Lovely steak meal and burger. Very reasonably priced. Welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff. Great welcome! Nice to have somewhere where our dog was made so welcome too!

Possibly the best burgers and steak in England. Very friendly and welcoming. Loved this place. We’ll be back.

Very accommodating. Had reservations at first if this place would be suitable for my two kids. This was put to bed once I messaged the establishment. Was basically told "we will sort you out". This promise was fulfilled. I had a massive steak cooked perfectly as requested med rare. My wife had the same. Son had the same but smaller portion. Then they created a sausage and mash for our daughter from their menu. All left happy and full. If I was in area again soon I would be back. Friendly and tasty food.

Brilliant pub. We were travelling in the area and decided to contact the pub to see if we could get a Sunday roast as a takeaway.
I’m so happy with the customer service. The gentleman that took my order called me when the food was ready to collect.
The food was outstanding. It was so delicious. Everything was packaged nicely and we had so much food we struggled eating everything. Worth every penny. If we visit the area again we will be sure to come back to this pub.

Thanks so much.

Busy and we hadn't booked, but they found a table for us. Service was excellent, staff fantastic and the food should've cost more. Good choice of everything. Will go again and remember to book 👍

This place might not look up to much from the outside but step inside and you are warmly greeted by the staff and a very clean pub. The meal we had was nothing less than outstanding. Best ribeye steak we have had in ages. Everything was imply perfect. Friendly staff and locals. Great beer as well! Highly recommended.

As what seems to be the norm in the north of England, the service was really so friendly and welcoming. Food great as well.
If you've got kids the playground over the road is excellent.

Following a spur of the moment booking of dinner for four I was surprised how busy this little out of the way hostelry was on a Tuesday. Having said that, there were not many eating so the booking wasn’t really necessary. Our order for drinks was taken promptly followed a few minutes later by our food order, very efficiently and politely done. We all enjoyed our meals and couldn’t find anything that was wrong with them. Good kitchen obviously. Will return sometime.

After a long day in the sun they sat the 8 of us at short notice and were very welcoming. The food was fantastic and the kids menu was great. All the food was locally sourced and the limited menu felt personal to the chef. Even the children's chicken nuggets were handmade. The portions and the hospitality were both more than generous. Well worth a visit.

Very pleased the pubs in nearby towns were full as it led us here! Fantastic food, we were there on burger and pint night. Cajun chicken burger was unreal! Great prices, friendly staff and atmosphere.

Absolutely lovely local free house, with a great team who went the extra mile to firstly sort a table for us and then provide a delicious meal for my partner who is gluten intolerant and pescatarian (just to make things tricky!). We also sat in the garden with our dog and a few beers/ciders the previous night. Lovely place that is deservedly busy...book ahead!

Just been for food and didn't disappoint. Even though they was really busy they sorted us a table. The 8oz rump steak Was amazing by far the best steak my husband has had and he has paid alot more for steak and wasn't as good. Burgers and pizza also really tasty. Very friendly staff would definately come back

As of July 2022 it appears the new leaseholders are now in and their opening times are at least temporarily set as every evening from 5pm and Sunday from noon. Closed Mondays. Food is now served part of the King Billy steak empire so top notch, also several real ales and decent wines. Now very busy, bookings probably needed at weekends.

Excellent food. Kindly offered to make children's portions of meals for 7 year old and swapped mash for chips for 10 year old. Desserts amazing - sticky toffee pudding to die for. Daughter had an amazing milkshake. Play park on the other side of the road so kids entertained between meals. Just perfect.
