Really interesting to read the history of how it began. Nice little stroll around the statue as it's not a big area at all. Biggest disappointment is that it isn't well advertised with signs to say where it is. We came across it by accident because sat nav diverted us pass the site.

Passed this on the way to Doune Castle. Stopped on the way back and glad we did. Superb memorial to David Stirling founder of the SAS. Very fittingly in the middle of nowhere with good views. Worth a stop just for the piece and quiet.

A surprise find while on route to Loch Lomond.
Ever wondered who started the SAS?
THIS GUY! David Stirling.
It's a simple memorial, with names of SAS members on plaques around the outside.
He's in a wonderful place with a view across the countryside.
Well worth a 10 minute stop on the way to wherever you're going.
A small car park that'll take about 8 cars.

One of the most memorable and moving sites to visit. Location gives panoramic views of Scottish scenery personally linked to the founder and wider membership of the SAS and linked organisations. Spend some time here and take it all in. You will leave feeling better for having visited.

The David Stirling memorial has fantastic views of the Highland boundary fault line. This place is especially worth a visit around about sunset to catch the amazing colours behind the mountains.

There are noticeboards telling you a little about David Stirling and there is also a small memorial stone to the soldiers who were lost in the wars from Doune.

Car park is small and can become busy quickly so if you're the first one there. Get the car turned around so you can drive straight out without any reversing around other vehicles.

Super spot, and very well cared for. Beautifully located and built, it provides a great and thorough history of the SAS and LRDG. It is lovely that it is open to the public - both for those who do not know much about the history of the U.K.’s special forces and the great man himself, Sir David Stirling, whose statue overlooks the land his family once owned, as well as for those who do. It is a good opportunity to spend some quiet time and/or pay one’s respects at any time of the year. It probably adds to the overall peacefulness that it is beside a field with some small standing stones in it.
There is always some wonderful wildlife flitting about and an excellent view of the Highland Boundary, particularly Ben Ledi, lending an air of tranquility to the place. Such as that which was fought so hard for by many great men who are named on beautifully engraved plaques placed into the ground around the statue - which I understand is a life size replica.
Thank you to all involved in building and maintaining this special spot.

A real gem set in a really peaceful and respectful place. As you'd expect from such a respected monument its outstanding and a moving tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

I liked it, I had driven past several times before I chose to stop by one evening. The views around are incredible so if you get chance to stop, do.

Great statute of a clever and courageous person, the surroundings are extremely fitting and breath taking. There's a carpark at the entrance, the whole site is very wheelchair friendly.

This statue is placed on a hill with an extraordinary outlook over the mountains. It’s particularly good at sunset. There is a car park with good access however, if your vehicle is wider (camper van etc) be careful of the angle of entry. There are no steps so fairly accessible to most. Excellent views of the Ochils, Wallace Monument, Stirling Castle, Ben Ledi, Ben Vorlich and Stuc a chroin. An abundance of stars on a clear night and if you’re lucky you might even catch the northern lights.

It's not a long walk from the parking area to the statue. It's larger than we expected, pretty spectacular. Interesting to see.

Memorial site and impressive bronze statue of Colonel Sir David Stirling, who was the founder of the SAS in July 1941. The statue was designed by Angela Conner. The memorial honours a great British hero and all the members of the SAS who have given their lives in service to their country. The memorial site is on the B824 from Doune. There is a small car park for about 10 cars beside the memorial.
