly, cosy pub with delicious food. Thank you very much for having us!

Absolutely amazing staff.
We arrived late after motorway problems.
Even though they had stopped serving food; they went out of their way to accommodate us and cooked a beautiful meal for us.
So friendly and polite.
A beautiful old pub with an amazing garden, and very importantly; dog friendly.
If I could; I would give them 100 stars 😀👍

Food was good, had the steak and kidney pudding which was massive. Cod dish looked great. Pork belly was huge, I like black pudding but it was lost in the mash, would have been better on the side I think.
Dog friendly
Kids menu
Carpeted, so it absorbs sound and isn't too noisy.
Just off the main road.

Lovely hosts, excellent food. Rooms clean and comfortable. Loved the pomegranate room spray. Occasional noises through the adjoining door to the next room but overall highly recommended. I'd stay again.

Called in yesterday evening and was very pleasantly surprised with the plant based options, three mains, two starters and a lovely dessert. It all tasted as good as it looked! The service was great, staff very friendly and welcoming. Drinks are very reasonably priced. We'll definitely visit again if we're in the area again.

Old Kings Head is a brilliant hotel and restaurant, we spent a lovely long weekend there and the friendly, community atmosphere was really inviting! The room was great, beautifully laid out with everything we needed. The food in the restaurant was excellent, especially the Sunday roast! Darren and Lorna were excellent hosts as well as the rest of the team. It's a beautiful part of the world with great people and I would definitely stay there again! Thanks!

My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights in the middle of September. We had the most wonderful stay, hosted by incredibly welcoming staff! The breakfast service was exceptional with our wonderful waitress always proving us with local tips for our day trips! We ate such fantastic meals each evening in the pub knowing we had such a lovely warm and cosy hotel room to simply walk upstairs to!! We have recommended to so many friends and family and we cannot wait to come back ourselves!!
