Bridgend Restaurant & Katie's Bar

We didn't know a restaurant was there since it didn't show on our map! The bar and restaurant is attached to the hotel, and so shows as just a hotel.

We were very pleasantly surprised by the menu, and the quality of the dishes were very nice.

We ordered the two Sunday specials, a roasted lamb and a roasted beef dish. The lamb was excellent, but the beef one was a bit tough. The appetisers, a mac in cheese with Mull cheese and the croquette with a poached egg were both really good.

Saw some burgers coming out, and they also looked excellent. The Islay Ale is very good too. No deserts ordered, unfortunately.

Worth to say that the staff there is quite pleasant too.

Note that there are timed slots for eating, and it is advised to make a reservation ahead of time. We would go there again for sure.

Outstanding all around! The menu offered a good range of options to suit everyone, with vegetarian and gluten-free options. The food was beautifully presented, every bite delicious. We had the scallops (savory, rich but not too much), the crab salad (fresh, SO GOOD), the lamb shank (the meat fell of the bone, hands down the best meat I’ve ever eaten), and the earl gray creme brûlée with lemon shortbread (subtle but divine flavors). Service was flawless: prompt but not overbearing, friendly but professional. Highly recommended - this was one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten!

Lovely stop for lunch. Menu was very special. We had Haddock sandwiches and tomato soup and they were delicious.

We dropped in to find a lovely room, great Islay beers, and menu had a lot of choice. Food arrived quickly and hot. It was the best meal of our holiday and would recommend it to anyone. Our server was really helpful and chatty too. Loved it.

We had a very good late lunch at this pleasant, cozy cafe. They have a decent selection of beers, ales and ciders on tap. The Mac and Cheese was delicious as was the Hummus on a thick slice of lightly toasted rustic bread. Our side of cole slaw was also very good. The service was friendly and excellent. For us vegetarians, it was one of our best lunches on Islay.

The food was excellent. I had the crab salad starter and then venison casserole. Both were delicious. The service was friendly and efficient.

Great service, food was amazing. We all had fish and chips. Only a tenner on a Friday. Thoroughly recommend it
