My partner and I ate here as we wanted to grab a bit to eat whilst enjoying the sun and we were both stunned by the food. The chef has got his flavours absolutely nailed, everything tasted amazing and the dishes were the type that you’d expect at a high end restaurant. This being said, the prices were still very affordable and the portion sizes are generous - so much so that I walked in quite hungry and still couldn’t finish my plate. The only criticism I have is that we waited upwards of 20 minutes for our food, but I’m more than happy to look past this as it was very busy, the food was well worth the wait, and the staff were attentive and checked on us regularly. If you’re Kent based and haven’t checked this hidden gem out, please do!

We were staying next door and Coach House immediately felt like an extension of our cottage! Very friendly husband and wife team, great Greek influenced food (my chicken salad was fantastic), family friendly. Also good breakfast options, we had coffee and cake and just regret not being able to try more options!

Full marks for our lunch today at The Coach House, celebrating a friend's birthday. We were a mixed group of diners, including two vegans and a vegetarian, and although this isn't a dedicated veggie menu, we each found a delicious and well-cooked choice from the pitta menu - two falafel and one halloumi, both served with salad and incredibly tasty seasoned chips. Our server was very attentive, and the chef came out personally to check that we were all happy and that the food was good. Very reasonably priced, and a decent drinks list. Thank you Coach House, we will be back soon! 🙂

A Hidden Gem in New Romney: The Coach House

My wife and I are not frequent diners, but when we do indulge, we seek out venues that offer great cuisine at reasonable prices. The Coach House in New Romney has consistently exceeded our expectations, earning the title of the best dining spot in town by a long shot!

What sets The Coach House apart is its dedication to quality. Every dish showcases ingredients of the highest caliber, with a focus on sourcing locally whenever possible. From farm-fresh produce to succulent meats, each bite is a testament to the Freds commitment to excellence.

It's disheartening to see recent reviews that fail to recognize the value of this small, local gem. These criticisms seem unjustified and out of touch with the realities of running a business like The Coach House. Perhaps these individuals would be better suited to the food and environment offered in a less classy establishment, but for those who appreciate genuine culinary craftsmanship, The Coach House is a true find.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Fred and Hazel for their tireless dedication to delivering exceptional food. Their commitment to quality and passion for food shines through in every dish, making The Coach House a must-visit destination for anyone with an appreciation for fine cuisine. Thanks to Fred, Hazel, and the entire team for their continued excellence!

We were staying at a nearby campsite and went into New Romney to get some dinner. The dog friendly pubs we visited all stopped serving food at 7pm so we wandered down the high street and stumbled across The Coachouse tucked down a little alleyway.
Although the dogs were not allowed in the restaurant they had outside seating and the owner said we were welcome to eat there.
What a little find! The food was first class , owner was the chef. The husband and wife team have got this place spot on. Friendly and professional service. Music playing was right up our street and we had an unexpected lovely evening at this great little establishment.
Would throughly recommend and the moussaka and Halloumi fries were amazing.

Wonderful hidden gem just off the main shopping street. The food, both veggie and meaty is outstanding and very generous servings! Coffee and milk shake top notch too. The service was super friendly, and they kindly accommodated an autistic diner with sensitivity and care. Highly recommended!

The best part of our mini holiday to Camber Sands. I am sorry we only discovered this place on our last day here as we had the best food ever.
As soon as we got out of our car, Fred welcomed us giving us change to pay for the car park as it was before 6pm.
Hazel made sure we were happy with everything and brought us a high chair for the little one as we encountered a very strange experience the day before where we were denied access with the baby in a pub/restaurant in Camber.
Had 2 moussaka , drinks and their fresh made cakes.
If you are as disappointed as we were by the food in Camber sands and the restaurants around, this place is only 15-20 min away by car and I promise you won't regret it.
The food is fresh made and the atmosphere cosy and intimate, perfect for couples, families or friend groups.
A massive Thank You to Hazel and Fred for welcoming us to your gem of a restaurant and delighting us with your amazing food!

Popped here for lunch on a weekend away and had a lovely experience. We brought our puppy with us and sat outside. We were immediately greeted by our server who was warm, welcoming and friendly - and very good with our dog! We got served quickly, I had the croque Monsieur which was served with an amazing mango chutney - delicious! The chips were really well seasoned and super crunchy! We also bought some millionaires shortbread to take away with us, also very tasty. It was lovely sitting in their cute little outdoors area with the church in the background and the sun shining. When I popped inside to use the toilet, I saw how lovely the décor was, with the coach house theme running throughout. Definitely worth a visit to this charming café in a sweet village. Parking right next door too!

We had been told by friends to try the coach house. We went Friday for late lunch. It was fairly quiet. We had gyros and a chicken salad and coffees.
Food was fantastic. Great coffee. Friendly staff. Our new favourite place to lunch.

My partner and I had the loaded pancakes. Which were 4 thick drop pancakes loaded with greek yoghurt, different fruits, pistachio nuts, maple syrup, chocolate and little chunks of salty bacon. Taste explosion. Delicious and very filling. Topped off with a delicious coffee or two 😋

Visiting from the US for a week and stopped in several times. Coffee was fantastic and the food was just as impressive. Workers were friendly and even remembered us and our drink orders!

For transparency I am a regular customer in the Coach House, but there's a reason I am a regular customer. Thier food is freshly prepared from scratch, incredibly tasty and refreshingly different from the big chains that seem to fill the High street. Today I popped in for lunch, it was absolutely rammed and I was lucky to get a table. It was the New Romney Fayre in town so much busier than usual, Fredi and Hazel had put on thier shortened lunch menu to ensure they could cater for the extra busy lunchtime service. This didn't mean reduced quality though, I had the spicy Chicken thigh Souvlaki Pitta with seasoned fries, oooh and the Ay Verde sauce, all that coriander , garlic and chilli really does pack a punch. I have always found Fredi Hazel and thier staff incredibly friendly and helpful. I would add that they have worked incredibly hard to create a strong sense of community in thier restaurant, this has previously included, free school dinners during the holidays, and more recently I have enjoyed thier Waxworks DJ set nights.

Five star recommended from me. Give it a try.

We have been to The Coach House a number of times for breakfast and the breakfasts are delicious. I particularly enjoy the waffles and my son enjoys the pancakes 👍🏼

Today we went to the New Romney Lantern Parade and decided to visit The Coach House for our dinner. My wife had The Gyros and me and my youngest son had The Chicken Burger and Chips. My wife loved the Gyros and The burger was probably the best chicken burger I've ever had, and the chips were definitely the best chips I've ever had! Both the burger and the chips were amazing. They were perfectly cooked and tasted amazing. The chips seasoning gave them the best flavour and they were perfectly crunchy.

Staff were friendly as always and we will definitely be returning again soon. The best place to eat in New Romney in my opinion.

Always loved the food from Freddie and Hazel. Fresh produce, beautifully curated menus and authentic Mediterranean inspired food, a luxury you have to hunt high and low for, in an age of processed food and big soulless chains. Had take away menu tonight and ordered Pizza. Handmade on the premises dough, gorgeous toppings, delicious porcini mushrooms, and the sauces made by Fred which were to die for. Support your small local restaurants, they have a character, quality and authenticity the big guys can't copy. Looking forward to seeing what Fred and Hazel come up with in the coming months. Thank you.

In New Romney for a weekend away down the coast, this is a lovely place for a fresh full English, tea and a great range of cakes. Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating, with a car park attached to the building. Easy and fairly priced place to come if your in the area. Outdoor seating great for dogs, cyclists etc..
