Chennai Express Fleet

First time visiting fleet high street and was taken back by the amount of food options available, but checking out a few menus Chennai Express seemed like a good option for some lunch!

On first appearance restaurant had really nice vibe South Indian style felt really authentic also! The menu looked amazing also lots of options and traditional options too. As always we opted for the lunch time menu to maximise value for money and wow this place did not disappoint!

I ordered a chicken tikka masala with a chapati, I’ll start by saying it was served on them one long thin serving plates which as known I hate but soon as I had one taste of that masala sauce all was forgiven wow!!

The masala sauce was rich, had that deep tomato and onion flavour, but also very silky and smooth with that gee finish, also the tikka chicken pieces finally somewhere where u can actually taste the tikka in the curry wow! So many curry’s tried and first time for a long time I actually could taste the different flavour when having the tikka and also that chicken was soft buttery and prefect!

Was served with rice and poppadom both accompanied the dish nicely rice was cooked to perfection as standard! And the chapati also nice thin and crispy too.

This place really is the real deal when taking South Indian a little gem hidden in fleet here!!

Overall score today 9/10 solid! I’m sure this would have scored 10/10 if I tried more of the menu!

Foodie friends who live locally invited us up from Andover to celebrate my wife's birthday and we were NOT disappointed!
They book people in by time slots so that the kitchen is not overburdened and none of those long waits you read about at other places.
You could go for the usual stuff like Kormas etc but, even though I am sure they would be very nice - what a waste if you passed up the opportunity to try the excellent variety of Southern Indian delicacies and street food.
If you don't know what to ask for, the staff are more than helpful. You be wanting to go back and try more as you see some of the wonderful creations float by on their way to other tables.
I hate to pay for food that I can do better myself but that, definitely wasn't the case here.
Starters and main courses were all freshly made in the kitchen (which is on view from the tables) and tasted like it too!
No microwaving pre-cooked food and one-pot sauces at Chennai Express Fleet!

Lovely modern restaurant with a huge selection of dishes ranging from South Indian and Indo chinese and drinks options. Great atmosphere and service. Will definitely be visiting again.

Chennai Express offers a delicious and authentic South Indian buffet, thaali and dishes that transports you straight to the heart of the region. So happy to have an Indian restaurant in Fleet doing street food. I loved trying new dishes that I haven't tried before. Very very tasty. Service was a bit slow, but it was the opening night and they're still finding their feet, so I'll forgive them 😉 Will be back. There was too many yummy looking dishes that I have yet to try. Well done and thank you.

Very cool atmosphere 👌 and welcoming. The staff are excellent and helpful. The sitting area is very comfortable .Washrooms are very clean.
Food is excellent to what we had, I can't fault anything. My partner and myself had gool gapa for starters . I had saag paneer and parandha for my main, and my partner had masala dosa and chicken curry. For drinks, we had 3 drinks, and they were so tasty and different. Sorry, I forgot the name. Dessert was chefs speciality. My partner had rusmalley . We are going to try the thalidomide next time.

Amazing amazing amazing!! This is genuinely the best curry I’ve ever had - the flavours are incredible! Staff are so friendly and couldn’t do more when it comes to talking through the dishes and recommendations. The decor is stunning- all modern and colourful and a beautiful water feature as you first walk in. The bill comes on the cutest little cart too!! If you’re looking for somewhere to eat I fully recommended coming here!!

Amazing food and service, we really loved the large and varied vegan menu. It's so nice to have such different options that nowhere else offers.
We've been going to the Basingstoke restaurant for years and it's great to have a closer option. Can't wait to come back and try more.

The samosa chat was stunning.
So too, the beautifully tender and aromatic biryani. Naan breads were also superb. Can't wait to go back and try other things from the menu. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful meal here as a date night. All of the food we ordered was absolutely delicious and so full of flavour. It was great to see so many vegan options too (except for desserts menu). Luke was our server and he was very pleasany and attentive. Overall, the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and we will definitely visit again.

My first visit to this new restaurant in fleet oct 2023. The food menu is extensive, with a great selection of Indian street dishes that are not your typical Indian restaurant style. Soft shell crab and masala dosa being just a few!

A real buzz to the atmosphere, and with tables not being too crowded. Very nicely decorated to a high quality finish.

Service was a little slow, but it was busy.

We will be coming back to try more dishes from this fabulous menu.

We went here recently and loved the experience. We went for the 6 course tasting menu (minimum for 2 people). I loved the food as it tasted freshly prepared and the variety was good. The service was also good, not too fast, not to slow and the attention to detail of the decor led to a pleasing ambiance. We plan to return again soon.

A family get together and first time at Chennai Express. The restaurant was very busy and with the food being so tasty it’s no wonder, we were served by Arpana who was great. Personally I thought it was a bit noisy and a little more acoustic material would be helpful and a mid meal check for extra drinks would have been good too.
I’ll definitely be going back.

Food was great. Atmosphere was amazing . The only think that need to improve is the food waiting time. Might be it has just been 2 weeks it had opened , might be it was busy day , the service was slower than a regular restaurant but the food was brilliant. The manager was very helpful though. We visited for the first time as we fancied something different to our usual and were really impressed. Great atmosphere, nicely decorated and the food was amazing. Lots of options and we will be back to try more of the menu. Our server Luke was very friendly and helpful when we had a question about one of the items on the menu.

First time trying this South Indian Restaurant. Left very happy, all of our food was delicious and presented well. Excellent garlic Naan!
The decor inside is very nicely done and provides a warm and welcoming dining experience. Staff all very polite and efficient.

Exceptional restaurant. We have eaten a lot of Indian cuisine over the years, and this takes the top spot. The atmosphere was fantastic. Decor was spot on. Service was brilliant. My wife and I celebrated our anniversary with the tasting menu, which was perfect. The staff took the time to explain the dishes, which helped maximise the experience. Thoroughly recommend visiting, and I’d suggest booking as it was extremely busy.

Stopped in Fleet for one night, went for a chinese, and ended up in Chennai, which is Indian food. Beautiful place the curries we had were lovely. Staff were very helpful and polite. Don't be frightened to ask if you don't know what the dish is super helpful.

Lovely meal. Sat at a table for 4 in a section seating which was really nice,bit more private. Tried some different starters as recommend by the manager, who was so nice and friendly, explained all about it, it was so tasty. Mango chicken for main was delicious. We enjoyed our meals. Nice setting. Good food. Lovely staff. This thiswas our 2nd time and both times was excellent.
