Tesco Extra

My review is for the Tesco Cafe within the store, upstairs. It was a gem of a find! First visit to this store was today on a Sunday, 2.30pm and still able to order a full breakfast! Personally, I think this is remarkable in itself. So few places serve after 11am. How fabulous to arrive after a very busy morning and few hours elsewhere, feeling extremely peckish to discover a cooked breakfast is available to order. Well done Tesco! You have definitely got this right. I for one will travel purposely to this store for that alone. The Cafe is a good size overlooking the whole enormous store. It is very well kept. Clean & tidy. The staff all seemed extremely friendly, polite and efficient. Great menu choice too. An array of ALL DAY breakfast choices plus cooked snacks and lunchtime meals. All very competitive prices. This was a very pleasant find in this "everything has changed and gone up in price world" we live in today.
I can't comment too much on the store itself. Seemed extremely large and full of choice. A pets at Home within middle of store which is great for pet owners. I used to be one and a huge fan of pets at Home. The store has a clothes section too, which is very good. A lot of checkouts to accommodate everyone. Overall, great store. Easy parking.

One of the only cafe's to be open in Central Durham area on Boxing Day which was gratefully received. Very large outlet of supermarket chain catering for everyone. Upstairs has cafe, toilets and clothing.Plentiful parking and other retail outlets close by on Dragonville retail area.

I would like to thank Brendan for the kindness he should me on 17tb December. I felt unwell and he got me something to sit on. After he carried my basket and got the rest of me shopping, put it through the till and packet it then carried to the car for me. Totally excellent,kind and help employee. This was at Tesco Extra Dragons Lane Gilesgate Durham.

Great tesco Cafe always quick, friendly service, and fresh tasty food. Nice and clean and handy automated hand wash in the toilets.

The petrol prices are so good even the competition comes to fill up - see picture 🤣😂😂😂.
Also great Clubcard prices … Tefal bakeware on massive sale.

The best Tesco in the North East, much better vibe than Kingston Park. Huge selection, fantastic staff, massive car park, plenty of other shops around it on the two retail parks.

Great cafe with nice food and helpful staff, fuel prices are competitive too. The supermarket is like any other Tesco to be fair, I did however buy a toilet brush, but let me tell you, never again!!!. My bottom was sore for days after using it.

The best Tesco super store within County Durham. Well stocked. Excellent service every time I've been in.

Large superstore five minutes drive from the centre of Durham. Two floors including clothes accessories and cafe in addition to groceries and fresh produce. Good selection of household and electronic items as well. Or maybe just treat yourself to a cappuccino and shortbread.

Surprisingly Large store plenty of staff fresh fruit and vegetables well priced and after shopping a pleasant cafeteria upstairs don't worry if stairs are a problem there is an escalator and a Lift it's only on the first floor and a good range of snacks too 👍

Good social distancing measures staff friendly and helpful..some staff were ignorrent and rude on last trip but not a true or fair reflection on others.

Easy disabled parking, always sufficient checkout staff and large selection of groceries and other items.

Today my experience here was a mixed one. While out with my sister i took unwell and came close to collapsing and having a seizure. I can only say that the staff and other customers in the store saw something that was not right. And asked if i was ok, one customer even offered me water. I took myself outside for some air, and even customers entering the store stopped to ask if I was ok. Clearly i looked unwell. Then exits my sister as her usual self. So thank you to staff and customers that showed more compassion in hard times for a stranger. Good experience , for a very bad day.

I love this restaurant not only for the convenience of it being in the shop you're doing your groceries but also because of food and the friendliness of the staff. I have been coming into this restaurant for many years (I remember bringing my daughter in her pushchair and now she is in seniors school!). The thing that never changes is the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff!! My daughter is one of the fussiest girls I have ever met... I always thought that the staff would cringe when they saw us, they may have! But they didn't show it and gave her whatever concoction she had thought of!! Many restaurants have refused to do this and say they have to stick to what's written on the board so that in itself is a big help to parents of fussy children! Not only is it a help to parents but also to the elderly. I have spoken to several older people who come every day for breakfast or lunch, or come once a week, not only for the reasonably priced meal but also just to socialise, the staff know them by their first names and people they know stop and talk. I myself although younger am on crutches and staff are always very helpful making sure I am okay and bring my drinks etc to the table. The food is lovely, usual type of supermarket restaurant food and I love how their large lattes are actually large!

It was fine shopping today, no queue mid morning. All basics in stock, including flours. Some items sold out but nothing critical. Friendly, helpful staff here, as always. Wide aisles so no problem overtaking if everyone mindful.
