A classic bookshop. Rammed with books. Full of nooks and crannies. Additionally a wide array of board games and gifts. The children's department is particularly well equipped with literature, learning materials and even some select LEGO items. If you are regularly in Durham, a must visit for the latest titles, if you only there for the day, a must for its charm.

Nice and cosy bookstore with all the university merchandise, but also a critical selection of books, both local and international, also academic works. Great staff!

Well layed out and plenty of books in stock - reviews of some books in the wrong place but otherwise they were helpful.
Offers and discounts do actually make most books cheaper here then online, and I picked up some books I wouldn't usually have thought of after looking over them.

Been in today 23rd March 2023 the shop in Durham City has had a face lift look's first class haven't been in for a while but love going in and buying books 📚 of interest to me staff polite every time I have been in. Bought a new book 📖 on the Charlton brothers jackie and Bobby. Ordered another book up today the Summer ⛱ of 1963 a New book on the rise of Leeds United 🦚

Great window display drew me in and the sales assistant was very helpful in tracking down the titles I wanted. I also got informed and enthusiastic commentary on two of my choices. Very satisfied with the range of books and the level of customer service.

One of my favourite places in Durham. The staff and friendly and very helpful. I have gotten recommendations on a regular basis by a staff member and enjoyed even more fantastic authors.

We visited on a Saturday morning. The store was busy but it had a large floor area so it can absorb a lot of people.
The staff were good humoured and knowledgeable. They're is an extensive range of stock.
The person at the checkout out was personable and pleasant.
Waterstones do seem to have worked out how to make physical book shops work. I do hope so, anyway.

Lovely Staff and the online system if they don't have a book is very fast

Visited with my nearly 12 year old looking for a book similar to 'Wonder'. We asked for recommendations from the girl in the children's section and she was exceptional. She asked great questions to help understand what exactly we were looking for... Spoke directly to my stepdaughter and found us some brill books. She clearly loved books and the memory of how happy my stepdaughter was will stay with me for a long time. This is why physical book shops will survive!

Love this shop!!!!! Fabulous selection of books and all the Staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. Extra mention for Fiona who is just so lovely every time we. You can feel her genuine love and passion for books.

Staff are always superb, my son is autistic and Loves reading... Staff always make a fuss of him and listen to all his little stories he tells! Visit everytime we are in Durham every few months.

Big enough to have a decent selection and yet cosy enough to not feel like an out of town shopping centre! Lovely.

It has a peaceful environment with university students and great range of books and comic books.

Loved it! Also did some crafts with the staff there (my apologies for not remembering her name) but she was absolutely lovely and made the craft so much fun. Apart from the craft there's a wide range of books and toys for kids

Fabulous bookshop in the centre of Durham. Went in to buy books for my teenagers, the assistant was really helpful. Unfortunately the 400+ pages of 'Scythe' by Neal l Shusterman only kept the young one occupied for 2 days. A great book then!

The staff here are very knowledgeable and great to chat to. There were a few books I couldn't find but they ordered them for me and called personally a few days later to let me know I could pick them up. Great service.
